Welcome back!
[thank you mysterious anon! It’s exciting to be back :D]
[ so I’m sure many people I used to RP with are gone now, I’ve not been on Kaidan properly forever and I super miss him so I guess I’m bringing him back for a little while.]
[ ooc: is anyone still around?? ]

"How does it feel to use biotics?" Okay, maybe a strange conversation starter, she knew, but she was curious. Quarians didn’t have biotics; not because they couldn’t, but because it took resources that they couldn’t afford to spare - and any accidents would kill any other potential. So to see them… It was strange. The Geth couldn’t have biotics, and the Quarians didn’t, and before her pilgrimage that was all she knew.
"I mean… If you’re willing to tell." Yeah, that would cover it. She mentally rolled her eyes at herself; she really needed to learn more about this ‘socially appropriate’ business. Humans were so touchy sometimes, and she didn’t want to upset them, she was just so curious. But then, sometimes they could be so blunt, and she wondered if some of the things they said and questions they asked were appropriate to them. It was an amazing cultural difference, and it left her feeling so… Distant sometimes. Distant, and more than a little homesick.
He's not spent that much time with the Quarian since she arrived aboard, the few conversations they have had have been good. She's sweet, friendly if not a little odd but he's simply put that down to a difference in cultures, it's something he can adjust to over time. Her question however, when she sits beside him at breakfast comes out of the blue and he's blinking at her over his cup of coffee (his first cup of coffee) and it's taking him a moment to realise what she was exactly asking. "Uh." It's not an unusual question to be asked for a biotic, his own parents both asking him once upon a time. Still, he's 2 sips into his beverage and he's barely coherent. Taking another sip, he's placing his cup on the table and rubbing a hand over his eyes. "Morning Tali. Uh, I guess... I guess it's like-- you ever been electrocuted? Not badly, just that little jolt that sends tingles along your skin? It's sort of like that but all over and the feeling comes from the inside. It's like-- It's like-- It's hard to explain, I guess but that's the closest comparison I could give you. I forget not everyone has them sometimes."
❝Run wild and free, huh? Sounds like you’re talking about a horse and not me,❞ she chuckles. Ella’s glad they can laugh and hopefully leave the Cerberus topic buried — at least for the moment.
She’s still smiling, can keep it up, even when her voice probably gives away that she’s a bit nervous about this. As much as she loves the idea of Kaidan’s mother bugging him about them, as much she has no idea how to handle it herself. ❝Oh,❞ that’s all she saying for a moment. ❝So, uh what did she say?❞ And then something else crosses her mind. ❝Would you like telling her more? About this, us?❞
"I'd say you were similar to a horse if it didn't sound like an insult. They're stubborn as hell too." He's grinning at her, relishing in the fact he's one of few who can still bring a smile to her face despite the ever increasingly shit fest of a situation they're in the middle of. He picks up on the slight hitch, the biotic more than skilled in the art of knowing when Shepard's attempting to pass herself off as cool and collected. In normal circumstances, he'd be worried but this, this is good. It's not life or death, it's easy and light and he wants to chuckle at her if it weren't for the risk of getting beaten by her the next time they spar together. "She uh, she said I picked good." Amongst other motherly things like 'of course she loves you, who wouldn't' and he's resolutely not sharing those with her. "I don't know, maybe. Maybe not, she's-- Dad, you know? I don't want to make her hurt because-- I mean, I'd love to and I know she'd be happy for me. For us. But--it'd bring up memories for her."
[msg; Kaidan] let's talk about this when you're here. It's too important for messages [msg; Kaidan] If you say so. Makes me wonder what 'requests' you have in mind.
Waiting has never been one of her strong talents. So it doesn’t take her long to start getting nervous and fumbling around on several places in the cabin. Checking if the fish have enough food, checking the hamster, checking herself in the mirror. And that last thing makes her laugh at herself. What the hell is she doing here? Ella can’t put her finger on the reason why she’s so nervous. Maybe it’s the topic they have scratched in their messages. But yes it is important and she wants to talk about it - but nevertheless it’s not easy for her. She relieved when he’s arrived and opens the door with her omnitool quickly, walking out of the bathroom she smiles when she approaches him. ❝That was much quicker than a few hours.❞ Stepping on her toes when she’s close enough she leans up to steal a kiss from him, before they eat. ❝I’m glad you’re back.❞
The uneasiness that had settled in his stomach after their previous conversation settles into something warm, like the first few moments after drinking a good liquor. She only fuels it further by kissing him, the urge to pull her close and linger on that moment nearly overwhelms him until his stomach let's out a quiet rumble and he's rolling his eyes at the poor timing. "I lied." He's smirking slightly, one shoulder lifting in a shrug. "Thought I'd surprise you but uh, not sure I did a good job of that to be honest. I remembered that Edi would no doubt announce my presence back aboard as soon as I stepped through the doors." He's kissing her once more before moving around to her living area, placing the food on the table and stretching the kinks out of his back from where the armour has dug in and generally made him ache. He hopes it's just after effects of Dr. Eva's beating and absolutely not old age, even though the slight greying around his temples bursts his little delusion. "I hope you're hungry, I brought far too much food for two."
Sorry— sorry. No need. Can buy clothes, mods, amours, guns, fish. Nothing of use. To me, that is. You might find something you like. [ he shrugs again, turning around to view the area. he had attributed it to memory by now. ] Alliance soldier, some place quiet may be the commons. They have a nice cafe. Apollo’s cafe. I hear it’s nice. You can ask me anything, I suppose.
No, I'm not really in a shopping mood. And in any case, I have everything I need right now. Also, it's Kaidan. Alliance Soldier is a bit of a mouthful. [ he's rubbing the back of his neck, glancing out at the large expanse beyond them. Even after all this time he's mesmerized by the Citadel ] Yeah, I've heard of it. It's a nice place, no loud music and people tend to keep the conversation quiet. They also do damn good steak sandwiches. [ He's raising a brow at the other mans easy acceptance of Kaidan's curiosity, he's unwilling to put the man through the clear distress he was in earlier just to sate it ] Maybe it'd be easier if you just told me what you wanted to tell me, you can avoid the bad parts that way.
“Good… now where do we go from here?” It’s a strange question, and it doesn’t really sound natural, but it was entirely legitimate. Where do they go from here? Could their relationship ever go back to the way it was? They trusted each other, yes, but part of her was still… Bitter. How do you even continue after a conversation like that? Do they talk about feelings? Or does the conversation continue onto something completely unrelated? God, this is too much for a simple soldier. ”…S-So, did you, uh, see the new Blasto movie?”
It's not a question he knows the answer to, he'd ever thought she'd be interested in regaining their friendship back. Let alone that they'd ever be a part of the same team again, he believed she was dead for so long and then his anger overrode any possibility of considering this. He trusts her, he knows he was in the wrong when he lashed out on Horizon, he was hurting in his defense but he also knows deep down, there's some lingering bad feelings on both their behalves. Ignoring them would only make them fester, it'd be bad for them and bad for the team. Yet, when she asks her second question, he's emitting an undignified snort, surprised at the sudden change of topic but welcoming it all the same. "What?" He's outright chuckling now, brows drawing together in confusion. "I uh-- No, I've not. I didn't have anyone to go with... You-- I mean, we could see it if--if you like?"

"I didn't really think on why they picked me to be the second human spectre more on what it meant if I said yes." There's a sigh and he's resting his back against the glass, arms folded across his chest. "I don't think that's anything to do with you and more so their inability to listen to anyone other than themselves."
The silence stretching out makes Kaidan stand up straight, head tilted to the side as he eyes her. It's obvious his own doubts about his abilities mirror Shepard's own, however on a much smaller scale. "If anyone can do this, it's you. It's why Anderson and Hackett, the entire council are leaving you in charge of this. Not because of your previous experience with the Reapers - though it helps, I'm sure - but because you're the perfect match for this. No one else could do as well as you've done so far." He's stepping towards her, hand resting on her shoulder in some hope it offers a little comfort. "And if you ever need to talk, I'm here. We all are."
I'm gonna get my drafts done and then if anyone wants anything from me, just let me know and I'll write it up~
Why yes, I am in a Kaidan mood
I always wondered what the undersuits looked like without the armour on top and then Kaidan’s arse happened and I could do nothing this is entirely my fault I need help I just can’t stop STARING.
Also hi! Long time no Kaidan.
[msg; Major] I'm just not sure how I feel about eating something that could very well be a pet. [msg; Major] ...guess I should've thought of that when I fell in love with bacon, huh? [msg; Major] What the hell, right? You cooking? Am I coming over to witness a disaster?
[MSG; Vega] In my defence, I thought it was steak when I bought it from an ex-marine friend of mine then I read the packet... [MSG; Vega] Don't tell Jack. I think she hates me as it is. Or anyone for that matter. [MSG; Vega] I'd give anything for bacon right now, it's hard to come by. But yeah, sure, come over. I'm cooking... something with it. It'll be spicey to hide the taste.
[MSG; Vega] You're a man of the universe so I'll ask you this: have you tried Varren before?
[msg; Major] ...[msg; Major] No. [msg; Major] Dare I ask why you might need to know?
[MSG; Vega] Absolutely not. I was hoping you'd tell me it tasted like 'normal' meat. [MSG; Vega] I doubt you could taste it with sauce on top, right? [MSG; Vega] Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

With a slight laugh, he's dragging his gaze back to the view screen. "I've never really been the sort to delve into politics, I know where my strengths and weaknesses lie. I'm a soldier, Shep. And right now, the war needs people like you who can be both good at fighting with guns and their words." He's flashing her a self-deprecating smile. "I'm complaining about such a trivial thing, I know. There's people out there who can't do anything. I can but still, I wish I was on familiar ground, is all." There's a pause and then he's speaking again. "What about you? How are you holding up?"
