Objectively reading is low level dissociation. Its just a healthy normal form of dissociation. Its normal to dissociate for short periods in a controlled way.

This is a bad idea but:
Do you think someone should be allowed to get an abortion on the basis of the fetus's sex? (a mother aborting all daughters because she wants a son, for example)
Yes, also I'm pro-choice
No, also I'm pro-choice
Yes, also I'm pro-life
No, also I'm pro-life
Fetuses do not have hair
Why are people on this website obtuse.
These are just a few of many many similar reblogs.
1. How do you expect to "combat misogyny" while allowing femicide?
2. Whatever happened to "it's better to have a live son than a dead daughter"?
3. Why do these people think that a parent who will kill and discard children of one sex will be good and loving parents to the other?
Also a LOT of them are about eugenics. Like "I don't like this because it smacks of eugenics, but I don't think it should be outlawed." Like buddy are you in for a surprise because all abortions are eugenic in a way. This mother is unfit. This family is too poor. This child is disabled. Therefore the child should die/these people should not be allowed to reproduce. This is eugenics. It's all eugenics
Do you think Tintin hesitates whenever he gets into a stranger's car, fearing being kidnapped for the umpteenth time? Do you think he startles each time he hears a bang or crack, thinking it's a gun aimed for his head? Do you think he constantly looks over his shoulder for people who want to hurt him? Do you think he scans each building he enters for exits in case he needs to escape? Do you think he treads carefully in new places, on the lookout for trip wires and trap doors? Do you think he locks the doors and windows of his bedroom each night, a precaution against break-ins? Do you think he carries a first-aid kit for the inevitability of him getting hurt? Do you think he is wary of every stranger he meets, hoping they're not a criminal with a hit against him? Do you think he is on guard at all time? Do you
Isn't this the plot to Tintin and the Picaros?
I’m full of hot takes today so fine here’s another:
Christians, stop adopting labels. If you struggle with anything LGBT don’t identify yourself as such. I still struggle with attraction to women as a married woman. I don’t label myself a non-practicing bi Christian. You should never give yourself the label of your sin. We don’t call ourselves lying, thieving, lustful, angry, drunk Christians. It’s not safe to wear sin as a label.
our label as christians is Christ. That’s all. We are to put to death our old selves, not wear it as a badge.
"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst."
(General you) - If you are not a sinner, you have no need of Christ. If you cannot admit you are a sinner, even to yourself, then you cannot humble yourself to accept God's grace.
God came for the liars, the cheats, the tax collectors, and every single gay person in the history of the world, and nowhere on God's green Earth will you find that Mercy cares if a person calls themselves queer, because mercy is not for people who are clean and free of any pesky worldly issue. It's for us mucky creatures in the bogs.
You may misunderstand me. I am a sinner. I’m a horrid sinner. But I’m also a new creation. The old me is passing away, the new me is putting on the grace and mercy of Christ. Why would I identify myself with the sin I’m killing daily? To say I am an angry Christian makes no sense as I struggle with my anger nearly daily. Why would I call myself that? I’m just a sinner saved by Christ. I’m just a Christian, a new creature.
my flesh, my sin, should not ever define me as a person. Jesus calls us to go and sin no more. I can’t in good conscience label myself the sin I’m trying to do no more. Mercy and grace saves us where we are but doesn’t leave us where we are.
I opened with a quote from Paul. Who was most certainly accepting of the grace of Christ when he wrote that he was the foremost of sinners.
Find me something that becomes easier to handle when you cannot name it, when you cannot describe it, when the language by which one knows it is removed.
I don’t think we shouldn’t name our sins. But is it really wise to adopt the names of them? Again, I mention myself in this case. Bisexual Christian. Yet I see bisexuality as a sin, as it is against what God originally intended for mankind. Therefore I would not label myself as a bisexual Christian. I’m simple a Christian who struggles with sexual sin. In this case homosexuality.
this is simply how I choose to view things. I believe labels do more harm than good. However I don’t condemn any of my brothers and sisters who do use them. I’m simply stating that it seems unwise to label ourselves as the world tends to.
Except that this presumes some things which aught not to be presumed about language.
First is that by referencing sexuality, that it necessitates action or thought which is inherently sinful in nature. This is not the case - precisely why you will not find a single heterosexual Christian advised to not call themselves heterosexual even when unmarried. Speaking in plain terms about one's sexuality is generally neutral within matters of faith. This is the case regardless of what one's specific sexuality is, but as a whole we are accustomed to such discussions focusing on attraction to the opposite sex because a majority of people are straight.
Second is the idea that if one is not straight, one MUST struggle with their sexuality in the context of faith. This is also not the case, although again, many do. Likewise though, many straight individuals struggle between their faith and their sexual desires, and we do not suggest they distance themselves from their sexuality itself, but rather that they focus on a healthy and chaste understanding of their sexuality. A person may acknowledge and accept their sexuality without being consumed by it.
The use or foregoing of a label or term ought to not be predicated upon popularity, or whether it's from a secular source, religious source, etc. The person in sack-cloth and ashes seeks public approval the same as a man dressed in gold, even if their means appear to be opposing in nature.
The language by which one discusses their sexuality may vary based upon culture, language, time period, etc. There is no sense in avoiding something which is not itself bad. And having a word to describe one's sexuality and experiences of the world we live in is not a bad thing.
There’s a subtle but significant trend where many churches, seminaries, and religious institutions have started promoting the Bible instead of Jesus.
Their messaging, marketing, and rhetoric has shifted away from the person of Christ. The focus on Jesus has been replaced with an emphasis on “being Biblical” and “Bible-based.”
Usually, this is done by those who want to align with and/or cater to partisan platforms. In this way, they can pick and choose scripture to reinforce their beliefs and politics while avoiding the essence of Jesus.
The danger is that instead of ultimately choosing to follow Jesus, one can use verses—or parts of the Bible—to convince themselves to be un-Christlike.
Just like Satan used the Bible in an effort to tempt Jesus, so too can we use the Bible to hate others and avoid Jesus. God help us.
There’s a subtle but significant trend where many churches, seminaries, and religious institutions have started promoting this nebulous self-made idea of Jesus instead of the Jesus that we actually have any concrete knowledge and evidence of, that is, the one we know through the Bible which is literally God's divine revelation to humanity given to us that we might know Him.
The Bible is perfect in every word and in that way any un-christlike behavior is intrinsically a perversion of its intent or a direct disobedience of it.
The Bible is not some postmodern art project you can interpret any way you choose, not without being objectively wrong. There is no such thing as being too biblical.
Know the heart of God to interpret scripture, yes. But also read scripture to know the heart of God. There's no Christianity where you get to ignore the Bible.
To say, "Bible based is a dogwhistle for conservative theology" is reallllllllly telling on yourself.

1. Sinbad
Sin is indeed bad.
Contrary to popular belief, the reasons women get abortions are usually NOT rape, incest, the life of the mother, or serious birth defects.

the need to talk about the characters vs the fear that all of my analysis is just empty prose and surface level understanding
Me 20 seconds after saying anything about my favorite characters:
At the lesbian meetup, met a kind of transphobic woman. Started gearing up to get fighty and then realised... she wasn't an actual terf. She was just older, genuinely didn't know stuff, had heard some terf talking points in passing and had been made kind of anxious by them, but hadn't made it her entire personality. She was open to learning that trans women weren't actually roaming around coercing unwilling cis lesbians into sex, thanked me earnestly for giving her a basic explanation of what "non-binary" meant and truly seemed to be relaxing bit by bit the more she heard. Obviously I'm aware that I can't be sure I've given her a sufficient dose of anti-transphobe vaccine to immunise her permanently against the shit that's out there, but overall it made me hopeful. Most people just aren't dyed-in-the-wool bigots. People can be curious and relieved to hear the fearmongering they've been exposed to is untrue. Telling people this stuff isn't a lost cause.
disabled people are worth whatever cost or resources is needed to keep them alive. disabled people are worth it even if they don't live long. they're worth it even if they will need extra support and resources for every day of their life. they're worth it even if they spend all they life indoors. none of it is wasted. none of it is in vain. time, effort, money, resources spent on a life are not wasted. these things have served their purpose. the joy of someone's existence is not undermined by not lasting forever. there's no meaningful point, some threshold where you can say "okay this is enough. after that it's not worth it." it's always worth it.
This is resonating deeply with me today. People have constantly been blocking the ramp out of my apartment lately and it makes me feel like I am not worth the effort. I'm glad there are still people who think otherwise

this is the best album release of all time because where else are you going to get unironic takes like this and then even get a few hundred people to agree with it
Every time I see this I lose my marbles I love it so much. "For some reason I yelled who is in here as I was falling" is the point where my soul leaves my body. God I love.
obsessed with the idea of reality tv in star wars...imagine there being a Real Huttwives of Tatooine show. the jedi order has to fend off constant requests to have a jedi appear on the Bachelor. Fancasts always include Obi-Wan and Kit Fisto. Anakin religiously keeps up with 36 different shows. Ahsoka once signs him up for the bachelorette as a joke, except it works, and then an unsuspecting Anakin has to field a Call from Padme about what her husband is up to. Space twitter has never been so disappointed when casting announcement is hastily retracted. Obi-Wan goes on the Great Coruscanti Baking Show once for charity but the episode never airs for reasons that are never explained. It becomes the holonet's white whale. Love Island except it's all wookies. Naked and Afraid but it's all shaved wookies. the possibilities are endless and i believe with enough effort and funding we as the sw fandom can explore each and every one
