Thursday

Storm 5 am -20 mins before the alarm

Goes off

To put it back on

Snooze

The Storm’s rain ripping and tearing

To get down

To concrete sidewalks and tar roads

And turning on curbs

Falling through

Cast iron gated sewers

Down there

Waterfall season

For the rats and roaches and unknowns

Perforated serrated water

Cutting the window screen

I’m disturbed -interrupted

From commandeering minutes of sleep

An attempt at decoding identity

I wish I could call myself X because sometimes identifying as “African-American” feels false. What I really want is to identify as -a woman of African origins a descendant unknown to her ancestors. "African-American" feels and I wear it like an adopted “culture” than understanding or defining it as an ethnicity. My ethnicity is visible and unknown all at the same time. I’m pseudo ethnically known because of my tightly coiling hair and pronounced nose, lips and my deepening brown skin all pointing to a region on the continent named Africa and most likely (because I don’t know) western Africa. I'm a descendant of stolen some ones -not some bodies -yes stolen and erased ones...

Questioning the Transgender movement

I do not know how I feel about this whole Transgender movement at this time but it seems it is mostly focused on men who are now women and once again is this another thing that male especially white male privilege is "okaying" in a very heterosexual patriarchal society? I have yet to see a Transgender man modeling for Hugo Boss. There is a hatred in America for lesbians who choose the "masculine" because the consciousness of any patriarchal society is that everything identified as male is sole owner of males? Are we challenging gender identity in these days and times when in today society issues eventually become a billboard on the side of the highway to be taken down to make stage for the next issue?

The devil will be who he is...

Trump has banked on people not knowing basic math, not knowing the constitution, just not knowing and he is cashing in on their ignorance. Be upset at the ignorant ones not Trump - for the devil is the devil, however the ignorant ones can and do know better. They surely will come playing the victims when Trump leaves them with no country to call their own.

My feminism has nothing to do with men. It is not defined as “equality for all genders”. It isn’t even about equality. I don’t want to be equal with men because I don’t like or want this patriarchy men have. My feminism is about liberation for all women, and an end of the oppression of all women, including women of color, immigrants, lesbians, and trans women. It is about equity- doing what is necessary to ensure everyone has a quality standard of life, has their human rights respected, and is free from oppression. I am not into definitions of feminism that are aimed at making feminism appear non-threatening to men. It IS threatening to them, and it should be.
