THE LAMPLIGHTER. Of all fae, the Lamplighter is among the most mysterious and difficult to find. This voiceless faerie haunts country paths and crossroads at night; they appear to the lost and forsaken to guide them safely home. The Lamplighter’s origins are shrouded in mystery, but the most common tale has them turning to this path after their lover was killed by roadside bandits.  ___

Most fae are a bit sketchy, but the Lamplighter is just here to try their best. Not their fault they look spooky. Hope you like.

no but like… do you sue him for using your designs? Do you politely ask him to stop using your designs? Do you ask him for license fees when the Superman merchandise adopts your design as well?

i am absolutely sure that he would find one with an artist’s comment/description that included “hey superman if you’re reading this feel free to use this anytime ok ;3″ and he would say “oh man that’s so thoughtful, thank you weedhorse69, I think I will” and like how do you explain in court that you, weedhorse69, did not intend for your statement to be any kind of contractual offer because you did not think he would ever find your public internet post with his name all over it

I really loved this episode though, it was an established theme in the show that firebenders are associated with death and waterbenders are associated with life and healing, and up to this point it all seemed so clear-cut, because fire obviously destroys everything in its path while water can put out fires and heals, as we’ve seen particularly in Katara’s case with her natural healing ability.  

Then we meet Hama, who due to years of torture and hatred has found a way to turn the classic gentler waterbending ways into a weapon of destruction and manipulation, and honestly I can’t think of a better way to introduce people to the fact that things are never as clear cut as they seem.  We’ve thought of waterbenders as the good guys up until this point, so it’s jarring to find out that no, despite stereotypes and traditions, there are always going to be good and bad people in every culture/group, but that’s the point of the entire show.

It’s revisited later too when Aang and Zuko find the Sun Warriors who teach them firebending is not just about death and destruction, but also about bringing warmth to the earth and making plants grow and both Aang and Zuko needed to hear that they weren’t just instruments of destruction and gain confidence from the idea of using firebending to create life and I love it I love this show so much.

also worth mentioning: the flowers in this episode were specifically called “fire lilies,” and a swathe of blackened plants is generally also what it looks like when fire comes through and destroys and area. It’s showing that not only can water be used in dangerous and harmful ways, but also that water and fire are not as inherently opposite as they seem.

Y’ALL…so we know that asami owns a gold hair clip that she wears with her formal outfits in books 1 and 2.

BUT in book 3…

asami uses an incredibly fancy gold clip (that doesn’t match anything korra owns) when she’s doing korra’s hair. asami knew korra was about to leave and gave her her own hair clip so that a piece of asami would be able to be with korra…literally the softest thing ever
