When you talk about coming back and the IMMEDIATELY catch "The Vid."
Sorry that I haven’t been on Gus’s account in a while. A lot happened last year, and some issues arose on sight that I watched from the outside until they imploded, and it made my drive/muse for this verse crash. I’m still in love with ToH and I still want to be here, I just find it somewhat difficult with my anxiety and all. With that being said I am going to try to be around to write, so if there’s anyone around that’s still interested feel free to interact with me. I’ll try to send things out to everyone else that I know I owe. Again, I apologize.
“ i never should’ve dragged you into this. “
"WE CAN DISCUSS THAT LATER, PULL UP PULL UP!" He slammed his eyes shut as he held on tightly to his staff while pulling up and hoping that Luz would follow his directions to do the same. The creature chasing them had been far beyond pleased by the two of them lurking on its turf. Gus had made a slight miscalculation and slid into the creature's den, and made the assumption with how big it was and how the den was so small that it would take a bit for it to squeeze out. It never occurred to him how it managed to get inside to begin with and so he brazenly took the multicolored mushroom that was needed for a spell and that was how he was flying through the sky, practically laying on his staff and then trying to pull back to avoid a tree before blindly casting an illusion of himself and his companion - making them all split up to hopefully throw the winged beast off their trail or at least confuse it enough for them to hide and maybe try to mask their scent or even get to the Owl House for Eda to help. Whichever came first.
“ i never should’ve dragged you into this. “
He sat up with a pained wheeze while slipping his hand to the side of his head. Warm liquid coated his finger and he hastily snatched his hand away before casting a slight illusion over himself before Luz could really get a look at him. He didn't need her to worry. "Don't blame yourself," he said as he stood up and tried not to wobble on his feet. "I made the choice to come along. You didn't drag me anywhere. We're in this together, remember?"

Gus was feeling the exact same way as Viney, not knowing if his dad would be safe and it ate away at him immensely. Without his mom gone it had only been him and his dad for a long time. He didn't know what he would do if the dust settled and his dad was gone too, but he also knew that he had to prioritize. As much as it pained him, as much as it terrified him, as much as the thought of losing his father horrified him he had to keep himself safe. He had to be strong when it was hard to keep himself together because falling apart meant there was a greater risk of slipping up, and slipping up meant the government catching them.
He couldn't form those thoughts into words to express them without sounding harsh. He knew he had a tendency to be a bit harsh or speak without thinking and Willow had to sometimes amend his statements, or telling him that they weren't going to go a certain route or just...translate for him. He didn't have Willow at the moment - some of them having been separated and all. That meant he really had to think things through...
"I can't say that everything will be alright as much as I really, really, really, want to, but we have to hope that our parents, our family and our friends are alright. None of us knows what's going on or what tomorrow will bring, but if we want to at least live to see tomorrow then we can't do it without taking care of ourselves as best we can, and that means resting when we have the chance. We can't run and we can't fight if we're tired, and you...you look exhausted, and if you want I can keep trying to contact your mom's while you rest, and if they respond I can wake you up?"

“Well if it’s dangerous then that’s all the more reason to have you stay,” he stated without hesitation. Of course it he probably should have asked for more details on what it was he was getting himself into exactly, but at the end of the day he knew that he wouldn’t turn away someone in need, especially when he felt that he could trust that individual with his life. Hunter had proven to him, time and time again, that he was on the level - willing to help him and his–oh. Oh.
He remained quiet for a few moments longer as he tried to find the right words to ask his question. He knew that he could be a little harsh when he spoke without thinking - Willow having to tell him no on a few occasions. This was different, and yet try as he might, he couldn’t find a way to word the question.
“It’s Belos, isn’t it? You’ve been helping Luz and the rest of us, he’s mad at you isn’t he?”
IT’S NOT SOMETHING HE WANTS TO THINK ABOUT. He practically curls in on himself, shoulders hunching–Hunter looks away, ears pinned to the sides of his head. Flapjack chirps softly, nuzzling against his cheek. Hunter takes a deep breath, looking up at the ceiling and blinking back tears.
“I wouldn’t say mad.” He sniffs. “I think–” he chokes on a frightened, bitter little laugh. “I think he’s just disappointed his little–his pet project didn’t pan out.”
Hunter scrubs a hand over his face, taking a deep, shuddering breath. “I’m pretty sure he just wants to kill me.”
He said that he wasn't going to ask and he did so anyway. Now he was facing the consequences.
"I--" There was so much wrong with what he just heard that he needed a moment to play it back in his head. What did he mean by pet project? Was it something about the Golden Guard? Like, a child soldier thing and with Hunter helping people that oppose Belos it would make him a traitor and a failure? That wasn't right, and yet it was the only thing he could think of that made sense in a dark and twisted way.
What made it worse? What made it so much worse is that he was hearing that the Emperor probably just wants to kill him. Gus's ears dropped as his eyes widened. There was no way that was right and Gus, without thinking, tried to argue that, "Maybe not kill. Maybe reprogram?" That wasn't the right word, or words, but it was better than being killed because if he was alive then he still had a chance to escape than getting caught...
"But of course not being captured or hunted is the better option." He moved from his room for a few seconds and returned with two cartons of Apple Blood - non-alcoholic of course - and passed one to Hunter. He then sat on his bed cross legged.
"I doubt Belos will look for you here, and I doubt my dad will be too upset if you stayed and if he is, Eda could probably help. I'm saying that whatever's going on, regardless of the danger, you have options and people who are willing to help you out so you really, really don't have to be alone. The choice is yours on whether you want to stay or not, but think about it? You’re my friend and I don’t want anything bad to happen to you, and if that’s too mushy for you then...well, you know more about the Emperor’s Coven and you not being caught and able to help us is definitely a plus?

“It just comes with the headache,” he said as he rubbed his head and began to squint. It would go away when his head wasn’t throbbing, at least he assumed. This was sort of a new experience, but he knew that he probably should wait for it to pass or get help to navigate so that he wouldn’t walk into anyone or anything. However, what he was not expecting was to be hoisted into the other’s arms.
He couldn’t help it if his immediate response was to flail as gravity relinquished its hold long enough for Hunter to holdl him in his arms. It was…so awkward and he found himself groaning from not just the slight sense of vertigo but from embarrassment. He probably should have seen this coming. His face darkened as he kept his eyes closed thinking that perhaps if he didn’t look he couldn’t see all the potential stares that they were liable to get. He didn’t want people to think he was like, that weak. At the same time he wasn’t going to openly complain about it. he didn’t have to walk anywhere. Still though…
“You could have just led me around and made sure I didn’t walk into anything,” he commented though not unkindly and with his eyes still closed. He shifted a bit so that he was just a tiny bit more comfortable in the other’s hold. “Too late now.” He opens on eye. “Maybe we should try the cafeteria first? They would have to have ice in there.”
“I probably could have, but this makes things simpler and honestly quicker.” A practical mind as always. He could’ve just taken Gus by the hand, but that doubled the people on foot, and if they needed to get through a narrower space or anything along those lines, it would be slower going with both of them walking. So up the steps of Hexside he went, Gus fully supported in his arms while Hunter did his best to keep steady and avoid too much movement that might make the younger boy’s headache worse.
Sure, they got a couple of odd looks, but those were quickly deterred by Hunter giving his own stare back at them, and one that clearly was daring them to say or do anything. The occasional whispers had his ears flicking back a bit in mild agitation, but he said nothing. He wasn’t about to get into any fights right now, and honestly would rather avoid them. Surprisingly though, most of the whispers weren’t about Gus, but instead were about Hunter himself. The former Golden Guard, still lingering around the school even though he wasn’t a student, and after they had had all that trouble while he’d been hiding out here the first time. He didn’t blame them for, well, wanting to blame him. He was the next best thing to the Emperor’s scouts that they had to pin it all on.
But he pressed on, choosing not to respond to the whispers and accusations, the suspicion and distrust. What mattered to him right now was helping his friend. Finally, they’d reached the cafeteria, and Hunter gently set Gus down at a table, a gloved hand lingering on his arms.
“Just wait here. I’ll be right back with some ice, okay?”
Gus was absolutely not out of it enough to miss the whispers happening as they made their way towards the school. While most of the comments and jibes weren't directed at him the ones that were didn't exactly compare to the ones that were being made about Hunter. He could hear the accusations thinking that Hunter was the reason why he was in this state or that something strange was going on. The fact that Hunter was even still on campus after the stunt that happened with the Emperor's Scouts despite having Willow and even Gus himself vouch for him. He could understand their concern, but Hunter was clearly trying to change. He was trying to show that he was not his uncle's puppet.
Gus opened his eyes and offered a weak glare as well, but he wasn't fooled into believing was enough to deter anyone despite his powerful display of illusory magic and so he closed his eyes again. At least those that were paying attention to him knew where he stood on the situation with Hunter. The guy was his friend and he deserved to be here just as much as anyone else. Heck, he probably should have been there more than anyone else. He really had a ton to learn, not just about magic but social interaction on general. That, however, was beyond the point.
Once the duo reached the table and Gus was set down, he let himself flopped into the seat and nodded his head before lowering it to the surprisingly cool tabletop. He exhaled before turning his head so that his cheek was on it and so that he was facing Hunter.
"I don't think I want to move, so no worries there." And he once more turned to rest his forehead on the table while letting out an exaggerated sigh of relief.

“To go against the Emperor is to try and live a life outside of his rules.” Luz snorted, smiling as she thought about her wild witch mentor. Eda was one of the most well known wild witches, but there were others… others that would disappear one day and not come back.
… Titan, she wondered if they were okay. It’s been getting harder and harder to find people. Prim was starting to reject the title of wild witch recently…
“To start…” Luz tapped her feet against the ground.
She spun a spell circle, pure red, and had a sleeping bag drop out of it. That wasn’t a part of her wild magic demonstration, but just to prepare for sleeping here for the night. “There are other wild witches out there, most are just in hiding to stay away from Belos’ scouts. Out on the edges of town, where he has less influence.”
Luz had simply been born around this area and went to Hexside. She was loud and proud, and she wasn’t the type to sit down and die. Camila wasn’t a wild witch, too, and she…
… Luz diverted her thoughts back to wild witches. She didn’t want to think about arguing with her mom.
“Or you could talk to Eda. Trust me, I’m just starting to get my words, but Eda has plenty of words about the Emperor.” Luz giggled. “Mostly negative!”
"Well it's not like I can just go out to the town's edge and start yelling for wild witches to come out. I don't think that would really go over well."
He didn't know that, nor did he realize that Belos's influence out there was weakened. He supposed that it was hard to maintain the safety of the town when you had to send people to the edge of it which effectively divided the scouts and made them easier to pick off. Logically it would be easier to have the bulk of the scouts in town to protect those who obeyed the rules in place for their safety, and to catch the wild witches when they inevitably had to return to town for some reason or the other. It was an intense game of waiting, and Gus wasn't sure how he felt about it.
"Talk to Eda?" Her wanted poster had the most zeroes on it and so the idea of even approaching her out in the open where anyone could see was almost a terrifying idea. Wouldn't interaction with her put him in danger our treason just based off of proximity to her? Despite the fear and uncertainty his drive to learn and understand was bolstered due to Luz's reaction. Her giggling was amused, not dark, and it calmed him down just a smidgeon. It also help that he was trying to picture his friends as wild witches - the ones who were "on the wrong path" so to speak.
"You know what? I'll do it. I'll talk to the Owl Lady." Honestly, besides Luz, she might be the only person that he could talk to unless he really wanted to try to find other wild witches. Eda, at least, was easy to find and if she wasn't Luz would definitely be able to put in a good word for him. Or take him to her. "You'll go with me, r-right?"

Last week was a bad week, and I’m sorry for not being here. I’m checking in now but I’m going to try to get a nap in. If I don’t I’ll be selectively replying on Discord. I have saved all of my drafts and the ones I didn’t start trying to write out last week I’m planning to do them through this week and if not then on the weekend. My allergies have been really bad, and at work there’s only about three of us unloading the contents on two airplanes though when the outside crew comes inside (pretty much when mostly everything is almost done) they do help out where they can. So until we can get more people on the sort unload/small sort I’m probably going to be wiped out every week. So I do apologize and hope you guys can be patient with me. I’m still here. I have not abandoned, and I do not plan to abandon. Just tired. @_@

I will be here this weekend. This has been a terribly week, my allergies are acting up, my van was hit, etc. I’m probably going to be on Discord and a bit selective. Also reading and...my brother’s girlfriend got me into Fortnite so...I’ll most likely be there today. I just need to unwind. So hopefully I’ll be here late Saturday night thru Monday afternoon?
ooc://Special Appearance
Im checking in. I know I said id be here today but something came up. I will try to be here tomorrow tho. :)

My allergies are winning, and the meds I took are kicking in somewhat. So before I start replying with weird cryptic messages (weirder than my usual responses with missing words, typos, etc) I’m going to log off and try to read more of my books lmao. I don’t I will get anywhere though so I’ll probably walk the creechur and turn in early. I should be here tomorrow after work. Might also lurk on Discord. Anyway, night all!

“A certain Owl Lady told me you were quite the Illusionist, little one. And at such a young age as well.”
"A certain--" why did it take him as long as it did to remember who Eda was? Probably because he was caught completely off-guard by this total stranger. He found himself turning a tad red at what sounded like a compliment. "I mean, I'm no Adrian Graye Vernworth, but I get the job done. Who, uh...who're you?"
"You would tell me if something was wrong wouldn't you?"
"Of course!" His response was immediate which, in any other situation, might have shown little hesitation he needed to answer her. She was his best friend - his first real friend, and he found that she was easy to talk to. He could tell her pretty much anything. This time, however, there was an air of deception that colored his words; he felt it the moment they passed his lips and lingered in the air. He couldn't even maintain eye contact with her for longer than a few fleeting seconds. "You'd be the first one I tell," he said, a little slower but not enough to placate whatever suspicious might have arose due to his initial response. "It's nothing. Um, you'd tell me if something was wrong too, right?" Misdirection. He could get away with a little misdirection right?
“ i’m not a good person. “ ( angsty prompts, from grimhunts )
"I--" He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what he even should say. The fact of the matter was that he was stunned into silence watching whom he thought was a friend stand before him with intentions unclear. "You're kidding, right?" He had a feeling that the other wasn't; that something had gone completely and totally wrong. "We're friends. We bonded? You are a good person, I know it. Everyone does."
