► occasional guro. understood as blood, injury, open wounds, fleshy (or otherwise) insides. varying degrees of gruesomeness. I do not consider art of physical disabilities and scars guro.

Two people I care for got cancer on 2025. I joined a drawing club, which kept me somewhat active, but the truth is I didn't really want to draw at all. I'm still struggling with that.
I wanted to quit art. It's ironic I guess, because art can be a form of escapism from the struggles of life, or a way to redirect the things in your head into a creative shape. But all I had was this absolute, irrefutable knowledge floating in my head, that I had nothing worth sharing with the world, including with myself. This health ordeal was too much for me, and once the "worst" had passed, I couldn't keep the facade. November and December I barely lifted a pen.
But I'm still drawing lol. Thanks to the people who connect with me, share their heart with me through conversations and their own art. For now I'll still draw as long as I have someone like that.
I wanted to give the horizontal template a go but I don't think I like the result... It does show off some of these drawings better.
I was futzing around with the voice settings and I realized... the Ordinary Voice sample is all the characters talking about their familiars (or lack thereof), so you get extra info on the familiars that you don't get in the main story?!
I'm still learning Japanese, and I'm generally more confident in my reading than my listening... so if I got something really wrong, please let me know!
There isn't much new info on Kotetsu, but Tasuku thinks Kotetsu is cute! (...even though Kotetsu is actually a wolf and not a puppy like he first thought lol)
Takeru's heron is Miyuki ("Deep Snow"), and he's heard tell of his mother having an albino peacock. Perhaps white birds run in the family...
Yael doesn't have one and doesn't plan on getting one, but as a brat he had a fox... Its name? He's forgotten. (which means he totally remembers but doesn't want to tell us.)
Towa's white eagle is Yokaze. (I... I have no idea what he's talking about, sorry... as far as I could tell it's something about how birds seldom respond to his calls, but if Towa forces it it's surprisingly easy at night...?)
While most familiars are smaller animals, Ango's stag is big. However, it's swift and capable of delicate movements. Its name is Hayate, but somehow it's similar to his father's familiar (I guess because Gengan's familiar is a falcon [隼 hayabusa]?)
Taki (Tasuku's dad) has a mole familiar named Mine. Since he grew up in a seaside villiage, he didn't know what Mine was when he first summoned it.
Kikyou's familiar is Wakka, a brown female pheasant. She was hoping she and her older twin sister Ayame would get different animals, but in the end they ended up with the same kind of bird.
Fuuka's sparrow is Kazane, but she originally tried to summon a brown cat. Please don't tell Kazane about it! (Fuuka is so cuteeeeeeeee!)
Arata's racoon Heikichi is a little clumsy, but cute! ...Is it true that the familiar resembles its summoner?
Gengan's familiar is a falcon. As for its name? Hmph, a mere familiar doesn't need one! (Gengan you are on my shit list.........)
Yuujin brags about how lovely his snake familiar Yamagakashi's red, black and green patterns are, and assures we'll understand how cute snakes are in no time
Misao's familiar is a calico cat named Tamao... Wahahah! Isn't he such an adorable fellow? (What a classic cat name.........)
Makoto's wagtail is Saeto. It's not particularly beautiful or adorable, but it's a good worker.
Other man (the Emperor?) has a rabbit named Chamaru, and Other woman (the Princess) has a hollow-familiar named Oboro.
