Welcome to our hellsite, Redditors!
Remember calming cat? Remember when tumblr was this color? If you donât thatâs fine. I just feel old and alone.
Youâre never alone. There is always calming cat.
Joycon drift is just Link following his impulsive thoughts
This is one of my top 10 most quoted/riffed on lines of all time. I say "may God bless and keep _______ far away from us" at least once a week.
Have you ever been bitten by an animal?
Yes and it was my fault
Yes and it was the animals fault
No but i know somone who was bit
No
If you said yes to the first 3 please explain in the tags what animal it was and what was the damage
The two year-old is now a solid two and a half. Just now, he was sitting on the couch playing with his pretend flip phone and he frowned and said âfor gods sake. My battery is empty.â
The other day at breakfast I asked him if he was going to eat any more of his oatmeal and he said âno, I think Iâm just gonna move on with my life.â
Today we were walking along and he asked me âHow many Octobers is it today?â I told him it was the 21st.Â
He tried a bite of his hot soup at dinner and made a face and said âMama, my soup is a little too temperature for me.â
Upon being served 1% milk for the first time, instead of his regular 2%: âis this water?â
Me: âno, itâs milkâ
Kid: âbut are you sure?â
Came up to me the other day, the middle of his pants totally soaked, and said âmama, Iâm having a situation called âI peed in my pants.ââ
I donât think I even told you guys about the six months he spent saying âfuckâ instead of âtruck.â
I have to laugh at the folks in the notes claiming this is fake because âno 2-yr old is that advancedâ. My guys, I work at a daycare almost exclusively with 2-3 year olds and let me tell you some of the wild shit I heard this last week alone,
âUhhh, i ASSUME weâre going to the playground soon??â -2.5 year old girl
â[3 year old boy] pushed me because he doesnât have a manners.â -2 yr old girl
âDid you spill your water?â âNo no no no itâs not a concernâ -2 yr old boy (while running away, dripping wet)
Kids are hilarious and smarter than you think
If you donât have a lot of interactions with young children:
Kids are smarter than you think
Six months makes a really big difference when that is 1/5 of the total time youâve been alive
All this, and also, they can tell you lots about their favorite things. My 2 year old nephew can tell you all about Star Wars (the 8 movies heâs seen at least) and loves going out of his way to bring up how Anakin was good and bad and good again when he died. Trust me, little kids learn and mimic and reenact all the things they get attached to. Also, he named his first fish Jengo Fett, and all following fish Boba Fett, so juries still out on how much he understands clones.
Kids pick up the language thatâs used around and to them. Mannerisms too. They are tiny, efficient mimics and it will come out at the WEIRDEST times. Young kids will ABSOLUTELY say all the stuff listed here.
My cousin was somewhere between two and three, and Iâd just arrived at her house, and sheâs animatedly telling me a story of some kind, and I listen as I make my way through the house, get to the couch, and kick my shoes off. She stops dead in the middle of her sentence, puts her hands on her hips, levels me with a glare the likes of which I havenât seen since, and goes, âWHAT are they doing there? Do you think the box at the front door is for DECORATION?â
Her mum, standing in the kitchen and watching all this, was GOBSMACKED. Apparently she said that exact phrase more often than she realised, and her kid had picked it up verbatim and started using it on unsuspecting guests (me).
(I got up and put my shoes in the box at the front door immediately)
My familyâs lore includes the time my mother offhandedly said to Cousinâs sonâwho was maybe fiveâthat Cousinâs wife certainly did have strong opinions about some minor thing, and the kid let out a sigh and said, in the driest and flattest and most world-weary tone youâve ever heard, âTell me about it.â
once i was helping with a class of 3 year olds and during drawing time one girl asked for a lion, specifically a lioness. i drew it and she just looked in silence so thinking she wanted a more liony lion i was like âdo you want me to draw a boy lion next?â and she gives me this đ¤¨ass affronted look and says âumm she doesnât NEED a man.â
Kids will do three things reliably:
Repeat what theyâve heard, incorrectly and/or in the wrong context, to comic effect
Repeat what theyâve heard in exactly the correct context, which is somehow even funnier
Casually knock you on your ass with some offhand, but utterly profound, original statement
"kids are detransitioning"
no. actually, children now feel comfortable and accepted enough to experiment with their gender, pronouns, name, and presentation. and while some of them end up realizing they were cis the entire time, they now have a new understanding and appreciation for one of the most marginalized and abused groups of people in the world.
there, I fixed your shitty headline.
Also quite honestly, if kids are detransitioning- so what? Honestly, good for them.
Nobody is doing surgery on trans kids. Nobody is doing anything more than MAYBE puberty blockers (which are clinically proven to be safe and are also the go to treatment for cis kids going through precocious puberty). If they decide that actually they're not the gender they thought they were, GOOD.
I want kids to feel safe trying things out. I want kids to experiment with their self expression, be it clothes or hair or gender. If it turns out to be "just a phase" I would far rather it be a phase that they are loved and supported through rather than something they feel is shameful and that they have to hide. I want them to feel like there's no pressure to go one way or the other, just to feel safe to figure themselves out in whatever way makes them comfortable.
Protect trans kids. Protect detrans kids. Protect questioning kids. Full fucking stop.
Investing in something that turned out to be not what you wanted, but nonetheless left you with insight into who you want to be? That's being alive for ya
Posted this on Twitter: I'm tired of the fear over trans kids. My son thought he's trans. Lived a year with different clothes, name and pronouns. Came back and said "I think I'm not a girl after all." We switched things back. Poof!
Side effects: he knows he'll have support in journeys of self discovery.
There's literally no harm. None. Years later and he's so open with me about his feelings and his needs. He knows I'll take him seriously and stand by him. He was never in danger just existing for a while as a trans kid, even though he didn't turn out to be one.
"But what if I identify A and wind up B?"
Then you did some exploring followed by some learning, and that is more than some people ever do.

everything about this is fucking hilarious. iâm sorry, random pompeii man, but your death was some looney tunes bullshit and the framing of this photograph isnât helping.

i didnât know this til i looked up the video on youtube, but this dude is a super cool and accomplished musician! his name is Rushad Egglestonâwikipedia describes him as âan innovative musician who has changed the way the cello is played,â but according to his personal website heâs a âcello goblin & otherworldly jester currently touring earthâÂ
