"So, how do you eat all the food you eat and stay healthy?"
People ask me this all the time. I guess I asked for it, I do talk about food all the time, and I am on a constant quest to lose weight and be healthier and progress athletically. So this is how I eat “like this” and don’t get big as a house.
I eat a metric crapton of green veggies. The veggies above will probably last me and my husband three days. Celery, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, spinach, and kale are all a huge part of my diet. I eat fruit when it’s in season, but as a treat.
I don’t eat sugar, and I seriously limit my carb intake. The carb-y and sugar-y stuff you see on my blog was probably ordered by my friends or husband. I have a bite and then I stop, unless it’s a really special occasion.
I work out for about an hour a day, usually six days a week, but always at least five. I swim, bike, run, lift, do crossfit, yoga, pilates, dance, and do a ton of those nerdy exercise videos.
I write down everything I eat on the weekdays. On weekends I’m a little more lax.
I drink about 80 oz of water a day, and I rarely drink anything on weekdays but water and coffee. I gave up diet soda, and if I drink, it’s on the weekends and it’s rarely more than two drinks.
I eat a LOT of meat, red and otherwise, and fat. I’m super into butter and bacon and sausage and steak and coconut oil and lard. I put heavy cream in my coffee. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it works for me.
Hopefully this answers the questions! I was going to answer all of them at once but then I thought I’d just make a master post kind of explaining.
Also, if you’re interested, the recipe for the Brussels Sprouts above is here, and the green beans are just french-cut frozen green beans sauteed in unsalted butter with flavored salt and spices to taste.
