Somehow, ripegreenfruit has returned.
i understand that ukrainian locations for postcards are limited by the war, and even outside of occupied territories, filming in places like odesa, dnipro, zaporizhzhia, mykolaiv or kherson would be really difficult. but fucking hell, we have more than just lviv or kyiv to show!! and it just makes me so sad how much is left out!!
and y'know i would much prefer that if they didn't stick to the pretty picture only. they could've shown us the damaged, but still beautiful architecture, churches with their windows protected by wooden sheets, statues reinforced by sandbags. this would've sent a stronger message
Today I called a girl homophobic as a joke and she almost started crying
She said “my neighbors are a lesbian couple! I’m the least homophobic person you’ll ever meet”
I said “Kelsea I’m really sorry I hurt your feelings but I need you to know that homophobic people can have lesbian neighbors” and she just got even more distraught and said “I’ve been inside their house and I wasn’t even afraid or anything”
AFRAID OF WHAT??
She entered the Home of Phobia and wasn’t even scared
I love how all of them carry a completely different tone than the others
FUCK EM UP YOUR GRACE

why is this bot named like a 15th-century European noblewoman… deepest regrets, Lady Elenor of Weidenbach, but I shall have to decline your offer of courtship…
Elenor 🍓 Weidenbach 🫦 Albigensian 😜 Unwed 🌸 Noble-born 🤞Garrulous
#guys remember to block these using the ‘heresy’ option not ‘lascivious advances’
Oh! Oh hey! I think I know this one!
A bunch of troll and bot farms across the internet have recently started using genealogy sites as a source for ‘convincing’ names for their fake profiles.
Just last week it caused some hilarity among Finnish Twitter users when some apparently Russian trolls tried to present themselves as NATO-critical local politicians – too bad they’d chosen names that were a bit too absurd for modern-day Finns to be bearing, such as gems like ‘Väinö Tatti’ (no offense if someone actually is currently named that). Someone did some digging and discovered all of those Very Genuine Twitter Profiles had pilfered their names from Geni.com and someone’s 19th-century ancestors. That kinda thwarted their cunning plan.
Well, that and being defeated by Google – or Yandex, I guess – Translate since when trying to declare NATO can’t save Finland all of them accidentally used a word that specifically refers to saving a video game or a Word document etc. Well done, little trolls. Bravo.
“but shrouded black figures are scary!” not when ur muslim. its the funniest fucking thing. this is labeled on pinterest under shit like “classic horror” “scary phone wallpaper”
but that LITERALLY just looks like a niqabi or someone in a jilbab. Like Look at this pic of me (from a self photoshoot, now w/o the dramatic lighting and dark background)
or this pic of me
or this pic of me
like its so funny i can’t be scared of shrouded figures it just looks like me.
if i saw this i would just be like “Assalam alaikum sister, dope sword you got there”
I mean I think a part of the ‘scary background’ bit is the thing where the individual in question is staring directly at the viewer from a foggy pond in a dense forest. And also the literal burning halo
sounds like a normal Friday night. if a sister wants to go on a walk in the evening who am i to stop her. if she has a burning halo that’s the will of god.

I didn't add a disabled character for diversity I added a disabled character because once you think of "power armor with bladed war crutches" you keep it in the story.
"but isn't buying new limbs at vending machines a staple of the setting? How is he missing a leg?" He's got a developmental disorder. Who cares. His prosthetic foot is an axe with a shotgun in the hilt. We are past this.
Just kidding losers he's a mediation on the literal weaponization of bodily autonomy. You're all pawns in my sick game.
The more I think about the Czech Eurovision entry and the more interviews and statements from them I see, the more disgusting it gets.
“Slavic sisterhood”? “We (all) don’t want our boys to die”??? That’s literally straight up russian propaganda with its panslavism that is used as a pretext of the LITERAL ONGOING GENOCIDE. Appropriating our language is also one of the things russians do, calling it a “trophy”. Yes, we don’t want our boys (and girls, and literally anyone else) to die, so maybe address it to those who have come to kill us instead of preaching this mythical rotten sisterhood/brotherhood?
And, like… if they meant well somehow, they would have listened to the reactions from Ukrainians, because there have been a lot of such reactions since winter. But they don’t care. They just want to exploit us to create this holier-than-thou image for everybody who doesn’t know any better.
Incredible.
@messinheaven I was mostly talking about the comments online. Just look at the comments under this tweet from Vesna, where they refer to the genocide in Ukraine as “difficult times”. There are a lot of comments from Ukrainians pointing out why this is not okay.
In addition, here is an interview with the band by a Ukrainian journalist, where the journalist tried to point out the issues with their messaging to them, but they dismissed it with the vibe of, “you just don’t understand”. It’s in Ukrainian, but hopefully you can use the translate function:
Чеський гурт "Весна" на Євробаченні у Ліверпулі співає пісню про сестринство слов’янських народів. В інтерв’ю ВВС Україна вони розповіли, щ
If you want to support any group of people, you should listen to this group and make sure you do no harm to them, first and foremost. Otherwise it’s not support but just exploitation for shameless self-promotion. With the dose of “you’re too dumb to understand how much I am supporting you” brand of gaslighting.
And it might work on a lot of ESC voters. Hell, it can even work on Ukrainians, who might hear the Ukrainian language in the chorus and vote for it without understanding the lyrics of the rest of the song.

embracing the patterned ambiguity of gender and sex as more or less social constructs can grant you so much more precision in thinking about so many concepts in science.
like, if there was a study (and I'm just making this up as an example) showing women suffer from mosquito bites more than men do
you could do the ~"Gender Critical"~ thing and go "see!? mosquitoes get it!!"
OR
you could go "that's interesting" and start asking more questions, like:
is this data self-reported? controlled?
were they studying the women or the mosquitoes?
did the study use methods that would let you tell the difference between "being bitten more often" and "noticing bites more often"?
did the study include any trans people and were their results any different? if yes were they on HRT or not?
how similar were the men and women in aspects other than gender? do we know their social class, jobs, diets, blood types?
because in fact the study i made up just then could lead to a huge variety of conclusions. from my description above you can't tell the difference between studies that show:
mosquitoes are attracted to people with higher estrogen levels
mosquitoes are opportunistic and women spend more time near mosquito habitats for sociocultural reasons
every gender gets bitten about the same amount but men are socialised to pay less attention to physical discomfort so more of them don't notice minor bites compared to women (and by more we mean like 60-40, this is a bell curve thing)
we accidentally got heaps of women in the study that have the mosquito's favourite blood type and not so for the men, oops
mosquitoes are attracted to people with more x and y in their diets, which is currently mostly women for, again, largely sociocultural reasons
etc etc etc
you're just not going to understand actual Gender Science, and therefore reality, if you can't put "hmm, but what do they mean by woman this time" in your mental toolkit in a relatively neutral way.
Honestly this is a great way of presenting the kind of scientific literacy that is needed in an era of clickbait headlines and sound bites and facts that turn into memes; so much science "news" as reported by mass media distills nuanced studies into easily quotable and shocking one-liners that generally ignore the context behind the statistic.
