Now that I'm in the post game I switched to English dub because I wanted to know what they were saying in combat. This has been fun but sometimes someone will speak and I'll be like "who was that" and then of course there's Monoco's "what lovely feet you have" which every time I'm "what are you on about".

just thinking about ddlc again and, like… the moment where monika says “or should i call you [windows user name]?” if the name you enter in-game doesn’t match? that hit different as a trans person who hadn’t yet updated their windows name at the time of playing.

sure monika knowing your “real name” is already scary, but being fucking DEADNAMED by monika is both so much worse and REALLY funny in a fucked up way. the programming accidentally made this beloved horror game character be transphobic @ me. truly a gaslight gatekeep girlboss moment <3

Also where the hell did V3rstave(censored so it doesn't show up in tags) come from guys they've barely met and I don't really think they would like each other. If your fujo goggles are more like a hammer looking to find a nail monoco is there and has some basis.

It wouldn't bother me as much if there wasn't such an overwhelming deluge of fan works on them vs. the other actual main characters. Like it seems fandom writ large will only care about the interiority of Verso and The Dessendres and only Gustave in so much as a person for Verso to kiss. Like I'd just like to see more consideration for the other characters internal thoughts.

Just finished coe33 and while Verso's ending is the better one for the Dessendres it really comes to a point where even though he hates them he is doing the painterly thing of choosing what he thinks is best for everyone else, he has internalized his view that the the paintees' lives are worth less than the painters or perhaps projecting his own wants for himself into them. But key thing is they aren't as tied into the Dessendres as he is and can make choices with regards to how they live it. And it is awful that he is then strung up as a sacrificial puppet.

At least my mental calculus was that this is the worse timeline for the Dessendres but I am fine with them choosing to destroy their own lives and it's the better timeline for the paintees. I do think the story just goes yeah the paintees will want what's best for the Dessedres which hollows them out to serve only their function as art when like no I think post Maelle fight you should also have to fight the rest of the party.

Basically I don't think they stressed the friction between Verso's decisions and the non Dessandres when he is essentially saying that their lives are worth less. At least make it slightly more complex than good and bad ending.
