My absolute favourite thing about Heaven Official's Blessing is that Hua Cheng would literally do anything for Xie Lian. He would kill for him, he would die for him, he would hurt for him, he would, for example, become the most powerful supreme ghost known to the heavens, beat up everyone who wronged Xie Lian, burn tens of thousands of temples in one night, send thousands of lanterns for Xie Lian and tell him it was just "for fun," etc. etc.

EXCEPT!!! When Xie Lian tells him to forget him!! It's the only time Hua Cheng is like "I listen to my god religiously, but the silly thing doesn't always say the right thing, so I'll just ignore that one :)" I'm sure Hua Cheng is like "He was just having an off-day :) I'll just worship a liiiitle bit quieter :)"

I love how Hua Cheng is the most loyal, obedient dog of a character who listens to any and all commands except for the ones to leave, which he conveniently forgets to follow. He would destroy the entire world, no questions asked, if Xie Lian asked him, and Xie Lian wouldn't even have to ask nicely. But if Xie Lian says any approximation of "Give up on me," Hua Cheng suddenly is deaf and cannot hear commands, and therefore cannot follow them even a little bit.

I love that for him. I think if he'd had a tail throughout the story it would wag every time Xie Lian looks at him, talks to him, or just exists within his sight range. Funniest supremely powerful ghost king ever. And that's not even talking about how he made butterflies terrifying to generations of gods. Butterflies! That is literally the funniest thing, imagine seeing a butterfly and feeling nothing but dread.
