but do i debate every day whether or not to STAY in the marauders fandom cos no matter how much i separate the art from the artist it’s still giving attention to jkr’s work?

i find solace in the fact that we know she hates everything we do here. yes, the work is originally hers, but fandom content differs so much from and expands so much upon the base material that it's sort of its own beast, now.

this is assisted by being aware where your money goes not providing JKR with monetary support. buy merch second-hand, from small businesses, or from retailers that don't give joanne royalties. know which companies pay her based on sales vs. a flat rate and the technicalities of those agreements (looking at you, universal).

this is how i've found balance with my presence in the fandom; marauders are a massive piece of my life and personality, i have a tattoo of them, and there has been a learning curve to figuring out how to engage with the community while avoiding supporting JKR outright.
