Leslie Feinberg speaking about activists only letting the most palatable mainstream-acceptable members of a group represent the movement.
[CC: “But, as soon as a movement begins to emerge and shake things up you get two approaches. First, you get suddenly those from on high who have never been our friends before who come rushing up to say ‘Wait wait wait wait wait! Don’t- don’t… don’t go too fast. Wait, we’re gonna show you how to work within the system.’ And they say ‘You know, some of these people, you don’t want to associate with them in the movement. They’re so angry. They’re gonna discredit your cause.’ Angry. You know, as if anger against oppression is not a clean-burning fuel. They say ‘Well just take a group of your best educated and most articulate and most well-dressed’ Well you know right away we should just say ‘That’s-That’s just racist, elitist, classist-coded. We know what that means.’ But they say ‘You know, if you could just get away from those people who are kind of bringing your struggle down and they’re bringing in all these extraneous things, you know, racism and sexism and the… you- you don’t want a mess… just gay rights now, keep it simple. You know, just one demand and that’ll kinda trickle down, you know.’ But those of us who have traditionally been trickled ON are not real impressed with that strategy. Because here’s what happens, they say ‘Well we’re just gonna go inside and negotiate for these rights. And kinda like, eh, don’t make any noise, you know.’ Well, they go inside to negotiate and you can be outside waiting and waiting and waiting and they’re not comin’ out. Because the next thing you know they’re the, like, governor’s advisor to this or they’re hoping they’re gonna get invited to the White House or they’re on this advisory committee. They’re finding more affinity with those they’re sitting across the table from than the people who they left around the corner.”]
As if anger against oppression is not a clean-burning fuel.
If you are American, PLEASE SUPPORT THE SSI RESTORATION ACT OF 2021
This new bill has been introduced in both the house and the Senate.
Among other things, it will:
Raise the monthly disability income by just over 30 percent - bringing it to poverty level.
Remove penalties for recieving financial help from friends and family.
Increase the amount of assets a disabled person may have from $2,000 to $10,000 (this hasn't been updated since 1989)
Update outside income restrictions to allow disabled people to receive up to $399 a month without reducing their benefits.
REWARD, not penalize, people who want to receive additional income while on social security income.
REMOVE THE MARRIAGE BAN YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT THIS WILL REMOVE THE MARRIAGE BAN
For those unaware current regulations do a lot to oppress disabled people. In fact marriage equality doesn't even extend to disbled people who risk having their benefits reduced or outright taken away if they marry someone. This means that in common law states disabled people can't even live with their significant other or they risk losing their financial independence.
Current regulations mean that if you're disbled you can't have so much as one penny over $2,000 to your name. So buying a car and gaining more independence or freedom is largely out of the question for disabled people.
Current regulations penalize social security recipients who receive income from outside sources, even if those sources are reimbursement. Did you get paid to babysit for a few hours? That's income, and you get your benefits reduced. Did you loan a friend $10 and they pay you back? The government considers that $10 income, and you get your benefits reduced.
These aren't mere anecdotes - these are all examples of actual things that have happened to disbled people I know, and if you have any disabled friends in your life I'm sure they can tell you the same stories.
If you value marriage equality, if you value financial independence, if you value the rights of disbled people, please PLEASE support this bill! Contact your reps, vote, and make noise! This is a great thing!

This is super important, guys!
The kiddo I used to babysit goes to this awesome camp for trans and gender non-conforming kids. It's been life-changing for him. Here's their amazon wish list to get ready for the summer. Help trans kids have a great summer!
the bait and switch way this is written literally made me laugh out loud
biden: my new plan guarantees four additional years of free education
kids in high school: holy shit free college?!
biden: oh no two years of pre-school and then two years of college*
*only at select locations, restrictions apply
Free preschool is actually huge. I know it's not the same as college, but families need free preschool too
This is splitting the difference between the desperate need for subsidized childcare, and the desperate need for subsidized college. It's not enough on either end, but I'm praying it makes its way into law.
“The Afro-American militant is a 'militant' because he defends himself, his family, his home, and his dignity. He does not introduce violence into a racist social system - the violence is already there, and has always been there. It is precisely this unchallenged violence that allows a racist social system to perpetuate itself. When people say that they are opposed to Negroes 'resorting to violence' what they really mean is that they are opposed to Negroes defending themselves and challenging the exclusive monopoly of violence practiced by white racists.” - Robert F. Williams
Tired of seeing posts about how Texas somehow deserves what’s going on right now with the weather or posts making fun of states in the South that are struggling...
Just a reminder that like other Southern states, our state is heavily gerrymandered! The majority of us hate Ted Cruz! And we’re not pleased with Governor Abbott either. We do NOT have the infrastructure that is needed to deal with a storm like this. Our houses aren’t made for it, our cars aren’t made for it, we are not made for it. While some of y’all might be used to weather like this, these are record lows for us. We have sub-zero temperatures and power outages that are taking heat away from people in a time when it is critical. This isn’t some joke; this is life or death. When you make fun of states like the Texas, Alabama, and Florida when they experience natural disasters, you’re not sticking it to the man. You’re mocking a dangerous situation that vulnerable people have been placed in.
I've seen several "fuck Texas" and "it's what Texas deserves" posts and it's truly disgusting. People and animals are dying. Just like with the forest fires and earthquakes, it's something out of our control, and making fun of people dying is beyong disgusting. The idiotic political war is only making it worse. Some of us have been without power and water since sunday, and it seems there is more bad weather heading our way.
From what we know, there is now permanent damage done to the electrical grid and may be without power for days to come. Both us and the wildlife in Texas are not equipped for this kind of weather, and with covid still being another challenge, it's difficult to seek shelter without being at risk. Not to mention some of us do not have vehicles and public transportation is also halted because we are not equipped to drive through ice or snow.
I don't agree with Texas politics. Our leaders are scum. But nevertheless, i have to live here, so regardless of political agenda, the loss of human life is never something to make fun of.
Everyone's a leftist until they see a chance to mock the south and the marginalized people living there 🙄
RIght? Don't do this.
i know criticizing the south as being backwards and regressive is all the rage right now, but actually the south is home to some of the most visionary, radical, progressive activists in the whole damn country and yes i will die on this hill. georgia flipping blue is a testament to those activists and hopefully gives you a taste of just how important this work is, and how these southern organizations need our support now more than ever.
people who live in progressive/liberal areas need to stop scapegoating the south and start working with us for our collective liberation. what happened in georgia is great, but it’s unfair to rely on the most marginalized to save us (white people) from ourselves. on that note, hey fellow white people! we didn’t invent white supremacy, but we inherited it. it’s up to us to demolish it, and fall in line with BIPOC-led organizations who are doing the work. you can (and should) help even if you don’t live in the south.
here’s a list of southern organizations doing great work and how to donate to support them.
Fair Fight. “We promote fair elections in Georgia and around the country, encourage voter participation in elections, and educate voters about elections and their voting rights.” Donate here.
Southerners on New Ground (SONG). “SONG is a home for LGBTQ liberation across all lines of race, class, abilities, age, culture, gender, and sexuality in the South. We build, sustain, and connect a southern regional base of LBGTQ people in order to transform the region through strategic projects and campaigns developed in response to the current conditions in our communities.” Donate here.
Gideon’s Army. “Our mission is to act collectively, boldly and strategically as a unified force for all children. We eliminate the root causes of the prison pipeline, save our children from death and incarceration and guide them on a secure path to success.” Donate here.
Free Hearts. “A Tennessee state-wide organization led by formerly incarcerated women that provides support, education, and advocacy in organizing families impacted by incarceration, with the ultimate goals of reuniting families and keeping families together.” (Has also been doing a lot of work recently helping formerly incarcerated folks vote for the first time!)
Project South. “A Southern-based leadership development organization that creates spaces for movement building.” Donate here.
Southern Movement Assembly. “An organizing strategy for community and movement governance…We believe that we are stronger together, and we participate in grassroots democracy to exercise political power at the community, city, state, and regional levels.” Donate here.
Black Voters Matter. “To increase power in marginalized, predominantly Black communities. Effective voting allows a community to determine its own destiny.” Donate here.
The Equity Alliance. “A Nashville-based grassroots non-profit advocacy group that seeks to equip citizens with tools and strategies to engage in the civic process and empower them to take action on issues affecting their daily lives.” Donate here.
if you know of great southern orgs, especially if they’re local to you, please add them! if you live in the south and don’t know of any orgs, i guarantee there is a stacey abrams doing great work near you. get engaged with local efforts for equality!

Amazon workers in Alabama are attempting to unionize
tweet
Amazon is texting workers multiple times a day.
Amazon has anti-union posters in the bathrooms.
Amazon managers are using temp workers to advertise “Vote No” on unionizing, knowing they’re leveraging economic power and vulnerability.
Amazon and the city traffic management colluded to change the traffic signals so that drivers have no time to stop and talk to union organizers.
Workers begin voting Monday (2/8/21) on whether or not to unionize. This would be the first union in Amazon.
This comes days after it was revealed Amazon was stealing drivers’ tips.
Reminder that doitwithoutdues.com is a union busting website that's encouraging workers to snitch on their fellow workers for union organizing by filling out a contact form. Go fill it out with useless nonsense and spam them. Tell them that you saw Goody Proctor with the devil, and finish up with the lyrics to Union Maid. C'mon, internet, I know you know how to do this.

I like this
[ID: Two tweets the first is by A.R. Moxon @ Julius Goat it reads “Republicans appear to be finished with the ‘trying to kill us while blackout drunk’ phase of their abuse cycle and into the ‘crying at us to unlock the door while asking us why we’re being such a bitch about this’ part of their abuse cycle. A reply from Halldor Audar Svansson @tharfagreinir that reads “It’s interesting how abusers always behave in such predictable ways that it can be modeled accurately. Now we are a the “I’m sorry that things got so out of hand, now we need to heal but that requires you to shut up about what I did” part. end ID]
Help us kick Bezos in the dick
Boss Baby Bezos is at it again! Amazon opened a union busting website for people to report workers unions, so lets do the world a favor and waste Jeff’s time, money, and life energy (I hope) by spamming his website with bogus reports. Eat shit, Jeff.
Y’ALL THEY DON’T HAVE A WORD LIMIT
I JUST SENT THEM THE ENTIRE BEE MOVIE SCRIPT
update: did you guys know all of les mis is online for free
did you know it takes roughly 5-10 dedicated minutes of clicking and holding to copypaste the entire thing

UPDATE update:
That’s all fun and good but I guarentee their systems are filtering out spam.
According to what other people have suggested, include keywords which will make sure your submission gets through, and avoid keywords that might filter it.
Expletives are probably filtered, as well as major meme keywords like “Shrek”, “meme”, “Script”, “Bee”, “Furry”, “Fanfiction”, “Gay”, also “Bezos” is probably filtered too I bet.
Keywords that are hypothetically more likely to get your post noticed: “Pamphlets”, “Unions” and “Unionization”, “Capitalism”, “Wages”, “Profit”, “Labor”, “Workers”, “Emails”, “Rights”, etc. Things that would be mentioned in union emails or pamphlets. Also, use keywords that identify you as an actual employee: “Warehouse”, “Company”, “Employee”, “Coworker”, “Shift”, “On Break”, etc.
So, sentences like these will help increase legidimacy: “Another employee in the warehouse has been handing out pamphlets on unionization and talking about workers rights.” or “I’m getting emails from someone in the warehouse about labor laws and criticizing the company’s wages.”
Use things like U(state letters)(number) in the tagline and at the start. Make the name and email seem legit. Flood their systems with useless info.
So say you get past filters. Someone’s gonna read your submission, and you want to get them going. Have a strong, in-character intro and conclusion, since those will be skimmed first. Include your misleading content in the body of your submission, and try to hide it well. For instance:
yes, again, your memes and jokes arent going to be as helpful. please actually waste THEIR time. not YOUR time.
Add to that this list of fulfillment centers and their codes…
I would like to humbly suggest lyrics to labor songs, which is what I've been sending them.
