Also, please do not listen to how people talk about cover letters on this site. Cover letters are important, and in many industries you can be damn sure they'll be read. And no, they're not 'fanfic about working in your office', or just re-stating the resume contents in a fancier guise. If you treat them like that, then of course they're not doing much for you. That makes you sound like a syncophantic windbag, and it's not doing anything else to help.
I was trained in the dark arts of the cover letter by my mother, who is a hiring manager. And her training has paid off: I've been consistently told my cover letters are excellent. Let me pass on the wisdom.
The job of a cover letter is to give a prospective employer strictly more information than is on the resume. This is where you take the resume contents and put them into context. You look at the job requirements (you are looking at the job requirements before applying, right?) and look at your resume and ask the question (in your head) "why would a person think this candidate would be good for this job?" and your cover letter is the answer to that question. If you don't answer that question, the hiring manager is going to have to do it themselves, and you have way more information to work with than they do.
This is especially important if you're moving from one industry to another, because then the relevant connections aren't obvious. It's also very important if you're overqualified, because then you can use the letter to say "I know it looks like this job would be too entry-level for me, but I'm interested to pursue it for reasons x, y, and z". You can also use this space to explain away something that might otherwise be disqualifying, like job-hopping or a long break in employment. The tone to strike here is always matter-of-fact and constrained to topic - don't go into detail about health stuff or personal tragedy, just tell them what they need to hear: that this period of your resume was affected by [bad thing] but that it's now in the past and you're looking forward to the next chapter. Remember, one of the things they're trying to learn is whether you'd be content in this role, or whether you'd be miserable and leave after 2 months, which would force them to do all the work of hiring again. You're trying to establish that you will fit right in and not cause problems. Knowing what drew you to this job in particular (and don't just say 'money', that's true for everyone) helps with that.
And the other mistake? Everyone writes cover letters that are too long. One page is fine. Two is the absolute maximum, and that's if you have a lot of specific things to say. It's a waste of your time and theirs to pad it out with fluff. Of my two most recent successful cover letters (i.e. jobs for which I was interviewed) one was 390 words and the other was 550. That's the length of this post. How long did it take me to write this post? About 15 minutes to write, 5 to proof and edit. That's how long you should be spending on a cover letter, maximum.

As a reminder, he's suing Caroline Wallner, one of his accusers, for breaking her NDA. Not for libel. He's saying she shouldn't have told anyone about it, not that she lied.
The author says Wallner broke her NDA by sharing her story with the media, including with New York Magazine.
He doesn't need the money. He's risking the Streisand effect. He is punishing Caroline, he's trying to intimidate other victims who have signed NDAs to scare them into continued silence.
He is no friend to women, to the LGBTQIA+ community, to anyone quite frankly unless he thinks they are of value to him.
Share the story. Put it on Facebook and bluesky and whatever else you're on. Make it clear what a horrifying person he is. Tell your friends. He's paying Edendale a fortune to try and cover this up. Make this hard for him. Make it cost him money.

DISCLAIMER. Please keep in mind that this is an introductory overview for drawing some burn scars and has a lot of generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. I'm calling this introductory because I hope to get people to actually do their own research before drawing disabled & visibly different characters, rather than just making stuff up. Think of it as a starting point and take it with a grain of salt (especially if you have a very different art style from mine).
Talking about research and learning... don't make your burn survivor characters evil. Burn survivors are normal people and don't deserve to be constantly portrayed in such a way.

State Disability Life Hack
If you or your loved ones have ever been on state disability, then you probably know that communicating with them feels like screaming into the void, while banging your head against rock at the same time. I live in California, but I suspect these problems are pretty endemic regardless of which state you live in. The bureaucracy inherent in the system is so thick, that the slightest deviation from the norm in any of your answers to their regular follow up questions, will inevitably result in your payments being indefinitely delayed. This has happened to me twice in 6 months. In trying to resolve this issue, I once spent an entire day trying to call CA's SDI (State Disability Insurance) office. I called thirsty-six (36) times and never even so much as got in the queue to speak to an agent. In the meantime, I haven't been paid in 6 weeks (that's 3 payment cycles), but whatever - it's not like we need this money to live! It's incredibly frustrating that a system that's intended to support people with disability so that they can (ideally) get better and get back to work is designed so poorly that instead it causes disabled folks undue stress and illness complications. Because if you're disabled, chances are you don't have the spoons to go deal with this nonsense in person, or even spend all day trying to get through to a person on the phone.
So, what do you do? You contact your local State Assembly person. They all have a process called filing a legislative request which requires your local disability office to respond to them with an update on your case within a short time. And because they're technically the bosses of your local SDI, it'll move things forward for you. I contacted my State Assemblyman's office twice and each time SDI reached out to me the very next day and paid me right away (always without any explanation about why there was a delay in the first place). In fact, my Assemblyman's website has a special portal to request help resolving issues with the department of unemployment and disability - because this is such a common issue. Most people don't know you can get this kind of help - but now you do! So if you ever need help dealing with your disability/unemployment office, go straight to your Assembly member's website, because your taxes are paying their salaries.
P.S. I also had no idea who my Assembly person was, but I Googled it, like the genius that I am 😂

For those of you who are doing the dance of Prior Authorizations -- in the event that your PA is denied, *CALL THEM* and ask specifically WHAT INFORMATION WAS MISSING to cause the denial. DON'T ask "Why was it denied?", ask, "What information was missing?"
When I called to ask why my doctor's submission was denied, I didn't get a straight answer. I called back and asked, "What information was missing that my doctor should have provided for this to be approved?" The rep looked over the form my doctor had submitted and said, "She said you didn't have a sleep study done, and a sleep study showing an OSA diagnosis and 15+ events is required."
Now I DID in fact have a sleep study done, and I had the CPAP prescription (with that exact diagnosis and info on it) to prove it.
So I asked the rep, "If my doctor resubmits the form and confirms that I DID have said study done and DID have said diagnosis and so on, would that get my PA approved?"
"Yep!"
I IMMEDIATELY called my doctor's office to tell her, and sent her the PDF of my CPAP prescription with additional deets. She in turn immediately resubmitted the corrected form, and a couple hours later, VOILA, PA approved.
So be sure to phrase your question CORRECTLY, because IF THEY TELL YOU WHAT YOUR DOCTOR NEEDS TO SAY, THEY'LL ALMOST CERTAINLY APPROVE IT.

i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
