Critical Role Campaign 4 Episode 31 random thoughts and bits
Back with Wick and team Couturier
Well, doing a death boon is certainly a way to compensate for the whole "there's no resurrection magic in Araman"
Really interesting for Wick to decide to go towards Obrimus Manor
You know, all of these time I was super sure that the Mercanaud twins were demons, never crossed my mind that they were actually warlocks (with K'sharavi as their patron!), but that makes more sense
OH, so that's why I've seen so many fanart of Tyranny with a jet black microbikini
Kattigan respectfully trying not to look at Tyranny with the bikini
"I serve your father!"; "I'm his daughter, I dont' give a shit"
Also, interesting that Bolaire decided to just drop him, even tough he was super sure that the rest of the party was gonna kill Rulius anyway
Oh, so Kattigan actually agreed to have one of his fingers cut
Lovely image of Vaelus with the flowers around her, left by the faeries and pixies
Thaisha getting that nat 20 nature, to command the spirits of the dead, was just insane. Also, having full control of the paint as reward for the roll was great.
Vokjan's spirits being yeeted by his wife towards becoming a celestial was great
Naming the new orc celestial as Kaedra was an inspired choice by Aabria
The simbolism of the Sundered Houses settling into the place where Azgra used to be didn't escaped anyone's mind
Great way for Hal, Murray and Thaisha to close the play with the falcon and the magpie in the sky
Olgud was too relatable there
Look, if Hal had the Creed target in his back before, now after especifically calling them out in his speech, oh, that old bitch is gonna be furious
I know that "Broken Wing" is a song from the rebellion, but also, I can't not thing about Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings".
Little naked dude with the acorn hat asking Vaelus to be their queen, amazing
What is Demodus' familiar doing here, and with a tiny painted Bolaire's mask?
Back to team Birdwatching
Teor rolling a nat 1, after already being dead, is just, it can't be more obvious
I've just realized that these difficulty rolls and threat rolls that Brennan has been having them made is like, a way to adapting the Daggerheart mechanics of hope and fear into D&D
Oh, Occtis has just felt that Vaelus shattered the Stone of Nightsong
Occtis and Julien fighting was *chef's kiss*
"I AM TIRED OF PRETENDING I GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOU"
Laura's face during all of the argument and them deciding to go back inside Obrimus Manor has been a journey
5 dozen shades? Trimus is not playing around
Hannan being here is either gonna be super useful or, more likely, lead to a full disaster
Look, I appreciate Trimus being so forthcoming with Hannan (and also, she's way in over her head), but also, WHAT IS HANNAN DOING, like, the idea of dispelling the "curse" is hilarious in and on itself, but also, can you even dispell that and like, cut the connection between the afterlife and Obrimus Manor?
The way Hannan changed everything was incredible, but again, between the notion that Primus and the twins might return soon, and everything that's happening, I have a bad feeling
The ghouls becoming self aware of the effects of Hannan's ritual was funny
Oh no, Hannan rolled like shit, Primus et al are back
Whelp, Thimble found the bodies
Obrimus, Obrimost, Obrimess
Julien's shadow strikes again
Oh, the roaring celebration when Thimble killed the reanimated Raimond, that shit was tense, but killing him with one blow (and also, the poetry of Laura avenging the thing that killed Travis), great moment
Love that the Davinos sword's name is Sprezzatura, because of course the family heirloom was gonna be the italian concept of like, effortless grace
THIMBLE GETTING ARANESSA'S BROTHER'S BRACERS AND BECOMING INSTANTLY JACKED THANKS TO THE STRENGTH BONUS
LAURA FUCKIN' BAILEY, THE GOAT
"The most Tears of the Kingdom shit ever", you're damn right Matt
The padawan braid detail was cute
Love the idea that when Thimble shrinks, the bracers become an armor
WELL, PRIMUS REALLY LOST HIS SHIT
Also, RIP Hannan, I knew things weren't gonna end well, but you were a real one
My pal: Power Word Kill is a 9th level spell, which means, Primus is a sorcerer of at least level 17
You know, we've all seen that Primus is some type of big bad evil boss, but also, I think that we've all been kinda played so far, in an incredibly amazing way by Brenann, regardin Primus. Because we've all seen his plans, the things he can do, but in a way we've been presented an appearance of someone a bit rushed with his planes, a bit bumbling, kinda tripping over himself, the way he hid some things in front of the Sundered Houses, the whole not having enough money, but I do think that the real Primus we've just saw, and he's been hiding that in front of everyone
You know, I thought that Wick had taken a more discreet carriage, but I guess the Candescent Creed doesn't deal in subtlety
Wick, you dumb fuck (affectionate, mostly), what are you doing?
WICK, YOU DUMB FUCK (LESS AFFECTIONATE), WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
Look, I get that Wick got out of there -barely- with his life, but there's no way that Primus isn't suspecting he isn't involved in some shit
Tyranny and Wick, one braincell, same shitty rolls
We've all know (or have been) someone that turns into Murray when drunk
Azune going full into his conspiracy with the Einfasen was expected, but getting Murray into that was a neat surprise (and funny since she was so hammered)
Look, we can all agree that between all the Sundered Houses (not counting Royce), the Halovars are fucking cool as a concept
HOW MANY NAT 20S HAS AZUNE GOTTEN WHEN DEALING WITH THE EINFANSEN, IT'S BEEN AMAZING
I do wonder if Harondus doubts and hesitation (and the whole "he thought he was Otto's heir for 20 years before the birth of Otto's sons), might end up betraying Otto
Also, Azune playing and forcing the Einfasen to move -in secret, but still- against the Tachonis, and leading to help Royce, was a really interesting move
Thaisha just wiped the floor with Oscuro Milanti (EDIT: And with the Halovars, ABSOLUTE QUEEN SHIT)
From nat 1 to a 27, thanks luck (and Brennan)
It's wild to be reminded that's been like, 2 weeks between the death of Thjazi and now, with EVERYTHING that has been going on
"Who are you, apple person?"
Not Misha putting Bolaire's mask
"I knew paradise would be a theater"
Everything's so chaotic, and also, OCCTIS IS SO DONE WITH WICK
So much stuff going on with Mara being back, Thimble being away still, they not knowing if Teor's alive or not, whatever happened with Occtis and the breaking of the stone, etc
And now they all know that Hannan's dead
Not Thimble having to carry both the corpses of the Pridesire brothers just by Thjazi's grave
Not Kattigan's reaction to Teor's body, damn
"Why are you big?", not these 2 making me cry
Less than 5 minutes of Mara being back and already talking and I already love her
I WAS RIGHT ALL THOSE WEEKS AGO, MARA WAS THE FALCON AT THJAZI'S EXECUTION
So Thjazi had an actual plan so die and then come back, but somehow that didn't worked; and then he saw Mara, and had fear, and decided to die instead, to fix whatever happened in the other side. Because Thjazi had no idea of what foiled Mara, but he knew of the plot to rescue him -even if he didn't know that plan also was destined to fail-, and even then he chose to die
I FUCKING KNEW THERE WAS SOMETHING GOING ON WITH JULIEN'S SHADOW BESIDES JUST "A CURSE", BUT NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS WOULD I GUESS THAT IT WAS THJAZI
AND ALSO IT FITS WITH THE WHOLE PETER PAN THING. BECAUSE IF THJAZI IS PETER PAN, JULIEN IS HOOK, ARANESSA IS WENDY AND THIMBLE IS TINKERBELL, OF COURSE THERE'S SOME FUNKY STUFF GOING ON WITH PETER'S SHADOW
Julien really can't believe that his spitting on Thjazi's corpse ended up saving his soul, incredible stuff
"a shadow of his former self", dammit Liam
What was that tension between Katt and Occtis
It's wild that, I kinda never clocked, that half of the party had no idea that Bolaire was a mask
Oh, so they brought back Termina by mistake, as a side effect of the whole plan that the Cloak was doing
"I didn't hate him until he taught me how"
Every single thing that Bolaire brought up was really well thought and interesting tho, like, I don't entirely get why they were all so dissmisive about it (or more like, I get why, but still I think they went through it very quick)
Amazing how everything in the forest improved after they created the bridge, and how much more it grew and improved after Thaisha used Enrichment. And of course, they way they joined everything with the Miller's road
Thaisha's finally gonna face the Circle in Dol Rungja (and also, way to fit Aabria's pregnancy into the schedule, really well thought out)
Look at Wick swearing a vow of revenge
That was a great moment, of Bolaire reversing out of despair to being just a thing, and then seeing the little paint of the mask and the lizard, and then Azune reasuring him
Azune rolling nat 20s whenever we need persuasion is incredible
Bolaire and Julien doing the Predator handshake meme, with the whole hating Thjazi
The secret of the correct pronunciation of Azune continues...
Azune's collecting Einfasen weapons, now with Ingrid's axe
Thjazi meeting with Teor and Cyd one last time in the afterlife, that was a great moment
Thaisha leaving the thread and needle was a tender moment, but also, as we've seen before, that is a tracking device baby
Oh, Demodus gift of the flipbook got me, it really got me, oof (also I know some fellow critter out there is already doing it IRL)
Vaelus and Thaisha saying goodbye... IS THIS YURI?
"My brother told me to tell you it would be ok... and maybe it will be"
Well, it took us a couple of weeks to get through the episode, but now we are here, we did it, and now we wait until august
