Things I loved about project hail mary (spoilers under the cut):

Being able to see from Rocky's POV! This was so cool especially during the scene where he saves Grace 🥺

Seeing 'inside' the petrova line, that scene was amazing

Catching a few glimpses of planet adrian when the collection device drops down into its clouds! Also its surface like wow

Grace showing Rocky the actual Rocky movie

Grace being able to go onto Rocky's ship because he always wanted to in the book

All in all I loved the film, it brought the book to life so perfectly. There were a couple of things I didn't agree with (like the decision to have the end be open ended as to whether grace returns to earth because I think it's more conclusive in the book that he doesn't) but overall I think it was brilliant. The acting was amazing too and of course I absolutely loved Rocky.

extremely eerie and unsettling how the hive framed the joining as a ritualistic process, even if it was at kusimayu’s request, and then abruptly stopped singing the moment she joined. that was the very last instance of her culture existing on earth and they couldn’t even finish the song

the entire kusimayu scene was devastating but to me the worst part was that by Joining she not only lost her individuality but her culture died with her. immediately the hivemind stopped chanting and singing and speaking the quechuan language and rolled up their blankets and packed up their things and walked away. the animals were set free and the goat that kusimayu had been cradling so lovingly just minutes earlier chased after the hivemind wearing kusimayu's body and bleated for attention and love and got none because there is no one left to care specifically enough to give it.
