Song of the petroglyph
@thevampiremael
Countries with a rich history, countries with an mysterious aura. Dark countries with rain, cold and wind. Arjuna had chosen one, as a traveler of many places her destenation for this time would be the highlands. Yes, the brute Scottish mountains full of dangers and complete surrender to mother Nature. She wasn’t afraid, wandering through icy winds, horrendous rain storms and falling rocks. Arjuna was an immortal. A brave one…Once a lady, now, well a being looking for meaning, for purpose.
It was raining when she stood on top of the many mountains this area was famous for. A hood covered her face, she was running her fingers over a wet rock. Marks, this rock had marks. Ancient ones, this mountain contained many rocks with these marks on them. She did not know what they ment. “Petroglyph…” she spoke. It was torturing her, this curiousity. She had been wandering these mountains for the sole purpose of finding the petroglyphs.
However it was time to head back to the small old cabin she claimed as her wereabouts. Walking down the mountain over the slippery stones. Of course, you must see, she might have been a vampire. She wasn’t that skilled in being one. “Ah!” She slipped, down on the ground in a dark hole. Luckily there were no sharp rock points down on this ground. “Shit-” she looked up, rain falling on her face. She had landed in a hole. She could have easily jumped out, she wanted to. But something in this dark hole startled her. It was groaning, what?! Danger?!
He’d had been late to rise as the evening had set in, and as the other had careened into him he was already regretting the decision. Moments earlier and this would have been avoided. He’d been in these mountains for a few nights now, enjoying the peace the altitude brought with it and enjoying being close to the elements once more without distraction. Well… until now. He cursed himself under his breath, trying to gather his thoughts after being so sharply awakened.
“Of all the damned places for this…” he started, taking measure of who or what had disturbed him. “What is peace, I ask you?” pulling himself and his alarm call out of the earth, he deposited her on her feet in the cool evening air, standing to shake the sleep from his being.
“Not so steady up here are you?” he remarked, perhaps a little too sharply than he had intended but he paid no mind to it at all. “You ought to watch where you tread.”
The most unexpected thing happened. Not a bear? But a- well he sure was as gigantic as a bear. But a vampire! Her kind! How? Of all the places she found someone of her kind. In a abandoned hole. And he was old, very old. An ancient vampire. Way older than she was. How suprising. What an honour! She stuttered and stared at the man as if she couldn’t believe her eyes. “I- Im sorry- i didn’t know- I accident fell! I mean- I fell on accident haha you know those cursed slippery stones!” She had rarely met someone of her kind. The ones she did met however, were horrible. Badly made vampires, agressive and unfriendly.
This one seemed to be rather rational though. She cleared her throath and avoided his gaze. “Again, my apologies, it was never my intention to wake you up especially not that roughly mister….uhm may I ask your name?” She carefully tried to ask him. He looked so, grumpy and rough. But very pretty! Pretty and grumpy. Pretty Grumpy old man.
“It’s treacherous enough without the elements against you.”
She had spoken quickly, tripping over her words and left him wondering if maybe she had had as much of a shock as himself when she had lost her footing. Her apology was hasty and whilst he couldn’t deny that her falling in on him had irritated him, he waved away her worried words. There were far worse things than a minor inconvenience like this. And in the rains that had been driving hard against the mountain side for at least a day, it was hardly surprising that she had taken a tumble. Even the most sure footed of their kind was not immune to the occasional accident here and there.
“My name is Mael. What were you doing up here?”
This one didn't seem like he wanted to kill her or push his beliefs on her on the first meeting. So far so good. Could be worse. "Yes but still, I should have prevented it. Im embarassed though" She shrugged at his statement. She sometimes felt like the most clumsy vampire on the planet.
His voice, it was deep and gruff. If that voice would raise it would be like thunder. Low loud and threathning. It would be terrifying. Yet she was not afraid, she was interested in him. This was a rare meeting to her, as she normally never encountered such a kind. "Hello Mael, nice to meet you, my name is Arjuna" She spoke and looked up at the rainy sky "I am staying in the area to find Petroglyps, the ancient celtic signs you find in caves, rocks and objects. The mysterious signs... I like them I want to find and understand" She spoke honestly. She had no reason to lie to him about it. What harm would it do? It was just an innocent activity anyway.
