And again Krillin the MVP saving everyone's asses by pointing out "hey there's almost certainly another Cell in this timeline growing in a vat in Gero's lab currently so assuming we survive this crisis, unless we want the nightmare to start all over again in a few years we should probably go nip that in the bud." And in the process they discover the blueprints for the Androids. Seriously Krillin is the most reliable person on this team.

Krillin HAS to be the reliable one since he's the only one approaching the situation with a realistic view on what's going on. He's just a human. One of the strongest humans on the planet, but just a human all the same.

Compared to beings like Cell and the Androids, he's far outclassed and he knows this. The man has to be SMART in the way he makes his approach. More often than not for him this means an alternate approach to brute forcing them to submission.

Krill-dog is a huge asset to a team full of muscle-headed, punch first, ask questions later type dudes. Some view his apprehension to combat in later parts of the story as cowardice or weakness where as I would say he's just using his knowledge, training and patience, for survivability.
