Okay, I'm going to add my two cents to the fire. I'm not very vocal or anything on here, but I just want to get it out
What Skizz did ISNT transphobic in the slightest. He didn't want to be told what to say, which is something that I can agree with. Someone pushing left values onto someone and someone pushing right values onto someone is the same thing! Being forced what to say, even if it aligns with your values, is weird and uncomfortable. Like having words forced into your mouth. He doesn't have to say it to agree with it, and across multiple streams and interactions, he has made it clear that he does support everyone. He doesn't have to be overly enthusiastic about it like someone like Smajor or Gem is.
Trans lives shouldn't be political, but that doesn't change the fact that right now, THEY ARE POLITICAL. That's not something Skizz did, it's a fact about the United States and the world. I doubt that his choice had anything to do with viewership and rather that it had to do with avoiding short term fighting in the chat, keeping it an open space without hate that the mods would have to deal with. If you feel that trans rights shouldn't be political, take it up with your local government officials, not a minecraft streamer.
On the topic of mods, do you guys realize that people CAN have different opinions and moral values AND work together? You will have to work with and interact woth people who have different opinions. Hell, your own friends might have different opinions. The modern day needs to learn how to Civily co exist with people who don't agree with you. STOP MAKING ECHO CHAMBERS! Learn how to agree to disagree and move on! Their jobs and political opinions have ZERO overlap, so there is no need to mention it, from EITHER side.
A minecraft stream is NOT the right place to talk about this. And that's not me saying that you can never mention being part of the community, it's about asking political (YES! POLITICAL) opinions during a gaming stream ment for everyone (including a lot of folks who are under voting age) Take that conversation elsewhere.
I think Skizz's explanation is great and I respect him for seeing that he caused some uncomfort and decided to address it. He is a human, who is entitled to his own opinion of how he runs his streams and who he hires as moderators. I hope he does take the time to educate himself a little more on the topic, but only is HE feels that is nessisary for HIMSELF.
He may never see this, but I still support him and will always feel safe in his chat and on his channel. He makes me laugh and think more deeply about myself and is all around a great dude. I don't have to agree with the opinions of a gamer to enjoy their content.
Thank you Skizzleman for your incredible content, and I hope you are doing alright! ~a trans viewer💜🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
