James couldn’t help but laugh at being spun around. Once he was on the ground again he playfully nudged Sirius with a wink. “You always look good you dog you!”

He gave a small nod at his comment. In all honesty, so was James. “Great man, some call him. Didn’t say me but you know… Some people… Hey, it’s all right actually! I issued a sex ban and then broke it within the hour… It’s great! Actually, it’s sort of why I’m here…”

“Some people are idiots,” he replied. He reached into his liquor cupboard and pulled out a bottle to fill both of their glasses. James was here- this was a special occasion. Sirius carried the drinks back to the sofa and handed one to James. He snorted before sipping at his drink. “Why on earth would you issue a sex ban?”

Sirius raised an eyebrow and laughed. “What, are you here to break it with me too?”

He smirked and shook his head. "Sadly, no mate. I imposed it to prove I could! But, like I say, it didn't really last." James chuckled and then was silent for a moment.

"Lily is um... Well, she's pregnant. I'm going to be a dad Padfoot..." He grinned looking at his fairness face for some kind of reaction.

“When don’t I look good?” He retorted, then began to laugh. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for years! Oh, joy!” Sirius spun James around, feeling as goofy and young as ever. When was the last time they’d acted like this? 

“Dumbledore this, Dumbledore that,” he said, going over to his kitchen. “I’m tired of hearing about the old bastard.” Sirius shrugged as he pulled out two glasses from a cupboard. “Same old. And you? Married life make you want to kiss a dementor yet?” He teased.

Silent Night - 1980 Remus&James

Through his laughter, Remus nodded in agreement. “Sounds like a plan to me”, he grinned, knowing fairly well that any arguing with James would be futile. They were brothers, and that was what they treated each other as, no matter how embarrassed it sometimes made him feel to rely on his wealthy friends. Even with Doe, it was her apartment; she would never allow him to pay for groceries, or anything much at all. Remus’ friends were the reason why he had not yet starved and frozen.

As James hugged him once more, Remus put his arms around his friend too. It was somehow hard to let go; it always was with friends these days. Though the thought was morbid, they never knew whether it was the last time. “It’s good to be here. Now go to sleep, princess Prongs.”

“Oh, I will. You will be okay, watching him, right? No one can get in through the doors but on the off chance... Take Harry, take him far away from here. We’ll find you, we’d tear the world apart for our boy...” He said sighing heavily. His eyes looked into the crib and he gave a solemn nod. “Right, I’m sodding off to bed. Night mate.” James gave one last smile and left the living room. He stood in the landing making sure the enchantments were all in order. Nothing was going in or out.

Tonks sat on the floor playing with his truck, James seemed boring and he didn’t understand why uncle Sirius like the other Gryffindor so much; however he tried to concern himself with other things.

The man with the glasses asked him a question and he turned, “Quidditch? Yes! I love it!” he said excitedly, “B-rooms and Blu-bludgers!” he commented changing his short hair to bright pink as he spoke.

James grinned, perhaps he had a chance at bonding with this child. “Well, I used to play for the Gryffindor Quidditch team you know? I was the Chaser and the Captain at a time. I was kind of a big deal.” He grinned.

Daisy giggled, “Damn Potter, how do others compete? The prefect man has finally been found.” She gestured dramatically to him.

“Okay fine! You can be a model, but only after You Know Who is gone. I think the baby would enjoy having a model father.” Lily grinned, walking towards the bed slowly. “Am I? Still going to try to with hold sex, or have I won yet?” She said, her hands resting over the button of her jeans, just in case he wasn’t ready to give up.

James smirked and nodded. “I’d be great. Walking up and down cat walks, flashing a smile. That’s the life for me Lil’s.” He turned his head away very close to giving in. “I am. I have will power.”

We’re supposed to be in hiding.” Lily tilted her head as he attempted to remove his pants and she laughed. “You’re not as good as me at this one James.” She said, uncrossing her arms and placing her hands on the waistband of her jeans.

“You make that sound like it’s a bad thing! I mean, after! You know, when You Know Who is dead and the baby can grow up in a world without fear and their daddy is a famous model!” He grinned. It soon faded once she removed her hands. He bit down hard on his lip. “You’re very good at this...”

“A stay at home husband? We may need to get muggle jobs James, just so that we don’t get kicked out or anything. It can also keep our cover better.” She shrugged, crossing her arms over her chest and turning back to him, glancing at his grip on the sheets. “What’s cheating?” She said coyly.

“A muggle job?! But.. Lily, magic! It’s all I’m good at! I can’t build things, ooh! Can I be a model? I’m good at looking hot.” He smirked but then gave her a look. “Oh, you know what Lily Potter. Fine, two can play at this game.” He started to undo his belt and unzipped his jeans. He kicked them off very unappealingly and sat there in his briefs. “Oops...”

“You’re a horrible influence Potter, though you are a wonderful husband.” Lily smirked, she could hear him grit his teeth and with that she unclasped her bra and let it fall to the floor, keeping her back turned. “I’m so sure.” She mumbled, looking at him.

“That I am. The second the wars over, I’ll get a proper job Lil’, either that or be the stay at home husband.” He said shrugging lightly. He saw her bra fall and he gripped the bed sheets quickly. “Now... That’s cheating.”

James listened intently as she filled him in. He had been meaning to get into contact with a lot of people lately, yet the Order kept him pretty busy. Whenever they needed someone he was always the first there, simply because he didn’t want his friends to take them. Not in a selfish way, he just didn’t want them to go out there and ended up in Mungos. He trusted them all but he knew he was more expendable than they were. “Good…”

He smirked and then finally saw in the corner of his eye Peter fun back into the dance hall looking flushed. He could only assume that Lily had found him and had given him a just deserved scolding. “I should probably check on my wife… Merlin, that’s weird. Hey listen, we’ll have that dinner, I promise.”

Marlene’s gaze followed James’ and she couldn’t help to laugh and shook her head in disbelief. 

“Alright Mr. Busy, you can owl me whenever you are free and I’ll see if Mad Eye is feeling generous enough as to let me have dinner” she joked. “I might go and find Remus, I need a dancing partner”

Lily looked at him over her shoulder. “Perhaps.” She teased, turning into their bedroom. “You’re enjoying calling me Mrs. Potter way too much.” She said with a laugh, looking around for pyjamas.

He quickly followed her up the stairs and coyly laid against the door frame. “Suits you... A large part of me is very sad I can’t keep calling you Evans.” He shrugged and walked into the bedroom taking off his shirt and sitting on the bed. “Boy, is it hot in here...” He teased back.

“Fine.” Lily said softly, going close enough to whisper in his ear. “Then I’ll just go upstairs by myself.” She mumbled, kissing his cheek softly then heading towards the staircase. “You’re welcome to join me if you’d like.” She called from the stairs.

Silent Night - 1980 Remus&James

No, Remus had certainly not expected to end up with Doe. He had wished for it, yes, but never made it out to be a possibility; she had worked long and hard to sway him from his position. And he did love her, oh how much. For James however, he had always somehow expected to see a happy end. It was just a matter of time until Lily would see the side of him that had been so obvious to the Marauders all along, and that side was one nobody could not love. The comment about Peter made Remus snort lightly, but he felt ashamed of it right away and nudged James lightly with his elbow. “Pete will find someone as well. Someone who takes better care of him than we do, lately.”

Before he knew it, there was a warm blanket bunched up in his arms. Of course, he should have known better than to show signs of weariness in front of James. It was one of those things that had lasted them from their school days; they were brothers, looking out for each other. Remus would have done the same for James, no question. Going out into the dark these days was not particularly safe to begin with, after all. Besides, he did not dare argue, with the unmistakable gaze James gave him. “Alright”, the werewolf agreed instead, his lip twitching into a light smile. Doe was not home, she would not be worried if he did not come home; and the werewolves were aware that he would not return for the night wither way. “Lily would be okay with it, right? I don’t want her to find me here in the morning and get a heart attack..”

"No, it's fine. I'll just tell her there's a murderous werewolf sleeping in our couch watching over our infant son, she'll be fine." He chuckled softly. Lily wouldn't mind, ever since leaving Hogwarts Remus had been over more times than he could count, he didn't mind. Knowing his best mates were safe and out of the cold was enough.

James stretched and let out a small yawn. "I should probably head to bed then mate, if you need anything, there's food in the fridge and the bathroom is down the hall." He gave Remus a reassuring smile as he threw his arms around him once more. "It's good to have you back Moony..."

Lily: Okay, our house is burning down and you can save the treacle tart or me. What do you choose?

James: Well, that’s not fair. The tart doesn’t have legs.
