Uhhhhhh... I have about 100, across multiple fandoms, but since you said "like Penny," I'm gonna focus on TVD Ocs with Mikaelson poly soulmate relationships. (I'll put my other TVD OCs with undecided & different pairings underneath the first list.)

Age at the start of the story : 25

Story Title : I Will Follow You Into The Dark

Summary : "Not everything that feels familiar is meant to recognize you back." On her twenty-fifth birthday, Penelope’s perfectly normal life spirals into a nightmare. After a strange near-accident in the Everglades, she finds her house gone, her phone dead, and herself utterly lost. The only help comes from a tv character look-alike, with a corresponding name, Mason Lockwood. Reality begins to fracture from there.

Summary : A 34-year-old Texas EMT wakes up as Elena Gilbert. Instead of running for the hills, she posts a Craigslist ad and summons Elijah herself. The Originals weren't prepared for a doppelganger who bites back.

- Leon Salvatore

Summary : Damon and Stefan's brother Leon had been trapped under that damn church for over a century, and those clowns he called "brothers" never came back for him. Damon eventually had the audacity to open the crypt for goddamn Katherine, the woman responsible for the whole mess, and still didn't care to look for his brother. Now Leon's out, he's pissed, and he wants nothing to do with either of them.

- Marisol Rodrigues

what you said about the Mystic Falls gang sounds really interesting! esp, the mystery surrounding Jeremy, Damon. (and, of course, what happened with Elijah + Mystic Falls Gang sounds especially juicy)

here's another question: were Elena & Bonnie any less reckless with themselves in your soulmate au? logically, it seems the answer should be yes, but they're very big on martyrdom (stefan shares that in common ofc)

Oh, I love this question! You've hit on the core tension of their dynamic in this AU. 😭

Logically, the soulmate bond actually adds to the pressure, rather than taking it away, because of the consequences of losing a soulmate.

In my AU, Bonnie and Elena already have a huge history of putting themselves in the line of fire for the people they love. When you add a soulmate bond on top of that, it doesn't make them less reckless - it just gives them a much more intense, personal 'why.'

They're martyrs in this, because they view their soulmate bond as an absolute, non-negotiable obligation to protect the other at any cost. It's not about logic or staying safe.

It's about that desperate, fated feeling that if one of them falls, the other isn't just losing a friend, they're losing a piece of their own destiny. If anything, the bond just makes the stakes feel that much higher. 💖

I just read the most stunningly poor take about Klaus ever 💀

Something about how "he cared more about his hybrids than his siblings (specifically Finn & Kol)" & I feel like, either that person has never watched TO or they just have 0 media literacy.

Like, honestly, that take completely misses the entire point of the character!

Klaus is deeply traumatized and absolutely terrified of being abandoned by everyone he loves.

Daggering his siblings is obviously incredibly abusive and completely messed up. But he doesn't put them in boxes to hurt them, he puts them there specifically to guarantee they stay with him forever.

His actions are driven by a desperate need for control and intense paranoia about being left alone!

The obsession with the hybrid army comes from exactly the same deep insecurity.

He spent centuries running from Mikael feeling completely isolated from the world. And being the odd-one-out among his siblings, due to not being Mikael's kid! (And Mikael had already made him feel like he was a blight, before his paternity ever even came to light & reinforced his "outsider" feeling.)

Making those hybrids gave him a makeshift "family," that bound by sire-bond enforced loyalty. He desperately craved the absolute safety that the sire bond provided.

Plus that person completely rewrote the canon regarding Kol and Finn!

When Kol actually died in TVD, Klaus reacted with absolute devastation and murderous rage. He literally cried before hunting down Elena and Jeremy for brutal rrevenge. After that he got locked inside a room multiple days and then Jeremy died & I guess he considered that "an eye for an eye" or something.

His colder reaction to Finn dying makes complete logical sense within the plot. Finn, who had already been "gone" (by no fault of his own) for 900 years, actively collaborated with Esther to orchestrate the annihilation of their entire bloodline (and species)! Obviously he expresses less immediate grief for someone actively plotting his assassination, wouldn't you?

(Keep in mind, when his brothers died in TO he was incredibly upset.)

We can absolutely acknowledge that Klaus inflicts terrible pain on his own family and the people around him. But he loves them with all of his heart. He is an abuser. He continues Mikael's cycle of abuse because of his trauma. That is the point!

Erasing his desperate love for his family simply turns a wonderfully tragic protagonist into a boring cartoon villain.

But that's just my opinion. What do I know💀

I’d love to break down some the kink/love language combo for the Mikaelsons. I’ll keep this spoiler-free for the story, just character-based analysis from the "Bible."

Klaus

Love language: Words of affirmation - he desperately needs to hear he's wanted, good, enough. Gift-giving is a close second (he’s incredibly specific and remembers tiny details). Acts of service show up in his protective positioning between his partner and danger.

Kinks(some. at the beginning): Praise kink, dominance, and possessive marking. He wants to claim and worship simultaneously. Semi-public exhibitionism (he likes being seen with her) and a deep emotional intensity where I think sex is rarely casual for him.

Elijah

Love language: Acts of service - he caretakes, plans, opens doors, and defers to his partner's choices. He also values quality time through intellectual engagement and attentiveness.

Kinks(some. at the beginning): Established service top (deeply repressed), loves getting praised, oral fixation, ... other fixations. Elijah wants a strong partner, someone who pushes him, he likes to watch others take their pleasure. He gets off on his partner getting off, because that means he did well. He'll evolve during the story... spoiler alert! 🫡

Rebekah

Love language: Physical touch - she's constantly reaching out, fussing over her partner, leaning into space. Words of affirmation are essential; she needs to be told she's pretty, perfect, chosen. She also shows love by wanting to be seen together.

Kinks(some. at the beginning): Pillow princess energy. She loves receiving, is demanding and bratty, and adores being praised while being touched gently. She's possessive and the intimate act with her is loud, sensual, and greedy.

Kol

Love language: Quality time - full of making everything a fun or a challenge, spontaneous adventures, intellectual sparring. Physical touch is relentless (he’s grabby, plays with hair, can't keep his hands to himself). Kol enjoys teasing his partner, and he's also the best hype man you can imagine.

Kink: The switchiest switch to ever switch, weirdly into exhibitionism - he likes showing off, he laughs during sex and keeps it the most playful. He's really verbally unrestrained (into dirty talk). And so adventurous, that he's willing to try almost anything at least once.

Freya

Love language: Acts of service - She shows love by "doing." Solving problems, offering help before being asked, positioning herself as indispensable. She also values words of affirmation, direct communication, and respects boundaries.

Kinks(some. at the beginning): Dominance and control. She likes taking the lead, being on top, teasing her partner into submission. She also has a praise kink, and enjoys being needed and desired, so she does like trying her partner up or being on top of them. Freya also enjoys watching her partners receive pleasure or direct others on how to best pleasure them.

Finn

Love language: Physical touch - gentle, lingering, always asks permission first. Enjoys spending quiet quality time in nature. He's a careful listener, remembers tiny details, and offers protection silently.

Kinks(some. at the beginning): Finn is a patient service top who craves full-body contact and emotional connection. He counts everything, is really into sensory play, orgasm control and CONSENT(!!!). He needs reassurance and sweetness and he NEEDS to be on top - Finn rarely bottoms, if at all.

Penelope

Love language: Acts of service and words of affirmation - she shows love by cooking, doing, solving problems before they're problems. She needs to hear she's wanted, but she's not great at asking for it. Physical touch only comes online when she's really in deep with someone. Girl gets needy 😭

Kinks(some. at the beginning): The laziest switch you've ever met. She defaults to bottom/sub not because she's naturally submissive, but because she enjoys a dominant partner and frankly doesn't want to do all the work 😭 She's probably brat-adjacent. She pushes back, talks shit, makes you earn it. Beyond that, she genuinely doesn't know most of her own kinks yet. Her first time was at 21 after a staff Christmas party, with the IT guy from the eco lodge, who was a full head shorter than her (reminder - she's 5'1" 💀) (Note : no shade to any "short kings" reading) and lasted approximately three strokes after taking her virginity. After that she didn't explore much, cause "What the fuck? I don't know what all the hype is about..." She discovers most of her likes and dislikes with the cluster. (She might be Demi-Sexual, now that I think about it...) Pray for her. 🙏

The full explicit Bible has a lot more detail, but those are the core love languages and start-kinks for each cluster member without spoiling future plot development 💕

idk if you answered this question already, but i was curious on the stefan/klaus/rebekah dynamic. if stefan and rebekah still got together, how much had changed between klaus and stefan?

So in my AU, what happened in Chicago didn't fundamentally change.

Stefan still gave Klaus and Rebekah something they were missing - something their cluster and each other weren't providing at that point. And they both ended up sleeping with him.

The difference is just the context around it.

By the point they met Stefan, Klaus and Rebekah (the Originals in general) had already spent centuries without Finn who was daggered (daggering, btw, registers to the bond the same way abuse does - it raises cortisol levels, it causes pain, dizziness, sickness, hallucinations, it raises the natural heart rate and can lead to heart attacks, strokes, suicidality and death), with Kol who was also daggered, and with Elijah far away.

The bond was already punishing them for those things constantly.

Not only are they Original vampires & already far less vulnerable to bond punishments - after 800 years of persistent pain, they were/are almost desensitized to bond pain in general. which is why Klaus almost choked Penelope to death in the gym.

Imagine it like Sherpa communities in Nepal or Tibet - People who live at high altitude their whole life are less susceptible to altitude sickness in the Himalayas, than someone who just flew in from sea level. (Doesn't mean they're immune, but they can withstand worse for longer.)

So when the bond punished the infidelity, it didn't stop them. They'd been breathing thin air for centuries. The pain barely registers anymore.

How do you imagine kol and freya's first meeting went. Does he know she is his sister? Did he bring her to the party to introduce her to the others, then got daggered? Oh, I lowkey hope we get a one-shot of their meeting.

In the meantime, here's how it went in my head:

They met in 1912. And they both got sweped up in the endorphin high that comes from a new bond (you know, when your body is acclimatised to soulmate world and you're not actively fighting and denying the effects).

Kol just saw a beautiful witch who actually shared his love of magic and didn't treat him like a problem or a ticking time bomb, and Freya let herself get caught up in that.

They marked, and he dove in headfirst. He was gone for her pretty much immediately, she was a bit more apprehensive, but Kol has never met a challenge he didn't wanna overcome. 🚩

After about a week of spending time together, he invited her to the Christmas party, and he was going to introduce her to the family privately afterward. 🍆

Then Klaus daggered him. 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

And Freya was human, so the bond-backlash from the daggering hit her harder than it hit the immortal vampires in the family. She collapsed from the 'abuse-punishment-pain' of the marks (which are a biological mechanism to prevent abuse/harm between soulmates - something we seen on the Lockwood balcony, when Penelope's marks heated up to the point of pain, when she was arguing with Klaus and Rebekah).

Anyway, security that night ended up removing Freya from the party before she was noticed or ever got the chance to meet anyone else.

And Kol never knew she was his sister. He went into that coffin still thinking he'd found a 'normal' soulmate that wasn't related to them.

And he didn't find out the truth for almost a century, until Penelope and Klaus made the dumb plan to put him in another person's body. He's quite bitter about that...

I feel like one of the reasons he's unwilling to cooperate - among all the others and the most obvious (that he's terrified of Silas) - is probably that part of him wants to punish Freya for being "deceitful" - but that might be a massive spoiler...

Oh, the line in tvd where qetsiyah says, "Silas was my true love, I never said that I was his" is gonna mean so much more and hit so much harder in your fic. My theory is that quetsiyah was soulmate with Silas, but it was a one-sided bond, while Silas and amara had a soulmate bond that was reciprocal. I can't wait for chapter 7, thank you so much for your work💖.

The idea of onesided vs. reciprocal soulmate bonds is such a heavy, beautiful concept to play with! I love it so much! 😭😭😭

Yes! Okay, so.

Damon used to have a soulmate. His humanity was actually on for some time between the Katherine disaster and meeting Elena. But he was doubly horrible when he arrived. (We'll get more of that a little later in the story, so I don't wanna spoil too much^^)

Elena and Bonnie, as well as Caroline and Matt, have been in relationships for a while. Elena and Matt were still dating, but when both of them got their marks, they ended up splitting up. Caroline and Bonnie are younger, so they got their marks a little later, but by then they were already being pursued by Matt and Bonnie.

S1 Care still had kind of an "Elena complex" because of the Matt thing.

And Bonnie's grandmother adored the pairing between the girls (and unbeknownst to Bonnie, that actually validated Abby giving up her powers to lock up Mikael, because she saved the life of her daughter's soulmate).

Grayson Gilbert was not a fan of the Bonnie/Elena pairing—in my mind, he disliked witches just like he disliked vampires.

Miranda loved it, because she was friends with Abby before she left.

In season 1, Bonnie and Elena both became involved with Stefan, because they're both his soulmate.

Did the siblings not care what finn was doing because they weren't close with him or because they were like, "Heh, he can do whatever he wants." But I imagined they would be annoyed getting the effects through the bond, but they are all so repressed they would never talk about it.

The short answer is that "not caring," is the wrong way to look at it. It was more of a case of staggered timing, social scrutiny and total emotional distance.

The timing was a factor, because the bond doesn't kick in until you're about sixteen, meaning Finn was trapped in that biological circuit entirely by himself for the first three years while his younger siblings were still just kids.

In my story, Finn is/was 29 when he turned, Elijah 26, Klaus 23, Kol 19, Rebekah 17. And Freya looks about 28/29 right now as well.

So Finn was already 20 when Elijah got his marks at 17, and the two of them were not close due to Finn's Freya trauma and resulting resentment for Elijah (Finn wasn't close to any of his younger siblings, which is one of the reason he never confided in them about being violated).

And Elijah originally understood the taboo of the marks. (Let's not forget, Klaus had to pursue and wear Elijah down.)

It wasn’t that they were being indifferent; for a long time, the younger ones literally couldn't feel the feedback yet.

By the time Kol or Rebekah finally 'woke up' to the connection, the whole family dynamic was already in ruins from what Mikael did to Elijah and Klaus.

Then there's the fact, that society, at the time, viewed their blood-relative bond as a "divine punishment" and "grotesque" abomination. (And it's much the same in modern times, CPS often step in and remove children from homes when these kinds of bonds are involved, to protect them from grooming and abuse.)

To talk about the physical feedback of "betraying the bond" (the rashes, chills, burning, etc) would be to validate the bond’s existence, which they were desperate to ignore to maintain "normality" and "respectability."

(And, again, Mikael almost beat the lives out of Klaus and Elijah when he found out about them. Which also made them pursue Tatia. It was all a mess.)

& finally, the third factor, the lack of closeness between the siblings.

As mentioned before, when Finn was only four years old and witnessed his Freya being taken. Then he was groomed by Esther, and developed an unhealthy, exclusive bond with her that sorta turned the younger children into "others".

In his own mind, he almost remained an "only child" who never integrated Elijah, Klaus, Kol, or Rebekah into his concept of family; instead, he viewed them as "somewhat lesser replacements" for the sister he had lost.

And because he never established an emotional connection with any of them, he couldn't tell anyone when he was being violated, and his siblings didn't intervene when they felt him betraying the bond.

& Without knowing the history of his trauma and depression, they just always kinda resented his coldness, and misinterpreted his withdrawal as him simply being an "dull," "boring," or a "not caring," instead of a brother who was suffering.

(And once they were vampires, they did all collectively decide to keep him shelved, to stop him from running away with anyone *Sage* and sleeping with someone else again 💀)

First off - sorry guys, I was absent for a while cause I was struggling with finishing part 3 of my Klyler Fic & kinda depressed because I couldn't leave my house for a couple of weeks. Part 3 is officially done with most of the editing though & I'm getting back to fixing up Chapter 7 for publishing this weekend! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

When he died, she did not collapse. She ruled from behind a bamboo curtain. She proclaimed herself emperor, the only woman in three thousand years of Chinese history to do so. She kept male companions after his death, but scholars still debate whether any of them bore her soulmark in return. Perhaps she simply refused to grieve the way the world expected her to. Perhaps she had learned that survival requires performance, and she performed being whole.

The circus arrives without warning. It takes a captive and makes her an empress.

It takes a peasant and buries her next to a Tsar.

It takes a thirteen year old girl and gives her a love she can never speak aloud.

And somewhere, in a Naples apartment, far from any throne, another kind of transformation was already underway...

They had not, in fact, put Kol into the body of a frail old woman.

Instead, Klaus and his siblings returned three days later with a murderous Kol Mikaelson, now trapped in the body of a dead disabled man in his thirties, who had apparently died from carbon monoxide poisoning and suffocation during a house fire he could not escape in time. One of Klaus's minions had supposedly found the guy's body in some ICU somewhere in Washington.

Kol and Penelope were both unhappy with the selection.

For Penelope, that was because while the body's physical brain had apparently been damaged enough to make Kol depend on a wheelchair, he was still a relatively fit man in his thirties, and she was paranoid as hell about him miraculously healing, getting up, and bashing her head in before anyone could stop him. And even without that danger, the oxygen deprivation had seemingly only severed the connection between his mind and his lower half, but it had left the rest of his frame heavy and capable... Maybe she was unfeminist, but as a five-foot-one female, she sort of figured that she wouldn't be able to take a dude almost a foot taller than her in a surprise fight.

Meanwhile, Kol was unhappy with the entire situation. He did not like being daggered, he did not like being awake, he did not like his siblings, he did not like his body, he did not like their plan - and if "not like" was the relatively mild term used to describe his hatred for everything and everyone involved, the word to describe how he felt about Penelope could only be "LOATHING."

The only reason she had accepted this man-body bullshit at all was because Rebekah had mumbled something about "dignity," and how Penelope had cared about Finn, and Finn had been so distraught over Freya, that Klaus and she had tried to give Kol the best available option to preserve his dignity while respecting Penelope's wishes for safety. And that kind of took away her ability to get big mad about the swap without looking like a hypocrite...

It was some goddamn bullshit. These people had never once cared about anyone's fucking dignity on TV, but all of a sudden they'd adjusted their way of operating based on her and fucking Finn's fucking feelings.

Of course, dignity wasn't that high on their list of priorities, because a few minutes after their arrival, Klaus and Kol had gotten into a screaming match, and Klaus had immediately compelled human-bodied Kol into cooperation. This, in turn, gave Penelope the heebie-jeebies and made her drink an entire 67-ounce container of vervain tea in response, just to get over the paranoid fear of being compelled...

Kol had since promised Penelope a "violent death," no matter who she "thought she was to them." That threat seemed to have made everyone paranoid as well, because she hadn't been alone with Kol, ever, since they'd brought him. Thank god.

I hope you guys like it, I think the chapter will drop at the end of April, or the first week of May ❤️

Trying to write sex scenes is so aggravating because honestly describing sex is pretty boring. It's mostly just people putting bits of themselves on or inside other people's bits so you run into a lot of "they walked to another room" type problems where you can get caught up in just describing where everyone's limbs and shit are. What really makes smut interesting and hot, in my opinion at least, is sensory description but that's also hard because you'll be sitting there trying to find a new way to say "they were feeling sexual pleasure and it felt pretty good". Then you also have to figure out how to write dialogue that doesn't sound completely ridiculous and hackneyed. Really makes you want to just write "they boned down real good and it was totally hot trust me, it was definitely the kind of thing you'd want to jerk your shit to," and have done with it.
