If you see anyone use "deprecated" as a term in regards to fandom, that's a Techbro dogwhistle and should immediately tell you that whatever they're saying is utter horseshit LMAO

"To deprecate" means to mark software as obsolete to warn against its use so it can be phased out for newer software. Like, for example, how Windows 7 is considered obsolete and is no longer supported by the company.

And that has literally NOTHING TO FUCKING DO WITH FANFICTION.

They are using a tech term to describe something as fluid and transferrable as FANFICTION. I don't think I need to tell you that writing down words on a document is not the same as computer software, and YET!
