First of all, gorgeous in both However, I’m curious about the decision to give him a muzzle for this scene?? He doesn’t use his voice for magic or anything other than talking to others, which uh, the implications are not great when you think about it… Loki not being able to communicate his own thoughts and feelings, both literal and metophorical, genuinely kind of fucked up to do to this to a character who has been the worst of it smh. Honestly, I think this is just the first showcase of series treatment of him, how he’ll never be able to speak his mind or share his pain, even to those closest to him GAH! I really wished they had done a movie where they actually acknowledged his abuse/trauma!! And not whatever TR was. No, I don’t think the series did a good job of that part, EITHER. UGH!!! And also, on the topic of me still being pissed as hell over Loki's death in Infinity War, here are a list of things he could've done instead:

Done nothing at all. Thanos was planning on leaving anyway once he got the Space Stone, I understand wanting to make a stand, but this is not the place nor time, just keep your head down and help Thor out, 'kay?

Made a double of himself. This theory is very well known, so I won't be going over it too much in great detail, basically. Loki is right handed, but he stabbed up with his LEFT arm, which is something only the doubles do and if he was planning on doing major damage, he would've stabbed up with his better hand. Also Loki's body did not turn that gray color like it did in Dark World, which was intended as a genuine death. This theory was so well-regarded that it even made its way in the Loki series

Pretended to be on Thanos' side while actually dismantling his plans from the inside. Admittedly, this one has the most risk to it, I won't lie, but Loki is incredibly good at this type of shit and realistically, once he was caught, would already have thought of an escape plan ready to go. This idea was also something that was briefly thought of during the early stages of Infinity War, so it does have some precedence to it

I genuinely think that last one was what he was planning on when he offered to be their guide. But given how dismissively Thanos reacted to it (and also how they already suspected him of backstabbing them even back during the invasion), he decided to switch gears.

Not to harp on this, but I love how the narrative paints Thor as the child who confronts his father’s hypocrisy and Hela as the child who outright despises her dad, but in actuality Loki is the one who handed Odin his ass on a platter.

i know you're trying to make a joke, but like. Bro. I could go on for hours and hours about this scene and the implications of Loki's relationship with Thanos and break down as many details as humanly possible, but no one has asked that, so instead I'm just going to say this:

Thanos was completely aware that Loki was full of crap and just wanted to do it anyway

Thanos looked at loki and grinned as he tortured Thor, completely aware of the emotional bond between the two of them. He just wanted to do it anyway.

Loki didn't look at Thanos the entire time he looked at Thor. The only time that Loki looks away from Thanos in his scenes in IW is when he looks at Thor, but this is the first time that Loki looks away from Thanos in the scene and it shows a shift in his priorities -- stopping Thanos from hurting him to Thor. Thanos watched this and kept doing it anyway because he wanted to.

Behind Loki, the Black Order is grinning/smiling. This is a familiar scene to them: Loki begging Thanos to stop hurting him and being unable to. Makes you wonder how much of the torture Thanos inflicted was public and/or with the help of the Black Order. Loki barely seems aware of them at all, like this is something he's dealt with forever.

Thanos could have beaten it out of Loki. He could have grabbed any random Asgardian and it would have been just as effective. Thanos singled out Thor and he tortured Thor because he wanted to and he wanted to see Loki crumple.

Thanos just wanted to do this.

Wait, do people know about the Before I Play wiki?

I have used this for..... at this point easily over 6 years. It's a wiki where there will be low-spoiler/non-spoiler hints about just stuff you would want to know before playing a game.

It's always stuff like.... "Vitality in this game is useless, put your points in everything else first" or "Don't leave the second hub town until you buy X item, it'll become unobtainable."

Lemme pick an example almost everyone will know. From the Animal Crossing New Horizons page, the first tip is:

Nearly everything on the island is movable later, including all buildings and even cliffs and rivers. The main things that are fixed are the stuff on the border of the island (river mouths, beaches, rocks/peninsulae, the dock and the airport) and the resident services plaza, so picking your island layout should be based around that primarily.

That's stellar advice, tbh, given what you'll know about the game 30 hours in instead of 30 minutes.

Not every game is covered obviously and not every piece of advice is good, it's all subjective, BUT..... I look up almost every game I play for the first time, just to keep stuff in mind. The SMT4 page had top tier advice imo.
