Don't they look slick together?
Yes
Also yes
Hey guys so I never actually written a fanfic before, this is my first try and if you have some ideas or opinions about this feel free to share.
I decided to try fanfic writing bc I noticed I’ve been using swerve too much (don’t come at me) so I’m trying to transfer it into an actual story.
PS: dw no ai used here
It was late at night.
The ships lights were dimmed so the beings in the ship could sleep.
At least that’s what was suggested.
-------------------------------
HUMANS
(First person pov)
I wanted to sleep. My body was practically with trepidation from my two very random teammates on the project hail mary.
And I know what you’re thinking, no I’m not calling them random to be rude, I’m calling them random because one is a scientist who trips everyday and a fucking alien.
Pretty random to me.
Anyways when I realized I couldn’t dodge the caffine that was poured down my throat 5 hours ago I decided to get another one.
Only to find out that someone was already there, and breaking the machine.
The familiar chirps hummed from inside of the kitchen.
“Y/N!” The alien chirped in relief. “Good here. Rocky broke coffee spawner.”
I snorted under my breath at the sight
“No shit.”
Then I helped Rocky repair the coffee maker in a few minutes.
’Would that work though? If the astropahge ever starts to decrease that seems to be a very likely scenario in the future what would be the possible solu—’
My internal dialouge was cut off by a familiar voice I founded myself to be eased by.
Or alarmed.
My nervous system still couldn’t predict his actions yet.
“Y/N? Have you seen my- oh. I see you’ve figured out a way to... manage that.” Ryland gestured vaugely at the stack of soaked books I haven’t noticed yet.
I look over and see him in a shirt that you’d mostly wear in Hawaii or LA.
I couldn’t help but resist a lopsided smile as I settled in a chair in the room.
“Whaat?” He asked opening his arms. Acting offended.
“Nothing.” I said as I look over at Rocky and despite the fact that this alien didn’t have eyes or a face in general we both seemed to mutually understand our interest in his shirt.
(What the hell am I writing about.)
“Okay. No. I see how it is.”
“That so?” I took his hat he had lying around
“Yeah. You think that just because Rocky clings to you more now you have the high star on this ship.”
“High star?”
“Yeah, you’re very not.”
I snorted “Okay?”
Ryland paused, his cheeks already flushing red like a middle school boy.
“Wha- I insult you and you’re first instinct is to say ‘okay’??”
I also paused now with more amusement than with confusion. I was surprised, genuinely, he doesn’t usually test me like this. I was starting to think I had to teach him a thing or two for a second there.
“Yeah? What kind of test was that?”
“A ver—”
His voice faded out of my ears as I noticed his messy hair. It was like it was made by birds, for birds but somehow it was so perfect. I started noticing how his features softened just at his cheeks, cheeks you could kiss. His lips, very kissable, but they were this shape that made you want to trace the edge of your fingertip across it. Imagine it. Laying with him, listening to a burned cd that made a screeching noise every 13 minutes but none of you seemed to notice nor care.
It was in this moment that you realized that physical standards on earth was a very unnecessary argument most of us had.
Our eyes were made to see, our noses were made to smell, our mouth were made to eat, our face was made to express ourselves non-verbally, our ears were made to hear, our skin was made to protect what’s underneath.
And no one can can be a 9 or 10 on this imaginary scale.
A human can only possibly be a 8.
Anything above that is just personal preference.
“Y/N?”
Ryland’s voice cut your inner phylosofical monologue.
----------------------------
You can tell I have no idea what scenario to project onto here. I’m gonna make better ones in the future I’m sure :)
Until then go drink water, get some rest, and good morning, evening or night to wherever you are.
listen to me: you DO NOT always need to give it your 100%. you really do not. because let’s be honest, you’re human and you’re simply not always going to be able to. there are days when you can only give it your 80%. or your 50%, or heck, even your 10%. and THAT IS OKAY. only skimming one paragraph, only solving one equation, only memorizing 5 words is better than not doing anything because you have this idea in your head that things are only worth doing when you can give what you consider to be your 100%. 10% is better than 0% and some days that is all you can give. it will still add up, and you will still succeed, i promise.
Book Grace ily
as Grace ages, his eyesight naturally gets worse and his glasses no longer help. when he offhandedly mentions his more-blurry-than-usual vision to Rocky one day, Rocky first freaks out, and then, after Grace patiently explains why human eyesight gets worse the longer a person lives, Rocky immediately consults the laptop Grace gave him. he studies the shape of various lenses, he consults images of frames, and he shares the problem with Adrian. he becomes mildly obsessed with glasses and wonders again at the oddity of the human body and the need for eyesight at all.
but after a few days, Rocky knocks on Grace’s door and behind him is a container nearly overflowing with the hundreds of glasses he’s made. there is every style Grace could possibly think of, and a few of Rocky’s own designs, all with clear xenonite lenses. what follows is hours of trying on frames and finding the most accurate lenses and joyful shenanigans, and Grace fondly thinks of the day they were trying to find a good voice for Rocky.
in the end Grace chooses one of Rocky’s designs. what else was he going to pick?
Grace finally does something impressive to rocky
Thank you, you tried your best today ♥︎ (My edit 🍒)
cramps so bad i had to project them onto ryland grace
I think there's a great chance the existence of mirrors/reflective surfaces silently fucks Rocky up.
Like, Grace is in the bathroom, shaving, the curtain pulled to the side and suddenly he stops and says "stop touching my stuff". Rocky, frozen, somewhere behind him, can't fathom how Grace sensed that. He was so quiet. The razor is so loud. Grace's still facing away from him. What the fuck.
Grace repairing some panel or other and asks for a tool. Without even turning around, he says "no, not that one, the one to its left". Rocky's like are you shitting me. I know for a fact your hearing is ass. You can only see in one direction and I'm not in it!! What?!
you can always change. you realize that, right? if you feel stuck and stagnant, and you aren’t proud of who you are, you can change that. the world is not that serious and things are constantly growing and changing. i mean, think about it: the trees change every season; 4 times a year. you can do that, too.
at any point, you can change and grow into someone you are proud of.
What if Erid invented intergalactic fast travel
I don't support Eva bashing that's emotional support environmental terrorist right there. What I'm interested in is the bad pr she is giving earth because the eridian ambassador is too invested in his flesh teddy bears life
content warning !!! seizure
i really really really love the idea of eridians hearing absolutely everything in a human body and being able to predict an episode of something, similarly to how medical alert service dogs can
wait I love this
