He was actually born in this hot spot! I asked JRo about it on Twitter some time ago, but it looks like it didn’t get a lot of passing around. But yeah, he was born in this one. Rodimus doesn’t know it for sure -- which is why he doesn’t say anything -- but he does suspect.

i hate coding because it doesn’t explicitly state things which means it’s up to the reader to determine what it means but in a way, i guess that makes sense. Functionists being in that kind of role, denying people the body they want to be in. Forcing them to the role they were created into. But ‘trans’ in Transformers has always translates to alt mode for me. like how not wanting to be the alt mode you were sparked into. I made a post about that a while back with Blurr, how he’s put into a different form than his racing car mode, and not feeling comfortable in this new skin, and how it eats at him n shit. 

the refs people linked were the arcee spotlight [which is the only actual confirmed instance of actual gender in transformers, and even then, it was designed, not naturally born], and node/anode or whatever they were. which is more a feels over facts because Arcee is the only actual female transformer. but i can get behind alt mode transitioning/switching.  but that’s just my opinion backed by some facts. in that Jhiaxus is the only one whose made an actual female. Because Arcee’s cna is different. whatever.

see it only makes sense if you believe robots have gender so i guess its a matter of believing in robogender. if i believed in robot gender, i could totally get down with robotransitioning. for now, i’m stuck with being satisfied with alt mode transitioning. maybe one day they’ll give a satisfactory explanation for robot gender and then i can jum pon board but until then i’m kinda just nahhhh

I know you’re probably done with this conversation, but from the sound of it you might not be up to date in IDW? Correct me if I’m wrong. But Lug and Anode are examples of two transgender cybertronians, and apparently aren’t the first in that universe. They explained they started out as “he/him”s and upon meeting “she/her”s on Caminus decided that fit better and decided to transition with both pronouns and appearance. (Anode, at the very least, explicitly says she changed her appearance for her transition)

I've kinda had similar suspicions of him as an outlier. But Megs is my favorite character out of the franchise, due to his rich character development in IDW. I need him to come back.

I don’t have any doubt that Megatron will come back sometime within the next year or two, though that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be James Roberts writing him. 

Megatron wasn’t exactly planned to be dropped into his hands when JRo started writing MTMTE with his storyline in mind, and I believe part of the reason why he was put on a bench for a while is that he overtook a story that wasn’t supposed to be his to tell.

I honestly think he might end up in Barber’s hands for a while again when he comes back. I feel like a good opportunity would be the Unicron crisis they’ve set up for.

Yeah, Barber is the former head editor for IDW Transformers (he stepped down to focus on writing) and the writer for exRID/The Transformers and Optimus Prime.  He also wrote ROM vs Transformers: Shining Armor and a bunch of the early war comics.

Right now the current status is that the core of Cybertron (Vector Sigma) has been corrupted, sending a pulse out that called to Unicron, so Unicron is going to be showing up sometime soon.

so James Roberts confirmed on me on the Tweeters that Rodimus was born in the Aylon/Hand of Primus hot spot and he doesn’t know this. At least, not for sure.

I FEEL LIKE THIS ISN’T A COINCIDENCE. Really like, I always thought that he wouldn’t show that hot spot if it wasn’t relevant somehow later and hmmmmm.
