Ben glared down the tower that he was still trapped in after so long, Mab kept trying everything to get him to join him and keep up her happy family aesthetic. Ben felt like everything he’d tried just about everything to get down and frankly he was hoping that now he had a pretty decent, albeit basic idea of how to get down.
Ben had been hoarding the sheets that had been given to him every day, claiming that no one brought him any before and insisting it was fine. He’d found a wonderful way to stash them, one of the tiles on his floor was loose and he’d spent the first week or two of him being there hollowing it out to be a storage compartment…well actually at first it had been a tunnel before he realized that he was at the top of a tower and that likely wasn’t a great idea. Now it was full of sheets which he was tying off to reinforce it to hopefully hold his weight otherewise he was in for a long fall and now Ben was sure he had almost enough to at least get down to the top of the next castle spire, from there he could find a window or something to climb into right? He hoped?
Ben tied the end to the bedpost and made sure it was secure before he began lowering his homemade rope out the window carefully and saying a silent prayer to whatever god decided to listen that he made it out of this alright. Ben took a deep breath and slid out onto the windowsill glancing down at the long drop before him and he shut his eyes for a moment gathering his courage before he started his descent down his rope below him
“a foolish shifter who thinks himself a Van Hellsing,” a voice hissed from further in the room sending another chill down Mab’s spine “all this time I’ve been here and this foolish fey has ignored my power lurking behind these walls, Power she so needs.”
Mab scowled at the hissing voice as she strode down the passage every bit the queen she was
“Power I need from a creature trapped in a wall?” Mab asked with a huff
“you would have kept your shakespeare if you had, would have had far less troubles with your Robin Hood or your Lady of the lake.”
Mab hardly noticed how the voice seemed to be drawing her in, guiding her down the passages without any help until she stumbled upon the rocks and spotted the giant purple crystals that lay half buried in the dirt and a black blotchy mass with stars in it moving around inside like ink in water
“Mordred, my faithful friend you should pick your company more carefully.”
“Times have changed and allies are far and few between old friend, I take them where I can find them.” Mordred looked to Mab then the darkness. “Hello Morbius. You look good, less corporeal. More darker than usual I think you preffer that.”
Morbius seemed to hiss in their darker form
"I prefer a more versatile form, can't take one until you release me my friend" morbius said mab raised a brow and looked over to mordred
"morbius? Such as the old folktales of the demon who tried to merge our world with that of the mortals?"
Mab sounded mildly amused until a sharp pain in her head made itself known and all she could hear for a moment was the creatures voice enveloping her in pain
"do not mock me child, I have lived a thousand lives more than you and will live thousands more after you are gone if you are not careful. Choose your words wisely"
And just like that the pain was gone, mab felt her entire form shake as she stared at the creature trapped in the crystal if it could do that from in there....what could it do out here?

Mab rolled her eyes
“easier said than done, thought I had banished your lady of the lake to the mortal world but apparently she’s returned and is rallying people against me again. No doubt that means she’ll rally against you as well” mab said bitterly a servant refilled her glass and she took another long drink
“Mmm perhaps but I know my Ace that is up my sleeve and I won’t find too many troubles. “Now then how well do you know this castle?” He stood and motioned for her to follow him.
“Well enough, I’ve found a few peculiar passages but many seem to be blocked off.” Mab said frowning at him as she started to follow him cautiously already thinking that if she needed to the stem of her wine glass would make a trusty weapon should he decide that he didn’t want her here any more

Mab looked up to the peculiar stranger with a frown in her bruised face
“who are you? Who dated enter my castle without my knowledge?”
The moment the words were spoken mab could feel an icy chill go down her spine and could practically feel a third presence that was simply amused by her
“Your castle?” He chuckled, “Your castle?” He tossed the dagger away, why is it yours because you found it?” He asked sweeping passed her before sitting on the throne. “Wine.” He commanded. “For the Queen of course and myself. A doctor to see to her.” He picked up a grape and ate it. “This castle was built some centuries ago and I think you will find that some places bear the arms of my house. There are many names I bear but the one most commonly spoken is Mordred.”
Mab folded her arms and raised a brow
“this castle is mine because I restored it, rebuilt this place with my own hands and have helped withered away the magic seals to bring it back to it’s glory. Mordred or not this is my home” she said stubbornly
Mordred scoffed, “as things built originally by mortals do. You may continue to call this place your home but as you may come to see, it isn’t really yours or mine.” He smirked.
Mab tried not to be offended but she did accept the wine when a servant brought it to her drinking down more than half in one go and then what was left in the other
“so then what brings mordred back here then? Thought you wanted to be a king among men?”
“Oh that hasn’t stopped but I figured it was high time to see on an old friend of mine,” he took the wine from a servant. “What brings the Fairies Midwife here to rule as Queen of the fallen Fae? I thought you had Titania’s ear and Oberyn’s as well.”
Mab scoffed
"not for centuries, I know the truth of titania's child and when no one listened that I was meant to be queen by their own laws I took matters into my own hands, nearly walked the pretty princess off a cliff and got sent here." Mab told him she remembered the crumbling state the castle had been in when she arrived here, crumbling and decaying until she worked through the magic barriers to rebuild it
"much has happened in your absence, including merlin rising again, damn traitor. If he's back I'm sure your arthur is not far behind"

The guards looked up confused from their doodles surrounded by paper, paints and crayons they'd been told to keep the children entertained and quiet why wouldn't they think to play with them for entertainment
"I take it the queen lost then?" The guard asked sighing he looked over to the twins
"afraid it's time for you two to go home then,"

Nimue had been working on her sword, her skin pale from putting as much of her magic as she could into the blade to dispell other magic. Mab had been thinking she was making a special weapon for her but this would be the key to all of their escape the moment it was done.
Nimue worked tirelessly on the blade ready to make their escape and finally stop mab once and for all.
The guards watched as she worked tirelessly, keeping an ever watching eyes on the black smith as she worked and nimue was fine with that as long as they didn't interfere with her enchantments before she finished them. As the blade was nearly finished she heard one of her guards approach her as she mixed the final potion
"wait a second," he started as the liquid in her glass turned purple "hey isn't that-"
Nimue didn't give him time to answer as she slammed her elbow back into his helmet knocking him back before she lifted the sword from it's place and thrust the holy harshly into his stomach. The second guard quickly got his wits about him and charged forward as nimue used the blade to slice her chains and parry the blow that came at her quickly enough. The commotion would no doubt bring more guards and here she had though the distraction of the ball would be perfect for her to hide, evidently not. The guard knocked her feet out from under her and knocked her flat on her back nimue was momentarily dazed before she caught up with what had happened as he grabbed her by the scruff if her shirt and threw her into her work table
"you wicked little-"
Nimue grabbed her final potion though it wasn't ready yet and cursed as she threw it in the guards face and ran as he screamed in pain and rage as she ran as fast as she could to only to have her misfortune to run straight into a small cluster of guards waiting.
Her luck was definitely not with her that night as the guards surrounded and captured her and one went to go get the queen from her ball as nimue was once more secured in her chains.
Mab was enjoying the ball, her citizens were surprisingly cheerful in the party and knowing that Harper was home to be their next queen should anything happen to mab, that was until w guard approached her and softly told her the news
"the sorceress lied my queen, she created a blade to dispell your enchantments" he informed her mab seethed before she sighed
"bring her to the throne room and I'll deal with her there don't let this ruin the ball"
Mab raised a brow and nimue seemed just as surprised to see casper all dressed up for the ball
"a lesson... perhaps a public execution would be better but if hate to sully Harper's beautiful night. Plus there's also the repercussions of avalon and all that lovely drama to deal with" mab said thoughtfully
“No, a lesson that only an immortal like Nimue can learn, while it would ring through the minds of the people well to execute her. Why not instead send her to where she will have no friends. Exile to the human world. All of those she would find friends with are here.” Casper smiled at Mab ignoring Nimue. “It would also keep Titania from getting her hands on Nimue as well, her magic will do her no good in the mortal realm.”
Mab frowned and seemed to think it over
"she used to have friends in the human world, given that was you and your pet arthur though you do seem rather attached to your new shifter" mab said distastefully she looked merlin over suspiciously
"who would be to say that's she wouldn't just make more friends? Find a forge there mortals are dumb but not useless"
“And they have moved beyond the need of a forge, besides even if she did she can’t make a portal even if she tried. Her magic doesn’t work like that.” Casper looked at Mab. “The age of magic and swords are gone. She will find no friends there.”
"then what if the mortals that came after Will? Bearing swords and bows and whatever else." Mab said she eyes nimue as the lady began fidgeting with shackles only to stop under the watchful eye of the demon queen
“I tell you they are all here, the allies they have are here and scattered to the wind. The moment she starts ranting and raving about any of them the humans will disregard her.” Casper looked at Mab. “And remember she won’t last long if she doesn’t get back to fey soil. I doubt she will find any help in such endeavors.”
Mab seemed to strongly consider this before she smiled and nodded
"very well, then you'll cast her out right?" Mab asked him with a sugary sweetness "I've realized I've trusted you rather blindly and well trouble had come my way, not entirely your fault but if you want her to live so bad you'll show your loyalty to me and be the person to rid us of her right?"
