Okay this is my last post on the matter i just feel crazyyyy because like i loveeee bi eddie that is what i like. and how i interpret him because i think that’s a better and more interesting story in certain ways. but i have always vocally been like well I definitely don’t think gay eddie is inherently wrong and i 100% see that as well it’s just not what i like. and neither of these things matter because it seems unlikely that the show will grapple deeply with any of it if it ever does go there. these are not like vastly divergent experiences for eddie either way he will always love buck and spend the rest of his life with buck. but in terms of like engaging with the show outside of Literally watching it i literally cannot stand gay eddie anymore i literally hate hearing about gay eddie I hate the jokes I hate the fanon I hate the way people act about it I hate that you cannot say a single thing about eddie without it coming back to this stupid ass discussion about why he’s a homosexual. I think fandom flattens the interesting story into something trite and interchangeable and not even relevant to or grounded in eddie’s actual life and character. I also think the kneejerk way people act around eddie’s sexuality is so incredibly fucking misogynistic and puritanical and biphobic and weird. and I don’t think it matters at this point whether this was the case years ago except insofar as people literally cannot be normal about anything ever. and if I never had to hear the phrase gay eddie ever again well I would be really really happy. and I’m sorry I was mean to twitter users I have interacted with like 3 of you who were normal and nice.
Say what you want about the current episodes of 911, but they dedicated their 3 episode opening storyline entirely to mocking Elon Musk and calling him an asshole and I think we have to respect that

I debated on giving this oxygen all morning, but I think I'm gonna because it speaks to a larger issue that is going to come up more and more often in fandom and in political discourse in general.
First off the tl:dr is that those two situations ARE fairly different and while I am not UNWILLING to put Lou Ferrigno, Jr on my "fuck these guys, actually" shelf I'm not GOING to, yet, and I weep for the end days of nuance we are clearly in.
Firstly, I think the general way that people get attached to these actors in this fandom is way, WAY above paygrade. Stan culture is poisoning people's ability to interact with media and public figures in a normal way.
There is no one in the history of humanity who has led a completely pure and unproblematic existence. Yes, even the politician you want to ride to the rescue and fix the world, yes even the actor you have pinned your faith in humanity to. We can make jokes about our perfect angel baby fave never doing anything wrong, ever, but that's just not realistic. People are messy, imperfect beings and going through life with a "one strike and you're out" mentality is only going to turn you into a miserable, holier than thou, outrage addict.
Going through life with an "everyone deserves endless grace and understanding" mentality will turn you into a miserable, holier than thou, doormat.
Going through life thinking you are ever seeing more than a carefully curated public image with celebrities will net you nothing but disappointment.
With the advent of modern social media, we get glimpses of public figures that are far closer to their real selves than we would have in the past, it's true. Some of them go full-on mask off, for whatever reason, and it's best to believe them when they do.
I'd invite this anon to notice that I've been in the 911 fandom since before the pandemic and my dislike of Ryan Guzman as a person, and subsequent disinterest in supporting him going further, is a development within the last few months. I've never been a stan, insisting he's perfect and can do no wrong (and when he does it's just cause he doesn't understand and needs to be educated), but I was willing to give him grace on past problematic behavior as he seemed to have learned and changed. In the last year, the evidence that that was true has evaporated. We have a pattern of behavior with Ryan Guzman, spanning months and years. And he seems to be doubling down, not backing off.
Am I thrilled with those reposts Lou Ferrigno Jr put up? No. Do either of them seem to be smoking guns of pure redpill alt-right values? Also no. I have no idea who the one guy is (I am told he's a pretty rabid alt right content creator, but I've never seen any of said content), but the video is (and I am ONLY speaking of that PARTICULAR video) espousing fairly centrist-leaning-libertarian ideas that a great many people who perhaps haven't been exposed to Charlie Kirk's more extreme views have been sharing. The Rogan video is only him and Sheen expressing shock over Kirk's death.
Again. Patterns are what count more than single incidents. Up until this point, we had been pointing out the fact that you had to go back a decade in LFJr's socials to find questionable materials. His posting and public behavior has not raised red flags (made up tomato scandals aside). As far as I'm aware he's not FOLLOWING a ton of super right wing accounts. He's not appearing on podcasts and talkshows spouting off on "traditional values". If I had to parasocial for a minute, I'd lay odds on him maybe being a "guns don't kill people, people kill people" person. Which wouldn't be terribly shocking and would only be a dealbreaker for me personally if he was of the variety that was against ALL gun control measures.
Everyone is entitled to feel how you feel about it, obviously, but if one insists on going through life trying to like and support only the people who make no missteps ever and hold only the "correct" personal and political views (which stan culture actively encourages), one will be endlessly disappointed. All this to say, I find those reposts to be suspicious-side-eye-worthy, but not deserving of the public statements and "unfollow me immediately if you defend this!" takes currently exploding across twitter.
So. Lou’s reposts. Embarrassing? Yes. Disappointing? Sure. Vile enough to be lumped in with RG’s bullshit? Not even fucking close.
