Sorry it's not very long. I'm still trying to get a feel.of Goob and Mugman decided this wasn't going to just be a cute fluff piece and decided to have a breakdown instead.

Mugman sat in the lounge with a frown on his face. It had been a rough night. Nightmares of the past had been particularly persistent leaving him with practically no sleep and a twitchy feeling. His heart thrummed with an energy like the one time he and his brother had drank a full pot of coffee as kids. It left a shakiness through him that stayed beneath his skin. On the other hand his mind was filled with Too Much and Not Enough. Thoughts and memories clouded his mind, but so much so that he couldn't focus on one single thing for too long, leaving that bad empty feeling there. Almost cloudy.
Mugman is the first to want to do more than just hug, but Good is the one to ask first. Mugs isnt exactly touch starved per say, it's hard to be with such a clingy brother, but it is so very rare for him to get something like a friendly touch from someone else... Hmm...
"Mugs?" Mugman slowly blinked before turning to see Goob standing there. The much taller toon was watching him with so much concern in his eyes that it left Mugs feeling like he got off a merry go round, a little off center, a bit wobbly.
"Mugs?" He asked again, making Mugman blink slowly. Apparently he had forgotten to respond.
"Yeah?"
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I'm fine."
"No, you aren't. You know it's okay to not be okay, right?" Goob asked, his voice so gentle as he carefully sat next to him on the couch. The brush of his fur left an uncomfortable crawling feeling over his exposed skin. He didn't pull away.
"I can't afford not to be okay, there is too much riding on this- but it doesn't matter anyway because I'm fine."
"...I'm going to hug you." Goob announced before Mugman could say anything else. The scraping feeling of his fur against his skin had him trying to get away. It was too soft. It was too rough. It made him want to stay. It made him want to tear off his skin.
"Stop! Let me go!" He shouted, face curling to bear his teeth. Something like a snarl slipped free. Run run run. Get away. It was too tight. Too restricting. He didn't want that punishment. Not now. What Cuphead did wasn't his fault, why did he always have to be punished with him-
The restraints loosened, but were still firm around him. A too soft, too gentle hand was rubbing the back of his head in some kind of soothing tactic. Mugman felt his heart start to slow down.
"Are you doing okay?" Mugman forced himself to breath in and not focus on the chill he got over Goob hugging him. Reluctantly he shook his head no.
"Do... Do you want me to let go?" Goob sounded so hurt when he asked.
"Yes- no- I-I dont- You're too soft, you're too gentle and it makes me feel like there are ants crawling inside me and I want to break through my skin to get them out-" Mugman felt Goob start to loosen his hold more, "but also the only- my brother. I'm not- I don't."
"...Oh!" The way Goob sounded so excited about whatever he thought of had Mugman tensing and refusing to look at him, "I'm sorry Mugs!"
"wha-"
"I should have asked, silly me, but here! I know what we can do." Mugman felt a different sort of chill when Goob let go. He hated the feeling of the hug, but he didn't want it to stop either. Before he could spiral too much he felt a large warm hand take his, and slowly squeeze it.
"I'm really sorry about the hug, we can work our way up there! For now we can do this until you're comfortable then we can do something else!"
"W...Why?" Why was he doing this? Why was he listening to him when he said stop? Why was he being so kind? Why did he care?
"A hug shouldn't scare you." Goob stated, ducking down so he could make eye contact with Mugman, "Not everyone is going to hurt you. I'm not going to hurt you."
Mugman just sat there staring at him, eyes wide and for the first time that night, no immediate thoughts in his head. Goob had said it so simply, like he didn't just say that to him. He said it like Mugman was a normal person, not a murderer. Not a Collector. It almost took Mugman's breath away, like a sudden fall.
"...okay." Mugman whispered, dropping his eyes down. Goob was holding his hand with his red one. It felt too warm, almost like it was burning. It actually was starting to hurt, but he really didn't want to let go.
"Thank you." Goob said with a smile, "Now! Let's go find Astro! He's usually up and he can help you get back to sleep! We can try the kitchen first! If he isn't there then there is the library, and the garden!"
Mugman let himself be pulled along and he let it happen. He was exhausted and his hand burned and he wished more than anything for a hug that didn't hurt one way or another, but he let himself believe for the first time in a very long time believe that someone other than his family really did care.
Okay I’m bored so here’s some PORCELAIN PLUSHIE head canons because I’ve thought of a few good ones! 🩵🧡

• Sometimes whenever Mugman leaves Goob alone (or asks for privacy sometimes), He’ll usually listen. But sometimes his hand extends to follow Mugman around (He’ll feel where he is by his foot steps)
• Mugman sometimes uses Goob a punching bag/stress ball (which is okay because Goob doesn’t feel any of the hits </3) He sometimes encourages it to let Mugman’s inner rage to let out.
• Goob forgets his size sometimes— so he’ll sometimes tackle Mugman or lay on top of him where he forgets he’s nearly crushing him alive.
• I see Goob knowing how to knit! He’s VERY slow and careful with it though (because of his hands). So whenever Mugman got a small tear in his scarf, he fixes it.
• Goob has a biting problem. So he playfully nibbles or bites on Mugman a lot. Usually his arm, shoulders or thighs lmao. Mugs gets used to it— as long as Goob isn’t biting too hard he’s okay with it. (Except sometimes when he’s really excited or being too playful or horny he’ll bite hard on accident.)
• Mugs really likes combing through Goob’s fur. Something about it is oddly comforting, especially if he helps cleaning him
• Goob sometimes blows bubbles through Mugman’s straw. It’s a personal intrusive thought he thinks about. It mades Mugs startled though.

Oh god, you're right. I should explain all the characters and why I picked it!!
Cuphead - Alice, obviously. Main boi n it is an exploration of him and his guilt
Mugman - The White Rabbit. Cuphead is constantly chasing his forgiveness and he'll always follow Mugman wherever. I also think that if Cuphead forgot Mugman it'd be very interesting. I'm also toying with the idea that The White Rabbit starts choking Cuphead and that's when he wakes up
Elder Kettle - The Caterpillar. Yknow, the one who is high 24/7. I'm pretty sure The Caterpillar is supposed to represent the aunt, at least how I interpret it, and I also made Elder Kettle the aunt. I also think their personalities are similar in the show and animated movie. Cuphead also starts forgetting this once he meets The Caterpillar due to the smoke.
The Devil - The Queen of Hearts. They're both the rulers and the big bads.
King Dice - Cheshire Cat and the King of Hearts. The Cheshire Cat leads Alice to the queen while also getting her in trouble, all with a wide, charming smile. Kinda like Dice and the Die Houses in game! And, with him being The Devil's right hand man, I thought The King of Hearts was perfect! Plus, King Dice. King of Hearts. It works. I also though it'd be interesting if Cuphead thought Dice was helping him then he goes n betrays him idk. Catboy KD too.
Baroness Von Bon Bon - The Mad Hatter. I do think this is another obvious one? Cause, like. Bbg is crazy. I love Bon Bon sm but she's got a real cooky way about her. There's also more of a focus on the dessert aspect of tea parties for her instead of the tea. I also have an idea where she was a baroness in the au but the queen bumps her down to a "lowly peasant".
Also I think Bon Bon would be called the Mad Confectioner. Will everyone have a different name? Idrk tbh.
Hopus Pocus - The March Hare. Ngl, I was originally gonna make The March Hare Beppi but then I remembered Hopus Pocus exists lmao. He's a hare (he's definitely a hare, I will die on this), he's crazy. It works. I might still do Beppi tho.
Ribby n Croaks - Tweedle Dee n Tweedle Dum. Tbh idrk who else to put as them so, yknow. Why not the only duo/brother bosses lol. Plus, the honking Dee n Dum do in the movie could be croaking!
Dr. Kahl - The Carpenter. He's an inventor/builder and I think that's similar enough.
Sally Stageplay - The Walrus. Again, idrk. She seems egotistical and sly enough for it, maybe even selfish enough too.
Wally Warbles - The Dodo. Bird. Fuck it.
Cagney Carnation and The Root Pack - the flowers. Plants *shrugs* idfk. Their minions are there too.
Werner Werman - The Doormouse. Rats and mice are close enough. Maybe instead of sleeping, he's inventing in the teapot.
