Ahem… as much as I myself and not into self inserts, Mary Sues or any character of any gender playing love interest and nothing else, it is perfectly alright and harmless to create a beautiful female character even one who is a Transformer especially considering the following official female Transformers….

I said it once and I will say it again. If a media can have male characters that are handsome, it can also have female characters that are beautiful. I will also say this as a woman who considers herself as beautiful and is damn proud of it; the female body is not wicked, stupid or something to be ashamed of in which we must cover it up. A woman is not disrespecting herself, other women or anyone by being beautiful and feminine. She’s being herself.

So no. Fans are not being stupid when they create beautiful female Transformers. And their characters aren’t stupid for being that way either. They’re works of art. You don’t have to like them, but they aren’t hurting you.

Meet MEGATRONIA! 

Takara’s previously-teased Decepticon redeco of Victorion has been revealed! We thought we knew at least a little of what to expect from this set, but boy were we wrong!

Team Leader Megaempress was created by Megatron long ago on Cybertron to lead the Female Decepticons (presumably, as a kind of counterpoint to Elita One), and she proclaimed herself his “wife.” Though noble, her power-hungry personality eventually led a fearful Shockwave to seal her away in stasis underground. Her ladder is a railgun comparable in power to Megatron’s fusion cannon.

The selfish Lunaclub is the younger of two twin warriors Megaempress created to serve her. She has the power to control fire, and back in the old days, stalked Starscream like a fangirl.

Moonheart is Lunaclub’s older twin sister, and has the power to control water. She’s coolheaded, but has unrequited love for Soundwave, under whom she once worked as a medic.

The wind-controlling ninja mercenary Flowspade was originally employed by the distrusting Shockwave to infiltrate and spy on the Female Decepticons. Megaempress’s charisma won her over, though, and Flowspade abandoned her mercenary ways to become her retainer.

Self-serving black-marketeer Trickdiamond was the one who found and reawakened Megaempress in the present day, retrofitting her and her team with combination technology. Able to control the power of earth, she’s a con-woman with ties to Swindle, the Quintessons, and - rumour claims - maybe even Unicron, but she’s often undone by her lack of forward planning.

Together, Megaempress and her Four Guards form Megatronia. Their individual weapons - Megaempress’s “Judge Pickel,” Lunaclub’s “Flame Sword,” Moonheart’s “Blizzard Blade,” Flowspade’s “Tornado Cutter” and Tickdiamond’s “Quake Shield” - combine to form the sword “Deathtopia,” which is powerful enough to cut through planets.

I don’t really like posting nitpicks like this because I honestly do enjoy the show as a whole and sort of pride myself on not being as whiny as a lot of other fans.  I might be a little upset or annoyed if they keep doing something I’m not fond of (Excessive focus on Henry’s fear in the past, for example), but I’ll generally accept anything they throw out as long as it isn’t Sharon Miller-level or something.  I also apologize if I sound like an overanalyzing SJW here, haha.  I’m all for social critique of things, but what I’m going to discuss is sort of a minor thing, so please don’t assume I’m this way about every little detail in shows.

But one thing that’s sort of been bothering me about the more recent TTTE seasons is the way they’ve been treating female engines.  It’s mostly little things, but they still kind of bug me.

First of all, implying there’s a difference between male and female engines.  This sort of falls into headcanon territory I guess, and if you believe they’re all weird cyborgs or some bizarre living machines with biological parts like the characters in Cars, then disregard this section.  I personally believe they’re spirits or sort of like imaginary friends to the humans, but I’m not opposed to the idea of their faces being highly advanced robotics either.  In both cases, though,  I’d say they’re all inherently genderless and I imagine the reason why they’re referred to as “he” or “she” is simply a matter of people wanting to humanize them and acknowledge their sentience.  I really liked how androgynous their designs were back in the model era, since it further separated them from the human concept of gender.  While there were few female engines back then, that wasn’t something addressed much with them.  You could make Mavis male and it wouldn’t change a thing (a number of people apparently though she was a guy anyways).  While the cast was disproportionately “male”, it didn’t matter so much to me because gender was so irrelevant to the characters that pretty much nothing would change if Gordon suddenly became a Jordan.  There were (and definitely still are!) tons of tomboyish characters and male character that act in “feminine” ways.  Ultimately, they were a bunch of machines with faces and gender roles didn’t apply as much to them and it wasn’t really acknowledged except in pronouns and such anyways.  But then we fast-forward to now.  In the TGR promos they emphasize about how Frieda and Gina can “keep up with the boys”.  I couldn’t help but sigh and roll my eyes at this.  Uh, there’s no difference between “male’ and "female” engines besides their voices and/or faces, technically?  Why do they emphasize this so much?  Is it their attempts at being progressive?  It just sort of rubs me the wrong way and I kind of wish they’d return to the blatant disregard they used to have.   Maybe they’re trying to compensate for the show’s “sexist” reputation due to the lack of female engines, but honestly I kind of liked when equality amongst them was more implied.   More subtle.  It just sort of existed and they all accepted it.  But then again, it may have been too subtle for kids to pick up on, which is a logical reason to do this.  

I also have gotten sort of bothered by how much they seem to emphasize their appearances.  I haven’t watched enough of the middle-era episodes to really comment on Emily as a character, so I won’t really talk about her.  But I swear, every TGR promo video with a female competitor mentioned something about the competitors being beautiful in some way.  If it was just Emily, who was outright in a beauty contest, sure that would make sense.  I could sort of understand Ashima as well given the misunderstanding they have about her in the beginning of the movie.  But Frieda?  Gina?  It just doesn’t seem relevant to them and it’s sort of a shame they just talk about how pretty they are and how they can match the male engines rather than giving them a bit of backstory like Yong Bao or personality like Ivan.  

As it is, though, TTTE does have a pretty good variety of female characters.  I’d maybe like to see more variety in their faces as they a lot of them look more or less like Glen Keane girls.  Particularly some less conventionally attractive ones, sort of in the vein of the designs of the diesel engines.

Really agree about your comment about the female characters on the newest special of Thomas and Friends. As someone grew up with the model era, I felt the newest female characters’ faces not as the same style of the show used to be instead of Disney princess alike when i saw the movie poster months ago. And the face designs are quite sexist compare to that in model eras. Facial features being androgynous was one advantage of the show. When the Transformers fanon have criticized the female robotic beings being looks too sexualized and add more androgynous looking female members in the franchise, but the other franchise’s female facial designs regress to a more sexualized way. (Honestly not all of the female characters’ faces in the new movie needs to be so sexualized anyway)

Seems he always served as a toasting device.... I have been too busy to catch up any new issues of TF comics for almost a year, when i start to search some news, an obscured character finally make his appearance in the recent issues since his Mavel comic debute~!! I’m looking forward for his speaking roles and character development. I wonder what James Robert would do Blaster’s the other sibling Karmen...I think she can be the TF version of “The Danish Girl”(Coincidentally, the hair curlers brand “Carmen Curlers” and the gay and lesbian choir with the same name that may inspired the character were from Denmark~!!)as I headcanon Blaster’s all siblings were built as male because they are all “constructed cold” cybertronians but one of them(Karmen) decide to rebel the assigned gender...that may make a positive story of transgender in TF franchise...

First off, I have to give props to speedfreak01 and their rapid-fire digibashes for the inspiration for this.

One thing that really annoyed me with the Combiner Wars line was the sheer lack of Decepticons compared to Autobots, at least among the primary Combiner size-classes (Voyager and Deluxe). Of the released and confirmed upcoming figures, we have twenty-two Autobots and ELEVEN Decepticons at retail. That’s pretty terrible, especially when lumped in with Hasbro’s statement that they won’t (or probably won’t) be doing any Beastformers.

So, I got to thinking, what other major Decepticon Combiners are there? And then it hit me: the fan-favorite, Japanese-exclusive, kibble-free king: Liokaiser.

Obviously, it wouldn’t be a perfect fit, since Liokaiser is a six-bot, non-Scramble Combiner. But since this is more for fun, I just shrugged and went for it.

Ideally, all the characters would have retooled heads, but I only gave alternate heads to those who I felt needed further distinction from the base molds beyond the viewer’s imagination.

So, here they are: Leozack (from Voyager Silverbolt), Gaihawk (Deluxe Skydive), Hellbat (Deluxe Firefly), Drillhorn (Deluxe Rook), Jallguar/Jarugar (Deluxe Swindle), and Killbison (Deluxe Brawl). Additionally, I included ill-fated Breastforce alternate Deathcobra (Deluxe Blades), and Leozack’s twin sister Lyzack (Deluxe Air Raid).
