“She represented Brando and his boycott of the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal as Don Vito Corleone in The Godfather (1972), as a way to protest the ongoing siege at Wounded Knee andHollywood's and television's misrepresentation of American Indians. Brando had written a 15-page speech for Littlefeather to give at the ceremony, but when the producer met her backstage he threatened to physically remove her or have her arrested if she spoke on stage for more than 60 seconds.[5] Her on-stage comments were therefore improvised. She then went backstage and read the entire speech to the press. In his autobiography My Word Is My Bond, Roger Moore (who presented the award) claims he took the Oscar home with him and kept it in his possession until it was collected by an armed guard sent by the Academy.

i wanted to reblog this so that everyone who sees it can realize just how amazing this is. you are looking at a photograph taken on an entirely different planet. an entire world that has been completely untouched by humanity until only recently. no human in the history of mankind has ever look at those rocks, the soil, the mountains, and the sky until now. and until we finally manage to set foot there for the very first time, no human has ever seen mars from this perspective with their own two eyes or feel the texture of the martian soil on the bottom of their boots. this was only possible by creating a robot, an actual robot, and shooting way out of the reaches of earth and with extremely careful calculations, have it safely land and deploy right where they want it. it’s a robot on another planet being controlled 225 million kilometers away, seeing and studying and sending information for us.
this is the sort of thing you would see in science fiction movies that are only a few decades old. what was only imagination and possibilities back then is now all in this photograph. im looking forward to see what happens in the coming decades
I usually don’t take pictures of strangers and post them online but… Today at Target this lady was being dragged by her two sons into the toy aisle and since I was looking at Transformers I happened to see them go by. These boys were REALLY excited about something and I wasn’t sure what, so out of curiosity I peeked around the “boy’s aisle” and they were grabbing tons of different dolls and accessories and begging their mom for them and what she told them was priceless. She didn’t say no because they were boys who wanted “girl’s toys”….she said, “You already have Ariel, don’t you want someone else?” And one of the boys just kept yelling how Ariel was his favorite. Their mom was just so frustrated and exhausted like they must beg her for princess toys all the time and they probably have so many back at home and I’m sorry but that’s just adorable.

I mean, seriously, we get to know all about Ron, get to learn all his deepest fears and his greatest motivations, get to meet each member of his family, get to see where he lives, get to know him outside the context of being one of Harry’s best friends… but Hermione? Well, we don’t even get to know half of that.
Hermione is one of my favorite characters, but we don’t get to know Hermione like we do Ron. In fact, this can be said of most of the women in the series when you think about it.
