You know how we call things "pseudoscience"... the media analysis that's being done on twitter and tumblr should be pseudohumanities
contender for the funniest bit of supernatural dialogue
By special request from the LTS Discord…
Who’s more sexually desirable: Scar or Thanos?

i knew tumblr wouldn't let me down
so in the 2003 Aquaman series they introduce a new backstory for archvillain Black Manta in which the entire reason for his (hyper)fixation on destroying Aquaman's life was severely maltreated autism, which Aquaman then cures him of with his magic water hand to completely redeem him. and this is obviously insanely stupid and ill-conceived and genuinely hateful, but given all of that, this is still one of the funniest speech balloons i've ever read in a comic. me @ myself when i remember how i acted in high school or whatever
i'm so sorry but also delighted to report that after black manta betrays aquaman it gets even funnier
I’m not saying it was a good idea but every society has tried to solve the problem of “society needs organization to function but power tends to corrupt people” and I like how ancient Rome’s answer was the position of the tribune, where you get to have unchecked power with no accountability for one (1) year but after that you’re just a guy and everyone you pissed off can beat you to death with hammers.
me, my husband and my son are in a constant cycle of echolalia and nonsense
I once saw a panel from a Popeye comic on here about him having "bonkus of the conkus" (ie hitting his head) and now we all say that phrase constantly, as well as using "bonkers of the conkers" (a natural mutation) to mean something that's wild/crazy
and occasionally a cashier at the supermarket makes small talk about how hot the weather is and I reply, yeah, bonkers of the conkers!
the comic in question, if you even care
i'm sorry i wiggled your skinny boyfriend like a sheet of metal. weeop womp weeoop womp weeeoop womp
A bottomless curse, a bottomless sea.
Victor Frankenstein after achieving the impossible and building a fucking person from scraps of the dead: Oh god, ew, ew it's ugly! Yucky! Yucky! Gross! Ew! Ew! Yucky! Yucky! Gross! Ew!
Alternate timeline in which all Greek and Latin roots are swapped:
catastrophe -> contraverse cephalopod -> capitoped chlorophyll -> viridofolia democracy -> populimpery homicide -> anthropoctony homosexual -> equigamic kilometer -> millimensure interregnum -> mesarchy magnanimous -> megapsychic manuscript -> chirography motorcycle -> ergatorote microscope -> parvovisor oxygen -> acidofex polyamory -> multierasty television -> remotoscopy universe -> monostrophe
well i guess that's fine
with every consecutive expansion the graph for how to access new ffxiv crossover content gets funnier.
this is like if lord of the rings had a guidebook for how to get rid of the ring and it was like. step one pick up the ring. step two throw it into the fires of mount doom
having an evil shixiong: most normal thing in the world. in fact if you don’t have an evil shixiong you need to really carefully consider the possibility that you might be the evil shixiong
having an evil shishu: also extremely normal. what, you can have an evil shixiong but your shifu can’t? grow up.
having an evil shidi: also fairly common, although there might be a larger issue at play so keep your eyes open for that
having an evil shifu: this is itself an issue, since you are now in one of the classic Confucian Conundrums and have to choose between sacrificing righteousness or filial piety
having an evil disciple: come on man. this one’s on you
having an evil shimei: stop what you’re doing RIGHT now. as of this moment, your one and only mission is to unconditionally support your evil shimei, no takesie backsies
having an evil shijie: ccan i get yuor shijie’s number. please
"Didst thou knowest," started the kooky old man in my yard wearing no pants, "that Windows 98 makes the Internet easy?"
I had had enough of living next to the Installation Wizard. Every evening he went out there and waved his wand around and erected all kinds of horrible things. I often thought about moving away, but a big perk of where I live is that my landlord has repeatedly forgotten to cash my bad rent cheques ever since he didn't come back from that Panama vacation.
Most of our other neighbours kept a wide berth from him, and it was getting to the point where just existing next to him made me also a neighbourhood pariah. All those sneers at the community garden. Hugh Georges making a reference to "plug and play" and then snorting his way through a high-pitched laugh at his own joke. Eventually, I would have to do something. My hand would be forced.
For now, I have been luring him away from my property by throwing chunks of miscellaneous electronics I found at the junkyard. Every time, he shouts something about having found new hardware. He does a little dance, gets in his car, and goes away for a couple of hours. Not sure where he's going, or what he's doing. Little afraid he's going to get into a driver conflict at some point, and then I'll have two Installation Wizards on my lawn shooting Roman candles at each other while shrieking about IRQs.
i love this guy
Actual marketing tactic that DOES exist btw. I can't remember the term, but all major businesses have special roles specifically for people who understand how to manipulate human behaviors & emotions. Why are snacks at the checkout area? Temptation. Why is candy so low to the ground? Children. Types of store lighting can affect peoples mood. Cheaper products are low or very high so people won't look for them. Branding companies have this as well for packaging & logos that hide products lack of quality & manipulate people to impulse buy.
I know damn well I watched a documentary on this in high school, but that was quiet awhile ago. Everything is designed to subtly manipulate your perceptions & tastes. Once you see it, it's everywhere & you can work against it out of pure spite.
I don't know if this is still a thing but they used to go so far as to make the flooring material in big stores in shopping centres slightly softer than the floors outside the store, so that customers would stay inside a bit longer since people have (largely subconscious) preferences about floor textures based on how easy they are to walk on and how much they hurt tired feet. The amount of research that goes into choosing the lighting in makeup and clothing stores is bonkers. Bakeries often smell a lot more like fresh bread or donuts than their actual baking activities would create -- they pipe the smell out front on purpose. Grocery stores are deliberately laid out to be very slightly confusing -- not confusing enough to impede buying, but confusing enough to send people down a few wrong aisles to look at products that they wouldn't otherwise see. Signs are often placed in aisles so that you have to go into the aisle a bit to read them clearly, or at least take a good look down it.
