“Yeah? That does sound pretty lucky for me.” He stepped closer to her, grabbing one of her hands and twirling his girlfriend around with a little laugh of happiness. “Do you know how much love I have for you?”

“I’m glad you feel lucky.” It had been so long since she had been this happy, and he seemed to fit into her life so well. It was perfect, and she couldn’t believe she was this lucky. “No but please tell me.”

he shrugged, knowing very well that he was perfect for the job - he was an engineer who started off as a mechanic after all. “i gotcha,” he nodded, “give me about thirty minutes to an hour. you can hang out here if you need to.”

“Thank you.” A soft smile as she looked around for a moment. “Well it’s not really like I have anywhere to go or a way to get there so take your time.”

“i don’t doubt that alice,” he wanted to make that clear. he knew she was damn good at her job. “bring up that she has a job in entertainment without saying that its racing - maura has been doing it since she got her liscense. she only ever stopped when izzy was born.”

“Fine. Any other touches you feel you need to change with my case?” Sarcasm was clear on her tone but she was also grateful for the fact that he was willing to help. And loved that he cared. “Because anything that’s not changed in the next three hours is what I have to use.”

stubborn ass. “this is why angel doesn’t get along with you,” he sighed. “if you bring up maura’s past at all - let alone the fact she has a dangerous job - she will lose custody of izabella at first glace.” he hated that he couldn’t work on the case for his little sister.

“I take my work seriously.” She replied simply, although it bothered her that people didn’t get a long with her, when it came to her job nothing stood in her way of getting it done right. She let out a soft sigh, having a soft spot for custody battles. “Fine, how do you think I should bring it up? Do you have anything better?”

angel looked over at alice - not really a fan of attitude but he understood she was trying to make sure he could do the job. he looked back at the car and nodded, “yeah, i have the parts here and it won’t cost an arm and a leg. though you don’t really need an engineer - a mechanic should work just fine.”

“As long as you’re not ripping me off.” She started, biting her lip slightly as she nodded in agreement. “My dad doesn’t think I can do this on my own so I just need it fixed. You came the most recommended.”

Misha had to reset himself and he took the short trip from the exit door to the end of the alleyway for him to accomplish that. The dark haired man huffed a breath, a sigh really, the realization that he might have seemed off to Alice bothered him and Misha dropped his blue gaze to the young woman. Offering a somewhat apologetic smile the Russian slipped his hands into his jacket pockets and tried to pick up where he’d left off, food. “Ah, my apologies,” he said, “– I did not pick a place out prior to this, uh, shall we walk and see what is around?” He questioned, still feeling a bit uneasy but he was focused on not being as paranoid as he typically was. 

“Yeah, there’s a pretty good Chinese place up a few blocks, if you’re into that kind of food.” She was always worried about what the other person wanted, that she felt bad suggesting just one place. So instead her brain kicked it up and she just kept naming places. “There’s also a good sandwich shop, Italian, and a pizza place.” Stopping herself before she sounded crazy she kept her eyes, trying to see if his mood had shifted and there seemed to be more focus on the present but she was still slightly worried.

Matthew nodded a bit, still trying to process it. It was such a large city, that Matthew hadn’t expected him to run into such a clear connection to his estranged cousin. Sure, when Matthew had moved here, he had considered the possibility of encountering his cousin, but…he hadn’t expected anything like this. “Yeah, I guess that’s fair. Still, it’s kinda funny.”

Matthew smiled a little. “It is, and because the people doing a lot of the funding for it are located around here, it just ended up being easier to just move here to keep doing the research.” He laughed at her other comment. glancing over at her. “I don’t know, I think it might be too late for me.”

“It’s a small world, even in one of the busiest cities in the US.” Okay so she wasn’t really good with words, or talking in general. But she did her best and hopefully he didn’t find her totally weird. But so far he wasn’t running the other way so that had to be a good sign right? 

“Oh I’m sure. Besides, New York has a lot to offer. As long as you don’t mind garbage on the streets and constant traffic.” A small smile on her face as he commented about it being too late for him with rambling. “Well lucky for you, I am a master at handling the bug. So you can just keep rambling to me, I can take it.”

Sliding through the side door of the theater that lead into the alleyway, Misha paused to hold it open for the person who he was with. Glancing up then back down the alley. Although the sun was still up, it was getting close to setting and that only made the man want to get out of the open all the more. Some days he was more paranoid than others, today, he was a bit on edge– despite the good time he’d had watching the movie they had just gotten done seeing. “You, uhm, want to go eat?” He questioned, accent thick and his tone betraying how on edge he’d suddenly become.

She let him take the lead, Alice following behind and doing her best to keep up with him. She enjoyed the movie and was just happy to be getting back out on the field of hanging out with guys again. “Yeah, yeah that would be nice.” She replied softly, noting the fact that his actions and tone of voice seemed to indicate that something was off. She was dancing the line of saying something about it, but decided to just give it a little more time to see if his attitude shifted.
