As this inspiring First Lady steps down, we’ve been reminiscing about Michelle Obama’s jewellery moments. Just like the lady herself, her adornment never paled into the background - it was always bold. But our favourite looks have to be those featuring her abundance of Jackie O style pearls, just for the unbeatable timeless elegance.

Said to have the power to grant its wearer eternal happiness, health and wealth, January’s birthstone, garnet, has some pretty great qualities to kick off 2017. This deep and rich red stone’s name derives from the Latin ‘granatium’, meaning pomegranate. We simply can’t get enough of this exquisite gem, and have created a selection of elegant jewellery sets to show it at its best.

As the season to be jolly and full of good cheer, colourfulness and Christmas are a great combination. We think kaleidoscopes of coloured gemstones not only brighten up collections during the darker days of winter, but stand out from the usual diamond-only offerings we so often see in windows this time of year.

Sunny citrine is November's birthstone, and suitably, this cheery yellow stone was once believed to be the gem of happiness and joy.

Business owners may also want to take note, as according to legend Citrine is a merchant's stone, and was thought to bring positive wealth, and maintain it, when placed next to a cash register!

The Autumn months are starting to draw in and with it will come all of its awesome colours. From our Fine Jewellery collection, the sugarloaf and cabochon series is particularly perfect for this time of year with its warm yellow citrines, deep red garnets and dark green tourmalines.

This month's birthstone, sapphire, exists in a myriad of colours but it's always been most strongly associated with the colour blue. 

One of the most famous pieces of sapphire jewellery in existence is the 12 carat Ceylon sapphire engagement ring, originally belonging to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and now the Duchess of Cambridge. Perhaps one of the reasons why sapphire is currently the most popular gemstone for engagement rings.

Renee Zellweger looked gorgeous at this month’s premier of Bridget Jones’ Baby at The Odeon Leicester Square. Proving that great brooch goes a long way for a bit glitz and glamour, she embellished her plain black satin dress with a show-stopping crystal zebra brooch. We are the grand old age of 25! 

Luke Stockley started up all those years ago with support from HRH Prince Charles’ charity, The Prince’s Trust. They were small beginnings but we had big ambition, which has led us to become the largest supplier of marcasite jewellery in the UK and Europe today. 

As well as Marcasite by Luke Stockley, we've created and developed a further two collections along the way: Luke Stockley Fine Jewellery and IX by Luke Stockley. All of our ranges continue to evolve, with an aim to ensure that you always have a wide choice of designs to select from.

Luke Stockley will be exhibiting at our first International Jewellery London this year. Taking place on 4th - 6th September at Olympia London, we’ll be on stand F38 for Marcasite by Luke Stockley and B90 for our Fine Jewellery. Hoping to see lots of familiar faces and new ones too.

This month’s precious birthstone is peridot. Believed to protect against nightmares and bring its wearer influence, its one of the only gems to occur in only one colour, ranging from pale yellow-green to a deeper olive tone.
