Am I the only one whose not fully on board with Carlos/Jane? [Descendants]
Ok, I know Jane was a lot better in movies 2 and 3 but I cannot get over the fact on how she treated Mal in movie 1 when Mal helped improve her appearance and yet she went out of her way to taunt Mal when Mal never provoked her. I don't know I guess I sometimes feel that the guys when they do something bad, they are punished far less than girls. Like the whole Ben and Uma thing, Carlos was quick to turn on him to be protective over Mal. But why wasn't he protective in D1 when Jane hurt Mal and later even dated her?
I know - I know, Jane got better but given what a pure soul Carlos is, I just felt he deserved better than her.
I personally really like Carlos x Jane because I love seeing the growth they both have.
In saying that if descendants had made JANE the villain (from the end of D1) then they WOULD have had the 'sympathetic villain' troupe they were going for with audrey. Jane's self confidence issues and the fact that she had the idea planted in her head. Would have set up an understandable/actually sympathetic motive and would have had the set up for a redemption arc at the end.
Ooh I like the idea of Jane as a sympathetic villain because I did not care about Audrey being sympathetic. Like girl no, you emotionally abused a guy, you don’t get to act like you were heartbroken.
I think Audrey would have worked as a sympathetic villain to me if it had happened soon after d1. Like, shortly after news got out about Mal spelling Ben, and why (the real reason) and he stayed with her and still hadn't apologized to Audrey for how they broke up (because breaking up with your girlfriend in front of the school by declaring your love for another girl is pretty shitty, particularly when it's the child of your family's enemy) - then it would make sense for her to snap and grab the scepter.
But having her not snap for a whole year, year and a half afterwards, depending on how you see the timeline, just makes her seem like a jealous, petty ex who somehow never moved on or mentioned it earlier.
I agree with everything except calling what Ben did shitty because he was drugged and raped by Mal (it’s a Disney movie but going on a date while he’s drugged the implications are there) and also his girlfriend had no trust in him to see he’s acting odd. Blaming Ben for the whole thing is taking away so much responsibility from both Audrey and Mal. Blame the perpetrators not the victim
Yeah I agree, I know ben was drugged so it wasn't his fault, but no one except the 4 vks knew that at the time, so to everyone else, at that time, it was pretty bad that happened.

You know, Evie kind of comes off as manipulative in Descendants 2. Maybe manipulative isn't the best word, but it's late. Anyways, its mostly in how she treats Mal. (Warning, I am being very critical of Evie here, so if you like her, this might not be for you XD)
The first scene with her is her pulling Mal away from Ben for a dress fitting. The next is her ignoring Mal, putting her down for using magic, and then telling her to forget the Isle cause they're "Auradon girls" now. When Lonnie and Jane mention marriage, she doesn't seem concerned about Mal's panic over it. Once they're back in Auradon, she pulls Mal away from the boys and (As I've mentioned before) seemed upset when Carlos wouldn't let them go off on their own.
Honestly, it's almost like she was trying to make Mal dependent on her. Which does seem evident, until Harry or Uma shows up, when Mal leans on Jay.
And in a way, it actually does make some sense when you think about Evie's backstory. She was alone for ten years. The only company she had was her mother. So her latching onto someone and wanting them to herself does make sense, in a way, as she might be scared of them walking away. What better way to make sure someone doesn't walk away then making them dependent on you?
Preach this!!! You are absolutely not wrong. Evie’s also not the nicest to Ben. Claiming she wants to protect him but then willing to let Uma kill him to protect Auradon. Oh sure I’d love to see you have your fairytale without Ben being in Auradon.
Oh my gosh, this!! "Oh so we're just going to let Uma have the wand?" YES!! Because Ben, your friend, the person your "best friend" is in love with, the only reason you were even able to get off the Isle, and the High King of Auradon is a bit more important than the wand.
And on top of that, what did she think was going to happen if Ben died on the Isle? Not only would Auradon likely break out into chaos as it doesn't seem like they know who's next in line (at least, Chad doesn't), but she and the others would be blamed. Since they are the ones who went with him to the Isle.
I could be wrong about this... but if Auradon didn't have someone in line after Ben until he gets heirs, then it could just go right back to his parents until they decide on who they want. And I can't see the Beast or Belle of canon descendants not sending them back if they let Ben die there. Like, even in my au, where Beast and Belle are basically the same as their og movie selves and are super nice & forgiving, they would probably still want to punish them in some way for that, even if it isn't sending them back to the isle.
I understand why the four of them didn't tell anyone about that until they had to, and that they didn't want to free their parents or any of the other villains, but with how much Lonnie seemed to like her parents, why didn't she apparently not send them or her brother a quick text, then they could've got something set up to get Ben without destroying the barrier, idk. But anyway, I feel like this is a time where saving Ben comes first, then figuring out what to do about the broken barrier & villains being free.
... And that would've made a great 3rd movie, now that I thought about it.
Neither Jafar or Aladdin appear to have nails in their movie. Just saying.
I was trying to look at Aladdin’s out of curiosity and he didn’t have any, and so I looked for some of the other characters. Jasmine, the Sultan, Genie, and even that marketplace stall owner have nails. But not these two.
#excuse me but are you telling me that the Apollo pic is made with the help of the SUN and the Artemis one with the help of the MOON??? #that's actually so poetic i want to cry
@gorandomshesaid wait i need to sit with this one. wait.
This made my brain light up like I am a sleeper agent activated by the potential to traumatize VKs????
anyway in my heart this is a group chat after Mal was invited to do a fancy solo event as a Royal Girlfriend, which is why she’s the first to experience the blasphemy of Blue Cheese Tray
VKS ALL DAY (group mms)
Mal: TERRIBLE TIMES HAVE BEFALLEN THE NOBLE HOUSE OF MAL
Mal: HYPOCRICY RUNS RAMPANT THROUGHOUT THE LAND
Mal: THOSE WE ONCE CALLED COMRADES HAVE BETRAYED OUR TRUST. SACRED BONDS OF RESPECT HAVE BEEN BROKEN. VIOLATED. THROWN AWAY.
Mal: MUCH LIKE THIS BULLSHIT SHOULD BE

Mal: WHEN WE EAT MOULDY FOOD IT'S ""BAD""" and ""UNSANITARY"" and ""OHHHH YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THAT ANYMORE 🥺🥺🥺"""
Mal: BUT WHEN THESE FUCKING HYPOCRITICAL ASSHOLES (message not sent)
Mal: FUCK (message not sent)
Mal: is there a language filter on the school network
Evie: Yes
Carlos: yes
Mal: disgusting. Much like this so-called food. It’s VILE. When these ungrateful royal morons bother to notice what they put in their own mouths it's "'FINE"" because THEIR mold is ""CULTURED"" but when I DO IT I AM PATHETIC?????
Mal: I am going to shove their mold cultures so far down their throat that it can touch the stick they all seem to have up their royal behinds.
Carlos: yeah it’s gross
Mal: wait when did you get to eat this stuff
Carlos: uh
Carlos: I am invoking my right to remain silent. I’m also invoking my right to a lawyer @ evie??????
Evie: [blocked message]

Evie: oh I actually can’t serve in a court of law unless I get my retaining fee of one Hundred William Dollars first.
Jay: I’ll be legal counsel
Mal: BETRAYAL ON ALL SIDES
Mal: anyway it’s gross and Audrey laughed at me when I tried to send it back even tho I asked the waiter dude SO NICELY to tell the kitchen they messed up
Mal: I think we’re gonna have to kill someone???? About it????
This is pretty funny to imagine, and accurate but I wanted to add - I just looked up why blue cheese is fine to eat even though it’s moldy - and it’s because that specific type of mold is made for consumption. So anyway, I can imagine some of the AKs, maybe Ben or someone else, trying to explain to them why this mold is okay but not the other kinds, the kinds they were eating. And I think they would still be so annoyed and/or confused about that.
Cause ‘what do you mean, you people specifically made a type of mold that was safe for eating?’ ‘Rich people 🙄’ lol
On the isle, if someone openly wear clothes from a kingdom that is not viewed favorably there (ex; Auradon city, Auroria, Cinderellasburg) then at best they'll be teased & mocked relentlessly for - a while - depending on how they act about it. At worst- stabbed or punched for it. This is if the name of the kingdom or something else that clearly indicates its from there is visible. So, if you sew a different material overtop the words, or remove them and put other fabric in its place, or wear something else overtop - that's fine even if it's pretty clear what you did.
On the other hand, openly wearing clothing from a kingdom that is looked upon somewhat favorably (Ex; China, Agrabah, Corona) then they might get some side-eyes if they are not from that kingdom, but otherwise they'll be left alone.
My list of Descendants vk oc's and the ages they'll be at the start of my descendants rewrite (if I ever get around to writing it) and their other parent if I have an idea of who it is. I'm headcanoning that D1 starts in early September 2014 & the country of Auradon is in a very tropical zone - which is why it seems like it's always summer or spring there. Also, the country is called the United Kingdoms of Auradon, because it makes more sense to me. & was formed June-August 1994. August is when they revived & shipped the villains off and when the anniversary of the Isle happens. (nothing's celebrated that day, it's just noted.)
Maleficent Fae: Mal, 15, other parent is Hades.
She's pretty much the same as in the movies. I'll be honest, I don't fully like the idea of Hades being her father, but I also got no other ideas.
Hades: Mal, 15, other parent is Maleficent. Hadie, 9, Persephone.
For Hades, I'm headcanoning that he isn't actually trapped on the isle because the other gods need him running the underworld since they don't want to do it. So, to appease Belle & Adam, they told Hades to go hang out on the isle, and he has a backdoor entrance in the cave to go back to the underworld to run it occasionally. He sees staying on the isle as a sort of vacation. Also, Olympus in my view is only allied with Auradon, not part of it.
Cruella: Carlos DeVil, 14, other parent is Clayton.
I think he maybe doesn't know his other parent for certain, but Cruella always said that it was one of the adult hunters of the isle (Ratcliffe, Gaston, and Clayton) and Ratcliffe's and Gaston's kids all look somewhat like their respective father, and he doesn't look like either, whereas Claytons kids don't look too much like him. Also - everyone on the isle knows Gaston wouldn't let one of his sons be raised by someone else.
Carlos's cousins - Diego, 17. Ivy, 20. Hunter, 19. I've never watched the movie that these three appear in, so I don't know how old they are supposed to be, but I like the idea of them, and I know Diego at least is mentioned in the books. Ivy was snuck onto the isle by her dad when she was about 2 months old.
Evil Queen: Evelina "Evie" Grimhilde, 15.
Like in the movies, her mom put a heavy emphasis on her looking pretty and like a princess. Her father is one of the card soldiers, but a different one than one of the 4 that fathered the Queen of Hearts' kids.
Father of all four is Edgar Balthazar. Anthony's father can't be the Baker because in my headcanon, the oldest isle kids were born 1 year after the barrier was put up.
Their fathers are 1 of 2 of the male colonizers that came over with Ratcliffe. Lady Tremaine counts both her daughters kids together, and has them raised the way she wants.
She accepts the boys, but didn't want them (because she thinks they're harder to control) so she pays more attention to the girls and is (slightly) nicer to them.
Queen of Hearts: Red, Vermillion, and Ruby are 16. Carmine, Cherry, and Amaranth are 15. Burgundy, Fuchsia, and Scarlet are 14. Crimson, Maroon, and Chili pepper are 13.
She decided to name all her kids after different shades of red, and stopped having kids because she ran out of name ideas (also why she named one of her youngest kids chili pepper). Fathers are each a different card soldier.
Madam mim's grandkids: Maeve, Mabel, Millie, Maddy, Maverick, Meredith, Maddox, Minna, and Hans Jr.
Hans Jr's dad is Hans and was raised by him because mim wanted him less than the other boys. Like Lady Tremaine, she much prefers the girls over the boys. The father of the rest is unknown as well as ages, except Maddy & Hans Jr, they're both 16.
Ursula and Facilier never lived together because they both had different business interests.
The kids all know about each other, Uma stayed with Ursula because she had clearly inherited her mother's powers while Freddie & Celia had both clearly inherited their father's, so they were sent to live with him.
John Ratcliffe - Rory, 17. Richard "Rick", 15. Jackson, 13. Jeremiah, 15.
I headcanon that 7 colonizers were sent to the isle with Ratcliffe - 4 men and 3 women. The women's names are Mary, Abigail, and Rebecca. Mary is Rick and Jackson's mom, Abigail is Rory and Jeremiah's.
Will Clayton - Clarence "Clay", 14. Carlos DeVil, 14. Caden, 12. Cadell, 8. Clay, Caden, and Cadell have the same mom.
Gaston Legume- Gaston "Junior" the second & Gaston "Bronze" the third, 18 year old twins. Gil, 15. Isabelle, 14. Azure, 12. Cordelia, 9.
Junior & Third's mom is Laurette, Gil's & Isabelle's mom is Claudette. Azure's mom is Redd the red-headed pirate and Cordelia's mom is Angelica Teach.
Gaston claimed Isabelle, but not his other two because Claudette allowed her daughter to be raised how he wanted - doing all the house chores. She has her mom & aunt's help with these chores though, and Gil does sew & repair clothes for the family - repairing his sister's clothes after she's worn them out is common for him.
Azure & Cordelia both live on the ships with their mom's. Neither of their moms let Gaston take them to raise them how he wanted, so obviously he has decided to disown them. Like I said with Carlos, if they had been boys, he might have fought harder to keep them.
I headcanon that Gaston wouldn't refuse to acknowledge his daughters because he thinks only women can do any of the housework - cleaning, cooking, sewing, etc. So he would acknowledge them so that they could do those things in his house (cabin), tavern, and in Duels without Rules.
Honestly, any daughters of his might be better off not being acknowledged by him - I just personally don't see him doing it.
Yzma: Zevon, 15 & Yzla, 12. Both potion makers.
Mother Gothel: Ginevra "Ginny", 18, Father is John Silver from the Caribbean. Hayley, 10, her father is Hans.
She was mostly raised by him because Gothel decided that an 8 year gap between kids was too soon to be raising another one.
However, she does occasionally go visit Hayley to give her lessons on manipulation.
Hayley is one of the major pranksters/jokesters of the isle. She can get a little mean with pranks, but that's mostly because her father encourages it - she'll chill with them with some time in Auradon.
Hans Westergaard: Hans Elliott Jr, 15. Hayley, 10.
Hans Jr's nickname around the isle is Helliot - a play on his first and middle name - because he looks and acts exactly like his father. He has also been called variations of Hellspawn.
He is one of the few kids that should never get off the isle, and is the only kid to have been banned from both Jafar's junk shop as well as Gaston's Tavern & shop.
(It was because he said that if the villains got out & took over, he was going to take one of their thrones and kill whoever's it was)
He also said something similar to Evie once, which got him banned from a lot more territories and excluded from hanging out with a majority of the isle kids
Jafar: Jay, 15 and Jasmine, 12.
I like to headcanon that Jay is actually Aladdin & Jasmine's kid, and I decided to give him a sister who was stolen at the same time. Their real names are Ali & Esme - ages are the same.
Jasmine goes by Jasi around the Isle because the name Jasmine is too princessy/prissy for her. Jafar and Jay are the only ones who are allowed to call her Jasmine - everyone else gets punished for that.
Jasi does most of the chores at home, but Jafar will occasionally cook when he's not running his shop and Jay, Jade, and occasionally Nasira help with cleaning and other chores sometimes.
This is in part because she tends to get fixated on one area while cleaning and/or zones out so she has to be redirected when that happens. And while she is good at cooking simple meals (because that's the food they have available on the isle), she has low spatial awareness and doesn't really pay attention to what she's doing, so she needs to be watched while she's in there to make sure she doesn't accidentally hurt herself or burn anything not food- she can handle the not burning food part.
I headcanon now that she is mildly-moderately autistic, which is why she does those things above. She is also nonverbal without magic now, because she wasn't able to start talking until she was around 7-8 years old, and by that point, Jafar had told her- and reminded Jay- who their real parents were, so she decided she wasn't going to start talking until after she met them. Jafar at one point asked her about that and she indicated (by pointing to herself & the tv) the reason, then he told her that she could use her magic to talk and it wouldn't count as actually doing it. (I changed my other posts involving her to reflect this.)
She was raised to act and look like Princess Jasmine - less stubborn and opinionated - this didn't work because this is the isle where a ton of the women and girls are loud, strong, and independent and/or in charge in some way. Also - Jay.
She was also named heir of the isle at some point as well. And has gotten many etiquette lessons- except dancing because she was never able to really learn it.
Jay, like in canon, was raised to be a street rat. He is also a good older brother. He's basically his canon self.
Jafar mostly just ignored the two unless he was teaching them something. He never physically abused them, but he did threaten to. They are mostly ignored because he didn't want them, but kept them around once they were there because they were convenient workers for his shop & apartment.
The adults of the isle either know or suspect that Jay & Jasi are not Jafar's. They either don't care or kept thinking that Auradon would search the isle eventually. (They never did or thought about it even) (Auradon only recently found out there were kids on the isle)
Nasira: Jade, 15. Don't know her dad. Gets along well with all the Agrabah kids on the isle. All the Agrabah kids on the isle get along, and they’ll all get along with Jordan and Aziz once they go to Auradon as well.
Captain James Hook: Harriet, 18. Harry, 15. CJ, 13.
Captain Hook is frequently called James Hook by the Vk's because Harriet is also a Captain hook, and they prefer her being a captain.
Their mom is one of the pirates on one of the adult pirate's crews.
Mr. Smee: Samuel "Sammy", 18. Simon "Squeaky", 11. Sergio "Squirmy", 11.
Former astronomer of Agrabah (Adnan): Reza, 14. Another child who is Reza's twin
One of Jafar's soldiers (name I decided is Sahil): Zaryan, 14 (I changed Zaryan's parentage to a different dad & had him live with his mom.)
Jafar picked & trained his allies and soldiers well, which is why only 2 of them are on the isle with him.
Lefou: Louis "Lefou deux", 14. His mom is someone who was hanging out around the tavern one day.
Claude Frollo: Claudine, 16. Her mom is Rebecca, one of the colonizers, who died in childbirth with her.
Claudine snapped one time and killed someone. (It was her father)
Claudine, Isabelle, and Jasi are also best friends close allies.
Also, I'm using @panthera-tigris-venenata's headcanon about how Claude Frollo died in my rewrite.
More kids & parents: Desiree - Shan Yu & Calypso. Jonas - Barbossa. Gonzo - someone from James hook's crew. Bonnie - a random Hun & Calypso. There is also definitely a pirate VK named Peter somewhere.
Reblogging this because I made some headcanon changes since first making it. I added something about Ivy, and changed my headcanon about my oc, Jasmine a little. I think I have also made some other small changes over the year that I don't remember.
(These are the tourney teams I think Auradon prep plays against for playoffs, so ones that’re around the school occasionally)
I headcanon that since most of Auradon prep’s tourney team is royals who won’t be able to keep playing tourney after high school, they get to play against mostly college level teams and a couple high school ones. I wrote down which one for each and canon teams are colored blue.
(These high school teams have proven to be good enough to play against college teams so it’s not completely favoritism or anything.)
Auradon fighting knights- Auradon prep- HS
Sherwood Forest Falcons- Sherwood college- college
Seaside mermen- Seaside prep- HS
Neverland gators- Neverland Academy- HS & College (these kids don’t really grow up since they’re in Neverland, which is why it’s HS & college)
Imperial dragons (canon imperial academy team, but I gave them a name)- Imperial Academy- college
In my descendants au: Jafar being sultan of the isle is official in Auradon. This happened in 1998, around 4 years after the villains were all sent to the isle, shortly before Ben was born. What happened is that Jafar mailed a letter/form to them (through Yen Sid- since it was a couple years before the isle’s mailing system was fully established- who really only did that cause he was certain it would be denied) stating how he was running the isle, and was requesting it to be made official in Auradon. However the form & letter were in Arabic, which neither Beast or Belle could read or write, so they decided to just mail it to Princess Jasmine and Prince Aladdin, figuring that they could read it & then sign it if they decided it was ok.
However, Aladdin and Jasmine weren't told by them, or anyone else, that the two of them didn't know what it said - they figured they had gotten a translator or something to read it for them, or could read it enough to get the general idea. So, they thought the two just sent it to see if they were okay with it or not. With that in mind, they filled out & signed it and mailed it back to Beast, and he put it with the rest of the documents related to the isle.
And it would not be brought up again until sometime around when Ben was about to become king or shortly afterwards.
For some reason, the descendants timeline issue that bothers me the most is what day of the week family day and coronation are on. Because in the video call scene, Fairy godmother says that Family day is Sunday, and Mal says coronation is 'Friday at 10 am' when she's talking to her mom about when they can see each other again - which is fine. However, just before the four of them are about to walk away from the picnic tables after the family day drama, Mal says; 'can't wait 'till tomorrow', implying that coronation is tomorrow. But it can't be tomorrow if family day is Sunday but coronation isn't until Friday, and if coronation was Monday or family day Thursday, then that would've been said instead.
Mal clearly did not lie to her mother or misspeak, cause the 4 villains are all watching the tv at coronation time/day, so they knew when it was. It could have been on some of the posters as well ig. FG also I don't think accidentally said the wrong day because the 4 of them were ready, and there was never a correction scene for that & I can't see her accidentally doing that either.
It also doesn't make sense for Mal to say 'can't wait until tomorrow' if the days stated are right, because why wouldn't she say 'can't wait until Friday', then, or even; 'we're going back to that museum tonight.'
I don't know why this bothers me more than the stuff like how long specifically each movie takes place over, or how long between each movie, or books to movie stuff, but it does lol. I tried looking for a descendants calendar/schedule that I saw in a sidebook and I found it, but that didn't help either because that appeared to have both events on a Friday, with Family day a whole week before, so that didn't help either.
I honestly don’t think Mal’s final plan to steal the wand at the coronation and take it to the isle would’ve worked if they did go through with it, cause there were a ton of heroes (& guards) at the coronation.
They would’ve needed to make it from the middle of the cathedral all the way outside & into the car and then all the way to the barrier without anyone managing to stop them in any way. And that would be pretty unlikely, imo, without a ton of allies with them.
If they had wanted to go through with it, freeing maleficent (like Jane accidentally did) or taking down the barrier right then & there would probably have been the best way to do it. Or return to the museum some night and disable the alarm & forcefield to get it.
What kind of villain time travel ‘f up’ would be funnier.
Protagonist/hero accidentally travels back with them & ruins their plan.
Villain starts to like the hero (in a parental way)
Voting ended onJan 1
Number 2 is; the villain starts to like/care for the hero (in a parental way) by caring for the hero as a father, so doesn’t want to really go through with their ultimate plan, but also does. The plan involves murder of the hero btw.
Does anyone remember that descendants post that was about Audrey immediately saying she was going out with Chad after Ben broke up with her, and someone said (either the person who posted it or someone who reblogged it) that it was probably politically smart that she did that and prevented a scandal or something between their kingdoms. It also had the images from that scene in the original post. I thought i had it in my likes or reblogs, but I can't find it now.
