Here's a big project I've been working on for a few weeks: a phylogenetic tree of everything in Minecraft! It would take ages to explain everything here, so if you want an explaination of any inclusions, exclusions, categorisations or Latin names PLEASE PLEASE PUHLEASE ask me I would love to answer any questions :3
Origin of Life Fungi Animalia Algae Plantae Brown mushroom Boletus edulis Red mushroom Amanita muscaria Crimson fungi Inferna rubedo Warped
Here's the slides I used to make it since i'm aware the text on the image there is pretty much unreadable.
Reblogs appreciated!

Telemetry and Chat reporting
Yāall have probably heard, read, seen the shit regarding Mojang allowing Microsoft to be way too overbearing on the minecraft community with their wild new chat reporting features that can completely ban you from multiplayer alltogether, even from your own private servers, and the fact that Telemetry (aka data tracking) has been sneakily shoved in back in 1.18 despite being against GDPR laws, which was why it was removed in the first place.
So, of course the lovely minecraft modding community saves the day. Hereās some mods that deal with this hell.
No Prying Eyes (Clientside & Serverside) lets you turn off telemetry clientside and chat reporting serverside
Simply No Report (Serverside) only disables chat reporting serverside
AntiMSban lets you connect to any server with the mod, even if youāre banned from multiplayer as a whole (in theory)
Iām sure thereās more stuff that can combat the invasion of privacy and control on the minecraft community, but these are the ones Iām personally using and have had recommended to me. (Aside from the last one, as I donāt have a reason to be banned from there so I canāt test it.)
would be interesting if there were in-depth mechanics around heat, darkness, and different types of blight in minecraft. imagine if being near lava or magma blocks, but not touching them, without wearing anything, would set you on fire anyway. Or being around ice or snow without leather would inflict slowness or like, freezing damage. also warped forests could maybe give you like, nausea or blindness if you stay too long in them. maybe soulsand could poison or wither you if you step on it without boots for too long. and staying in darkness or near sculk for too long without diamond or netherite on could maybe make your character kinda twitchy and more subject to like, momentum, and increase the amount of view distance fog or add in āvoid particlesā, and have you start hallucinating more sounds like cave sounds or whispering or whatever. might not be for everyone but would be neat.
minecraft idioms...... ur putting the minecart before the horse here... pfft its not redstone engineering.... to play nethers advocate.... we'll flint and steel that bridge when we get to it......
Let's get back to the crafting table... Speak of the nether... Diamond for your thoughts... Don't put all your eggs in one chest... Kill two parrots with one cookie... The best thing since bread
almost all of these have a better pronunciation and mouthfeel than the original, particularly "Nethers advocate"
These are just replacing real-world idioms with Minecraft-themed substitutes that only half-translate. Horses don't pull minecarts. The Nether is a place, not a person. It is physically impossible in Minecraft to kill two parrots with the same cookie. If we're going to make Minecraft idioms they should a) be relevant to the Minecraft experience and b) fit within the framework of its rules. It's a solid idea but it requires more imagination to truly work. Instead of "kill two parrots with the same cookie," why not "enchant the crossbow with Piercing?" "Don't put all your eggs in chest" is good, but "don't keep all your diamonds in your inventory" speaks more to the risk entailed, since you're liable to fall in lava and lose them carrying them on your person than if they're safely in a chest. Sliced bread is a once-novel concept that improves a small part of life; why not choose a Minecraft feature with similar significance, like the double chest? Let your creativity run wild! Don't feel bound by the phrasing of the original expression.
