Is anyone going to set up homestuck photoshoots for Daisho Con?
if youre a homestuck and you live in wisconsin reblog this
im tryin to see something
Just something small that I noticed… Sieglinde chooses her hairstyle based on the pictures she sees on Nina’s walls. Nina calls it the “Alice” style because it is based on Alice Liddell who is the real life inspiration of Alice in Wonderland. That book was popular in Victorian times hence why the hairstyle is popular in the Kuroverse.

It’s easy, probably takes 2 hours with a sewing machine.
If you have to do this by hand, I pity you.
It’s kind of image heavy so here’s a read more tag.

MikamiTeru5 Shirt Painting Tutorial
Last year, for Otakon, I desperately needed a god tier John Egbert shirt. Despite having gotten one from a friend, the color of that shirt didn’t seem right. So I picked up a trick to make my own. This technique has proven useful for this Otakon in making my Trickster!Eridan Ampora shirt. Here’s how I did it. The pictures above go in order with the steps.
Materials: Iron Ironing board Flat object (cardboard is easiest) Fabric medium and paint of choice Shirt of choice Angled brush Small bowl Measuring tool (tablespoon, cup, etc.) Reynolds freezer paper Scissors
Step 1: Mix your paint and medium in the small bowl according to the directions on the medium’s bottle. I use Folk Art brand and they suggested two parts medium to one part paint.
Step 2: Cut a piece of Reynolds freezer paper, got mine at the grocery, the size you need and trace or draw out your design WAX COATED SIDE DOWN. I repeat: draw on the side /without/ the wax coating. Once drawn, cut out the design as if it were a stencil. I made two separate ones for my project.
Step 3: Place the stencil on the shirt on an ironing board. Make sure the shirt is smooth and flat and that you center your design wether it be by eye or with a ruler. No one will really notice of your design is ¾ inches more to the left. Iron your design in place, being careful of edges that the iron may bend upwards. Be slow and thorough to make sure the edges adhere to the shirt to make a crisp line.
Step 4: Place your flat object INSIDE of the shirt because the paint will bleed through to the back of your shirt if you do not have a barrier between the front and back. There are shirt forms made for painting on clothing but it is 20$ for that piece of cardboard when you can really just cut a piece off of a box around the house.
Step 5: Paint your stencil. I suggest painting from the edge inward to get the cleanest lines. If your paint is lighter than the shirt, you will need multiple coats, letting each coat dry. If you are painting the Aquarius symbol, as I have, I suggest doing one line first. Then let it dry completely and repeat the steps for that second line.
Step 6: Use your angled brush to sharpen points, smooth out curves, and define lines. It will not come out perfectly at first. There will be some bumps in the stencil where it has risen from the paint’s moisture.
Step 7: After you complete your design, let it dry completely for a few hours and decide wether or not you need extra coats. These shirts are washer and dryer safe and your design will last. If you put more than 2 coats, there is a possibility for slight cracking, but that was after several conventions and lots of washing.
I hope this was helpful to the crafty cosplayers in need!~

OOC: Cosplay wig tips from me!
I’ve been keeping this a secret for months… but we have been working hard on an awesome new cosplay website, and it has finally launched!!
The website is http://costrader.com/, it is a platform made for cosplayers to easily buy and sell cosplay costumes, props, wigs, and more
As a better alternative to ebay and etsy, we will never make you pay for listing your cosplay items. Yep, we are 100% free to try. We also offer better final value fees than other marketplaces, 3% only when your item sells!
I invite you to take a look around, or start your cosplay shop and upload some cosplay costumes of your own! The first 100 items will be placed on the front page. :D Let me know if you have any questions. And please reblog to get the word out! :)
What a wonderful idea!! I’ll absolutely start using this :)
Homestuck Tights: Comparison Between Mediums, and the struggle
Top right: Morona Brand Grey Opaque Tights (already sewn and worn out from cosplay)
Top Left: WeLoveColors Light Grey Opaque Tights (just purchased to make a second pair, since my Morona’s are getting worn out)
Middle Pic: Color Comparison
Bottom Pic: Texture comparison
I can’t say I’m not disappointed with WeLoveColor’s quality, and don’t tell me it’s because they’re only 8 dollars. In early June, I purchased Morona Opaque Grey Tights (Medium/Small) from Target for 7 dollars. They’re the exact same color as the paint I use, which is Snazaroo light grey. Not only is it thicker and contours to my arm better, but it’s seams are much smaller and blends much better. The WeLoveColor tights are not only MUCH bigger (I can tell I’m going to have to sew them extra to fit my arm snugly) but they’re also much less stretchy, as well as a cooler color of grey. Not to mention that the threadwork is more more noticeable. I’m surprised that the Homestuck fandom has sung the heavens of this product, considering the actual quality of the materials. Some people make it work, don’t get me wrong, but the material is a bit…lacking.
To my infinite sadness however, is that I can’t buy Morona Grey Opaque Tights anymore because they are discontinued in the Opaque Tights line. I can’t find them anywhere, not even online, and it’s killing me. I’ll miss wearing my old armsocks so much, I guess I’ll just have to make it work.
If anyone finds them, give me a holler. I would kill for another pair or two.
I’m not dissing the people who use the WeLoveColor brand tights, they’re not horrible quality or anything, it’s just I was expecting something very different from what I got.
