As people tire of doomscrolling, they're seeking out analog hobbies like snail mail clubs that fulfil their desire for whimsy.
I write my friends for free. They can't always respond and that's ok.
Remember like two, three years ago when companies would send out emails asking if you'd like to opt out of getting certain promotions this time of year because it can be sensitive for some people? Why did they stop doing that and why they now send promotions that you opted out of?
I wonder if they'll ever make a pill to turn people aromantic?

limerence
noun
: a state of intense often involuntary romantic attachment to a person who does not reciprocate the feelings and that is often characterized by excessive preoccupation and obsessive behaviors
The involuntary nature of the connection is key: The experience of limerence is similar to addiction and other compulsive behaviors. … You're consumed by your feelings for another person, whether you like it or not.— Cleveland Clinic
The main difference between falling in limerence and in love? Love requires a real, meaningful connection with another person, while limerence is usually obsessive and one-sided.— Lilly Blomquist

The Bride! 2026
I saw The Bride yesterday and I really love that movie. I don't get why people are meh-ing so hard. Well part of it might be them comparing it to Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein (2025) which was good. I love Oscar Issac, Jacob Elordi was great as the 6'5 intimidating creator, I don't think I've seen Mia Goth in anything before she played Victor and William Frankenstein's mother and later their love interest, Elizabeth. I'm sure that was supposed to mean something. Elizabeth is a quirky girl who prefers to read books about insects instead of romance and she's out spoken with her ideals. Del Toro wrote this version and the time and place are accurate but he changed a lot of things to reflect themes of father/son relationships, religious overtones, and captivity vs. freedom. Also the costume design is fantastic. It's more vibes than period accurate. Victor wears red leather gloves that make his hands look like they are covered in blood and at one point Elizabeth is dressed similar to the bride of Frankenstein from the 1930's film.
Now about The Bride! It was written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal and a short summary for it is, undead, childless, bisexual couple try to have a good night on the town and straight, white men keep ruining it. Of course there's queerness I wouldn't be into it if there wasn't. In the first scene the main character kisses another woman. She's egged on by the men around her but there's a sense she's done it before and the men suggest she's would rather be kissing a woman than a man.
Let's just say spoilers from here on. So It's set in 1930's Chicago. Frankenstein's monster has traveled to meet with a doctor studying reanimation techniques. The monster says he's been lonely and suffering for years and years and wants a companion for a romantic and sexual relationship. The doctor agrees to help him and they dig up the recently deceased main character who was killed by the mafia and buried in a pauper's grave. When the monster first sees her he is so taken aback and says she's too beautiful for me. The doctor says it's now or never so they do the procedure and she wakes up with no memory of who she is or what happened to her. She doesn't know her name and is given a place holder name. The doctor is the one that calls her the bride.
The monster and the bride stay with the doctor, but the bride wants to get out her and the monster sneak out and go to an underground queer club, there are femme people kiss on other femme people, masc people dancing with masc people, and a super androgenistic band on the stage. The bride is living her best life dancing in this club. The monster who doesn't have to hide his appearance is happy just watching her and drinking his drinks and telling everyone that's my wife.
Everything is great until some men start groping her on the dance floor. The bride and the monster remove themselves, but the street toughs won't leave them alone and attempt to sexually assault the bride. The monster fatally takes the men out. However, they are seen and need to go on the run.
The monster, Frank, loves movies and they hide in theaters. There's an actor that he really loves, Ronnie Reed. While Frank and the bride are in New York they crash an event that Reed is at and Frank fan girl's so hard over him. Frank tells him of a time he saw him on the vaudeville stage and they made eye contact. Frank is crushing so bad that Reed says laughing, "Buddy you're not my type." Also when they are watching a movie Frank tells the bride that as a child Reed overcame Polio and has to wear special shoes to dance in. The bride ask if Frank has a thing for people with busted legs because her leg is in a metal brace from her "accident".
They go on a Bonnie and Clyde style spree where they are happy and in love and taking out evil men. The ending is very much a homage to the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde. And the bride's bright orange dress is a reference to the orange outfit Bonnie wears in that movie. I think the couple even drive the same type of car.
Anyway, I loved The Bride! I'm looking for a t-shirt of it. I wish there was one of her screaming like from the 1930's Bride of Frankenstein film. There's some fun Easter eggs and commentary about treatment of women by men in power. The bride literally screams, "Me too!" near the end. It's going to become a cult classic for me and I'm ok with that.
Incomplete tells the story of a man sharing a letter about longing for someone he has never met. It explores loneliness and poses a question: do we need another person in life to feel complete or are we missing a connection with ourselves?
