i am massively overdue for a very very good week where not a single bad thing happens and everything is easy
reblog to give prev a very good week where not a single bad thing happens and everything is easy
Help me choose what to make next!
This will be listed in my shop, aka made available for purchase.
REBLOG IF YOU VOTED!!!
I need a large sample size to help me determine what is most desired.
What should I make next?
Hot pads/pot holders
Table runner
Mini quilt
Wallhanging
Quilt top
Baby/lap quilt
Coasters
Placemats
Mug rug
Here are examples of each:
Hot pads/pot holders - these are made using insulated batting, ideal for protection from the heat. Typically, they're between 8x8 inches to 10x10 inches.
Table Runner - a long thin quilt typically used to decorate a flat surface. I use them throughout my house, and even have one draped over the back of my computer/sewing chair. The example below features two of my table runners. They add a nice punch of color.
Mini quilt - 10x10 to 25x25 inches, often used to decorate a wall or flat surface.
Wallhanging - these are made to hang on a wall. They can be as small as a mini quilt and as large as a lap quilt. I will often include a hanging sleeve on the back.
Quilt top - it's simply that, the top. No backing, no batting, just the top. Ideal for anyone who wants to quilt something themself, or have someone else do it for them.
Baby/lap quilt - small enough to fit in a crib or drape over your legs. For cribs, a wide table runner work as well.
Coasters - often made using scraps, they range from 3x3 inches to 6x6 inches, and are used to protect a surface from the condensation of a cold drink. I usually list these with the option of purchasing just one or a whole set.
Placemats - large enough for a plate and cutlery, these protect a surface from a hot dish. I can make these in a set or with the option to purchase individually. Below is an example of a full dining set. This has 17 pieces, including coasters and an insulated table runner that serves as a hot pad.
Mug Rug - the love child of a coaster and placemat, it's made large enough for a snack and a hot drink. The batting is insulated to protect the surface beneath from the heat of the drink.
The idea of Batman just injuring a rogue just enough that a young Robin can come pick him off like one of those lions on a nature doc, is so funny to me. Like Bats knows that his apprentice needs a confidence boost and to hone their skills but he's not about yo put the little bird in danger so Batman will take down a rogue, injure them enough that they will put up a fight but Robin won't be in too much danger and can "take the guy down". I'm just imagining Batman taking down somebody like Killer Croc who is like "Bats? Where are you going? Aren't you taking me to Arkham?" for Batman to reply that he will in due time but Robin needs to practise. And Waylon just accepts this because he's also a father and he tells Bats that he's "doing a good job" with Robin. Bats grapples himself out of there, waiting in the shadows while Robin swoops in and takes down Killer Croc.
And of course, some Gothamite records this and it gets memed to hell. They even get somebody to imitate Sir David Attenborough to narrate the scene.
Fake Attenborough: And here we have the more colourful offspring of the Bat, closing in on their prey. With lightning quick skill, the Robin has attacked. The Croc has no chance. The Bat looks on as its young takes down the struggling Croc.
Batman *jumping into the alley*: Good work, Robin
Fake Attenborough: A proud father Bat will now drag away their catch where the GCPD will pick over the scraps like the scavengers they are.
I like the idea in fantasy that humans are better at maintaining things long term because they set up societies or professions to do it whereas dwarves and elves and stuff are like “just get bob to do it he’s got a good few hundred years left” and then bob doesn’t teach anyone else how to do it
Elf: How have you kept this castle maintained for a thousand years if your lives are so short?
Human: We just train new people how to do it?
Elf: *gears visibly turning in their head*
Human: Are you alright?
Elf: I just realized that we didn’t have to let that whole city fall to ruin just because my grandfather died.
Human: What?
Human: Wait that’s why there’s ruins of elven cities even though you live for so long? You just keep not asking people how to do things? How do you learn anything?
Elf: There’s a lot of “you’ve got time to figure it out on your own” attitudes floating around in our society that I’m starting to question somewhat.
Elf: That sword, where did you get it?
Human: My cousin made it.
Elf: Impossible! Those metalworking techniques were lost a hundred years ago!
Human: What do you mean lost? My great-grandmother learned to make these swords from an elven smith, then taught it to her kids.
Elf: That's ridiculous. No elf would give such secrets to a human.
Human: They didn't. Meemaw delivered the metal to the forge, and no one kicked her out when she stayed and watched. She always said they barely acknowledged her even when doing business with her, like she wasn't worth noticing.
Elf: Come to think of it, my great-uncle always was rather single-minded when he started working.
Human: So he wasn't ignoring her, he just forgot she was there?
Elf: Oh, he was definitely ignoring her, too. He was super racist.
