STOP PUTTING YOUR OC UNDER โX READERโ!!!!! I DONT WANT TO READ YOUR STINKY LOVE STORY, *I* WANT TO BE THE LOVE STORY!!!!
Me searching for fanfics after watching a series/film/videogame/reading a book and becoming obsessed with that character:
It's really telling that no one on the yt ass app has talked about how ICE has just been given more power to abuse the latine and immigrant community. I know it's all been "charlie kirk this, charlie kirk that" but that doesn't detract from that fact that on Monday, September 8th the supreme court ruled that ice can detain based solely on having brown skin or "looking latine," speaking Spanish or speaking English with an accent, being present at locations that have migrant workers, or the type of work they have.
When this news broke my dad told me and my siblings, all of us who are US Citizens, born and raised in the US, that we have to carry some form of official documentation on us, especially because we live in a city that has been heavily targeted by the Trump administration for being a sanctuary city. My grandmother was staying with us and even though she is my non-latine grandmother, and she's a US citizen, my dad and aunt made the decision to have my dad drive her back home to New Jersey because she has an accent and her documents are back home.
As someone who is latine and south asian, I need you to know that this will not just affect latine people! My non-latine cousin was pulled over by ice about two weeks ago just for being brown! However this will disproportionately affect latine people. Just today ICE was seen on the street by my home and my work! One of my duties at work is to make sure that ICE does not come into our elementary school because we're a predominantly latine school. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE ICE DOES NOT KIDNAP 5 YEAR OLDS. That is the reality of the situation.
I want it to be known that I have been scared before because I'm living as a person of color in the United States. I have been scared before because of being a south asian born post 9/11. I have been scared before being a latina growing up during the Dreamer movement, despite being a citizen. However, before this week I have never been scared enough to feel the need to carry documentation proving I am a citizen of the damn country I was born in! Now I feel that scared though. Especially because a few months ago, for the first time in my life, someone assumed I didn't speak English. Another person of color assumed I didn't speak English and shit talked me in the CVS aisle because they assumed I didn't speak English. And then a week ago I also got mistaken for not speaking English when I went to the doctor's office and chatted with the receptionist in Spanish and then was handed Spanish paperwork to fill out.
Anyways, the point is the fact that I have seen maybe two? three? posts about this on here is upsetting and immensely telling. Speak up. Talk about the fact that this is happening because it will not stop with targeting latines. It will become worse. It already is because the government is going to punish immigrants for "making light of" charlie kirk's death. Not for celebrating, or joking, for making light of.
This silence is astounding. It's not surprising, but it is just astounding to see how little y'all truly care about brown people and immigrants.
as a black girl i am SO tired of those black insert fanfics thatโs only composed of stereotypes from BOTH sides
no the aot men, those bland white men, would NEVER call you โmamasโ or โmaโ or talk to you like they grew up in the fucking ghetto, jesus christ
reader doesnโt always have to be from the โhoodโ neither like why we fighting Mikasa over Eren and are โusedโ to it bc we from the ghetto ๐ญ
andddddd why the reader always get wigs, nails or lashes appointment
donโt get le started on connie or eren wearing a durag or always smoking a blunt, armin would NOT touch that shit
can we stop the damn stereotypes my god I donโt think Iโve ever came across a good blk reader x character without one of those in it
I thought I was the only one who thought that. Like where's the slow burns? Where's the cheesy romance? Where's the character's development? Heck gimme Hallmark if that's all it's gonna take....
...okay maybe not Hallmark but you get what I mean.
it was inevitable as the tides, but it has come to my attention now that if i talk about how sexy Thrax was without specifying "thrax from cinematic masterpiece Osmosis Jones released in 2001" a lot of people get really confused bc they don't know who that is bc they're officially a generation removed from me at this point
rather than go "ugh kids these days" (like cmon don't be That Guy) or "ugh no i feel old" (I don't! guess I'm built different) i will ever so happily inform so a whole new batch of people can enjoy a something very unique and special to my heart that kicks fucking ass and hope they enjoy it too
and that a something is Osmosis Jones. especially the villain of Osmosis Jones. his name his Thrax. he is an lethal virus that is never fully identified (it's implied he is the Red Death, from the Edgar Allen Poe story, but real); other viruses don't recognize him, and he's so reliably stealthy and lethal he possibly hasn't even been properly discovered by science yet. he also only gets more lethal and dangerous as he infects new people, treating how fast he can kill his current host with fever as a PR he has to beat every time until he can cook your brain to death SO quickly after infection that he will go down in history as the single most dangerous illness known to humans.
so yeah take a look and appreciate what set the bar for my villainfucker sleeper code. they don't make em quite like this anymore. content warning for bright orange body horror. legit plays out like a scene in a horror movie.
stupid sexy virus

Begging people to stop reblogging this AI trash from โThe Phantom Painterโ on Instagram (instagram.com/phantom.painting). Iโve been seeing it on my dash more and more often from people who are otherwise anti-AI and either canโt tell itโs AI or donโt care because it looks cool.
This is the kind of shit that is VERY CLEARLY trained on the works of existing talented artistsโ with distinct styles and this asshole is selling prints and making a profit off of stealing other peopleโs hard work.
Donโt give people like this money or attention and they will go away.
Please, if youโre going to buy art prints, buy them from an actual artist.
@thegnat Thatโs the problem, itโs getting really hard to tell whatโs AI and what isnโt. This phantom painter person at least says on each post on Instagram that it was created with AI, but when people re-post it on tumblr, it isnโt specified, and people end up reblogging it.
Itโs not reasonable to think everyone should be vetting every single art they reblog to make sure it isnโt AI, which is why I made this post to let people know this artist specifically is AI, and I see it reblogged a ton.
While weโre at it
and so is everything by that person, xis.lanyx on Instagram. They also sell prints of their โoriginal imagesโ
That last one is for the people saying โyou can always tell by the hands.โ You cannot. The whole point is that itโs getting better and better at it. Thatโs what it does.
As an art curator on tumblr I now have to spend a considerable amount of time trying to decipher whether or not the art I want to share is AI or not and I still sometimes get it wrong.
To actually answer the question of how one can determine something is AI, particularly as it grows more sophisticated with anatomy: you have to train yourself to recognize artifacts.
There is no one single unifying giveaway beyond a strange sense of uncanny that you will eventually begin to recognize the better you attune yourself, and certain models have their own unique โstylesโ you can begin to recognize (midjourney and stablediffusion produce very different looks, for example). There are however a few things on which one can tend to focus.
Edges: AI, as of this post, still struggles with distinct edges of objects and figures and has a tendency to blend details together. Look for hair, ribbons, and other flowy details if present. Do they fade into other details? Look at how the hair fuses with the smoke:
Edges 2: Sometimes they will also have the edges completely avoid each other, with a foreground figure slightly warping along the edges in a way that matches the background edges, like repelling magnets:
Patterns: AI, as of this post, still struggles with patterns. Filigrees, mandalas, brickwork, scales, anything that involves a high level of intricate detail tends to get blurred together. This can be a tricky one, because a lot of artists will also fudge pattern details in looser renders, but usually in a way that makes sense as an impression and notโฆ. this:
Architecture: Are there buildings present in the image? AI has a tendency to make Escher-esque nonsense structures, with pillars in places they donโt belong, arches that go nowhere, bricks that donโt align, and support beams that start on one plane and connect to another. It also struggles with perspective, but, so do many humans so I would not consider it evidence alone. Check out the placement of this pillar, and also the detail on theโฆ window? Candle cage?? Thing?
Resolution and quality: AI cannot make high-resolution images. It just cannot. While most artists arenโt posting their full resolutions, generative images canโt be enhanced, and the โartistโ will not be able to provide proof of work. You should be able to zoom into work by an artist and admire their strokes, relate to their errors, and appreciate their process at every skill levelโ zooming into generative images somehow makes them even less clear, a mess of pixels that are somehow both blurry and also look like they have been run through a sharpen filter:
Text and signatures: AI struggles with legible characters in any language, and the result is a simlish-looking approximation of characters at worst, and hilariously misspelled words at best. Since these models are trained off real artists, they will also often have artifacts of a signature that oopsed its way into the image. These signatures are always illegible or, if โlegibleโ, are not actually the names of real accounts.
Things like this can be tough to spot at a glance if youโre not actively keyed into looking for them, but theyโre the type of uncanny stuff that once you see it will start gnawing at the back of your mind. Youโll be scrolling your feed and suddenly take -1 psychic damage and you have to scroll back up to see why. Stuff that goes beyond inconsistent lightsources and bad anatomy.
fit goes hard
this is from the Palestinian Obi and Dress Exhibition run by Maki Yamamoto, who runs the Palestinian Embroidery Obi Project (link is to an article about it). she works with women in the West Bank and Gaza as well as Japanese artisans to produce and sell embroidered obi (kimono sashes) to high-end Japanese markets, ensuring that the Palestinian women get paid fairly for their work. she's been to the West Bank numerous times, including many trips to high-tension areas like Al-Khalil and Bil'in. this photo, where the model is wearing a Hirbawi kufiya and a mother of pearl carving from Bethlehem in addition to the kimono, is sourced from Yamamoto's Twitter. by the way, mother of pearl carving is a longstanding handicraft tradition in Bethlehem that seems like it's less known compared to things like tatreez and olive wood carving. there are some really beautiful Palestinian mother of pearl pieces out there.
