I actually found it rather upsetting seeing such a vibrant, energetic and strong character in a wheelchair with obvious depression, in a way the it kind of hit close to home.

Jinora, come forward. Today we welcome the first airbending master in a generation, and I couldn’t be more proud of my daughter. When the existence of our people was threatened, when the avatar’s life hung in the balance, Jinora never gave up hope. Thanks to her leadership, I see a very bright future for the air nation. Of course there would be no air nation without avatar Korra. She opened the portals and somehow the world began anew for us, and she was even willing to lay down her own life in order to protect ours. There’s no way we can ever repay her for all she’s done, but we can follow her example of service and sacrifice. So while she recuperates, the air nation will reclaim its nomadic roots and roam the earth. But unlike our ancestors, we will serve people of all nations, working wherever there is corruption and discord, to restore balance and peace. Avatar Korra, I vow that we will do everything in our power to follow in your footsteps and bring harmony to the world.  Now, let us anoint the master who will help lead us in our new path. Master Jinora.

She followed his lead closer towards the animals. “How about close enough to pet them?” She didn’t expect Kai to step down from a challenge but it was certainly one she would talk herself out of if not for him.

Kai looked at her surprised and a little confused. 

"Weren’t you the one who told me not to get too close to baby animals when the parents are around?” If anything, Kai thought a venomous Shirshu would earn more of a stern warning from her more than a fluffy bison would. As much as he wanted to get that close, even he couldn’t ignore the intimidating mother that laid only feet away from the playing cubs.

"Well, yeah..." Jinora frowned after realizing that the shirshu mother would probably react identically to how the bison did. She couldn't believe she thought that was a good idea in the first place. Had Kai not come to his senses she would've put them both in danger. "You're right, it's a bad idea. Very bad."

"Hey..."

"…Kai? Is that you?!"

  "I’m sorry, no. I’m fine. What we need to worry about is getting everyone to safety. I don’t know exactly how to help your dad yet, but… I’ll figure something out."

"…Maybe I can help him. The two of us against Zaheer would be better than just him. You could take the airbenders to safety and I-" Jinora choked on worry.

"NO!" he shouted interrupting her, then clearing his throat as soon as he realizes how he just sounded. "No. She’s too dangerous, that combustion lady. I’m not going to lose you. I promised your dad I’d always keep you safe. I’m not letting Zaheer get his hands on you."

"Then.. what are we going to do? We can't just leave him there!" Jinora's eyes welled with tears, ready to burst at any second. "We have Aunt Kya and Uncle Bumi. We have to get my dad too!"
