Japanese and Koreans have a word for this. They call it “skinship”, at first described the act and feeling of affection between mother and child expressed by physical touch. Later on, it evolved into a more relative term, simply meaning a not-always-sexual intimacy between two people, communicated via the touching of skins.
Sometimes, it’s simply brushing one’s finger against another’s arm like a fleeting butterfly’s feet. Sometimes, a wisp of hair tucked tenderly against your ear. Sometimes, a lover’s caress against your face. Claire and Jamie have a very physical relationship, true enough, but it doesn’t always have to translate to sex. It’s natural, organic. Beautiful.
