I’m just loving the parallels between them but it makes me fear for her future
C’mon alphabet mafia
mutual enrichment
You can literally make anything and anyone problematic if you try hard enough seriously give me people and things and I’ll make them all “problematic” right now.
I don’t even have to do this one because PETA did it first by insinuating domestication is inherently abusive.
The sky
Used to trick and mock anyone who asks “what’s up?” A bullying tactic.
Super Mario Bros.
Stereotypes Italians, enforces the narrative of women who need men to rescue them, and encourages violence against turtles.
John Mulaney
He was over on the bench and he SAW what they did to Tyler and he did NOTHING.
Pokemon
Making your pets fight repeatedly is animal abuse.
OP literally argued that dogs were problematic but go off I guess
This is a work of art and should be sent to everyone as soon as they sign up for Tumblr so they know what they’re walking into
So there are some perks to living in a tourist destination. There are a lot of detractors mostly that you cannot shoot the tourists because you rely on them for your income but you have a semi captive audience with no context for any of the bullshit you spew. You can tell these people anything and they will believe you, the trusted friendly local. Now this is a very much Spider-Man situation where Great Power begets Great Audacity and even worse Responsibility.
My buddy goes on a run and when hes done there is a bar near a creek. So he wades into the creek because the day is hot and the water is cold.
Tourists ask what hes up to, with his running stuff he didn't want wet piled on the shore and him very obviously cooling off in the water. He says he's fishing.
But now here is why I am telling you this story. The universe occasionally aligns in such a way that we get to really really fuck with people and their perception of said universe. The opportunities do not come often and when they come you must seize the day. This is what my buddy did.
So this Creek runs through town and as a result of the highway and neighborhoods and culverts and roads it does not have a great salmon run. It's a short Creek the headwaters are only a few miles from the ocean it never had a great salmon run to begin with. But there are salmon.
One such fish brushes past my buddy's leg. Immediately he knees the fish like he is juggling a soccer ball and pops it out of the water, then slaps it out of the air on to the shore.
This is dumb luck. He could not do this again if he spent years training. Noodling (catching fish with your hands) is a thing that is legal to do with salmon but it is so much harder than literally every other way to catch salmon, including grabbing them with a garbage can. What he just managed is the kind of thing that should make you want to grab the fish and swing it around your head like a stripper with her panties off.
But,
He has an audience.
This is the opportunity offered by the universe.
He plays it cool.
He puts on dead pan straight face on and wades up to shore to grab his fish and nod to the tourists. Someone asks something and he assures them this is the standard way to get a quick dinner here. The tour guide has caught up with his group. He looks at my buddy and his fish and the general lack of fishing accoutrement. Without missing a beat, the guide backs up every ounce of bullshit out of my buddys mouth because if there is one true fraternity it is locals bullshitting stupid tourists.
please for the love of god turn ur sound on
*boston accent* “It takes a pet like NO PRABLEM! Nat afraid at alll, Thats a great cat right there..”
Here he is all grown up!
His name is Maui and he still takes a pat like no phrawblem
But he’s still giving you the stink eye because he’s actually a New York bodega cat at Willy’s Deli in Brooklyn and you know how New Yorkers are about Bostonians
That’s a great cat right there
Also his whittle white peety paws 😍😍😍
I love how they’re evaluating him like a car

Actual archaeologist in the tumbl house!
So it is a very common misconception that you can tell the biological sex of a skeleton by their bone structure alone.
It is far more complicated than that.
The reality is that these biological markers are so subtle and so inconsequential that you will not be able to tell the sex of the skeleton by simply eyeballing the pelvis. We have numerous examples of skeletons that were initially thought to be women that were in reality men and vice versa.
We try to determine sex or gender presentation by grave goods. The type of items left with the deceased generally tell us so much more about who that person was than what the skeleton alone could. But this practice is also flawed.
From grave goods we can determine the deceased's:
- Class and occupation: if they carry ceremonial weaponry, generally we class them as warriors, nobles or kings, these usually intersect, particularly for ancient cultures that focused on warfare and expansion.
- Age and location: grave goods can place us at a rough date for the deceased. Typology, or dating an object by its physical characteristics can tell us when in history this person exists. Goods were often traded widely across cultures so a large collection of Cypriot pottery in say Ashkelon tells us that this person had access to a wide trade network and probably had the funds for the real deal.
What grave goods can't tell us definitively:
Sex and gender: we can get a rough idea of their societal role, but what we must remember is the ancient world did not have the same gender roles as we do in the modern day. I feel that it is reductive to try to stretch our modern understanding of the binary to the ancient world. Not when we often do not have enough context in ancient sources to back that up.
How do we determine the sex of a skeleton? The most helpful tool we have is writing. It's always writing. This brings me to the next major issue.
Writing is present, but it is currently undecipherable. A great example is Linear A or the Minoan writing system. Evidence points to women having a role in society that differs quite starkly from that of their later Classical counterparts. However, we can only extrapolate this based off of artifacts found mostly in one single area on one major site. We have writing but we have not found a translation key so we must treat these hypotheses, as likely as they may be, with a healthy dose of scepticism.
There is also DNA testing, this is often difficult on more ancient remains due to the relative decay rate. However, it is extremely helpful when we can get a decent sample.
What I'm trying to say here is that it isn't truly possible in most cases to determine the sex or gender of ancient remains. We can only really go on contextual clues that the archaeological evidence gives. We must treat all claims with scepticism. There is no smoking gun.
