Putting this out there because why not make use of a skill I have spent time cultivating over the years. I have considerable experience in editing, copyediting and proofreading generally.
Here is my experience outlined:
I have worked primarily with academic essays (shorter ones and have been paid to do longer ones such as dissertations) written by students at the high school, undergraduate and graduate level, in the English language.
I also have experience working with personal statements, and fictional writing.
I have done paid editing work for a full-size academic book (I can send you the title if youāre interested).
What I can help you with:
Sentence structure clarity; cohesion between sentences and between paragraphs, so basically making sure that the writing flows well and is not choppy; word choice; all other grammatical aspects; appropriate punctuation, and everything related to theĀ mechanics of writing (this includes proper capitalization, spelling, etc.)
Iām also great at in-text citations and reference lists. I can make sure that theyāre immaculate. I strongly advise against relying fully on automated bibliography generators- I havenāt come across one that isnāt free of errors. My experience has been with APA, Chicago, and Harvard, but I can work with other styles too.
If Iām familiar with your content, I can give comments on that too- if you ask me to.
If itās a university assignment for example, and if you have been given a rubric, I can make sure that all the requirements have been met, and will help you meet them.
My rates are not fixed and will depend on the amount of work needed for a given piece of writing. Having said that, you wonāt find me to be as pricey as editors who do this on a full-time basis.
