my username is magelin (pronounced mage-lean if you were wondering, for some reason), i also go by loreance or magelinlin on some other sites. (including this one lol) just call me mage/maggie/maggey!

i like to draw and code sometimes. also biology is rad.

Remember when Lil Nas X beautifully explored his sexuality, seduced and killed the devil to the banger of all time, and instead of cheering on this openly gay and proud Black artist for his artistry and fighting back against respectability politics, suddenly said respectability politics was all the Queerest Place on the Internet cared about? Hm. Wonder what happened there.

Like say what you want about "bad queer representation", but this was the song that made me openly and happily accept that I was bisexual. I hope you don’t mind me dropping a cool Black historical figure that honestly needs a movie made about him. Guy’s name was Robert Harlan, he was born enslaved in 1816, and at 16 while still enslaved he opened a business that was successful enough that he was able to save profits and purchase a race horse. He began making big money racing and gambling at horse race tracks and got really good at it just off being observant (about things like recent wins, the condition certain horses were in, that kind of thing). Ran a successful grocery store, eventually got his wife and daughters out of Kentucky and went out to California to make a fortune (which he did). Traveled to Louisiana and purchased his mother’s freedom. Became a trustee for Black schools in Cincinnati, Ohio. Owned a ritzy hotel with all kinds of Underground Railroad hiding places (during which he employed P.B.S. Pinchback, who would become the first Black governor of a US state- Louisiana in his case- ever during reconstruction). Was wealthier than the man who had owned him before the Civil War even started. Went out to England to race horses for a decade and skipped out on the whole war. Served in the Ohio House of Representatives. Today I wanted to talk about Kyle Bassinga. Kyle was a 21 year old man from Georgia, whose family described him as "a kind, thoughtful, and smart young man who loved nature, music, and the people around him". Kyle Bassinga was killed on February 18th 2026, just ten days after his birthday. He was found hanging from a tree in a park.

The police ruled it a suicide. The family and local community demanded an investigation. The police refused to change their ruling.

I know this website it too white for this to really go anywhere, but an understanding of the present reality of white supremacy in the United States is just so important to transfeminism here. Lynchings never stopped, white supremacy never went away, you just stopped looking.
