I see a lot of positivity posts about 12-year-olds just learning to draw. Posts cautioning us to be mindful of 11-year-olds with no grasp of anatomy and 13-year-olds whose characters are all the same person with different hair and clothes, and I love those posts. Those are great posts. Keep those posts coming, tumblr.

But can I ask, what about the 25-year-old who just bought their first ever sketchbook? What about the 32-year-old who’s been drawing for a month and has just about got the hang of a human-looking face? What about the 67-year-old who finally has time to sit down and learn how to paint like they’ve always wanted?

Not everyone starts drawing as a child. Not everyone learned as a preteen. Some people start in college. Some people start when their career is going well and they feel like it’s time for a new hobby. Some people start after they’ve retired.

Not all beginner artists are kids, and I just think the adults ones deserve some encouragement, too.

Everyone: Please dont draw at night, it makes your brain be active and youre not gonna be able to sleep! Plus, you need to rest, you work really hard on art everyday, you deserve a little break!

Before I drew the other RK androids, Kara was the first android that I drew with the attempt to use colours. also it was only suppose to be for colouring practice since I wasn’t use to digital art back then.

I want to keep my comics as lighthearted as I can with everything that’s been going on, but with how things are turning out, I’ve also been inspired by other comic artists to post something to appreciate healthcare professionals in these dire times! also people should keep in mind that sometimes when an artist says “doodle” what they mean is “stress-free art”. that doesn’t necessarily mean that the “doodle” they made is something that they didn’t work hard at or didn’t spend a long time on. some people get really out of control when they see impressive works and the artist write “just a doodle” and they think, this is it, this is the end, im no longer going to be an artist, how can i possibly compare myself.

sometimes “just a doodle” means “not working on commissions or something work-based”, so don’t fret yourselves. plus not everyone who posts art plans on a bunch of people seeing it. you don’t really expect your stupid poorly written artist caption to be seen by a lot of people via reblogs,
