Admirers were always welcome in the surgeonâs eyes. But he all too often let his ego take the reins, which left his guard down and his fortress exposed to the elements.
"âŠNot at all, my good man. But allow me to ask this: Are you here for a gallery tour? Youâre not here for a consultation, are you?" The doctor leaned forward, peering at his day planner.
A gallery tour? Now that did sound interesting. "Yes, a tour would satisfy my curiosity." He glanced down at the doctor's planner. "Unless of course you are otherwise occupied."
Hereâs another Kickstarter-Project for a wonderful game-idea Iâd like to share: The Black Glove
An eerie, surrealistic, first-person game experience by an independent team of developers who helped make BioShock Infinite & BioShock.
Welcome to The Equinox, an eerie 1920s theatre that appears unstuck from conventional reality. A venue pervaded by weird dream logic, inexplicable holes in space, unshielded x-ray art installations, and tasteful use of crushed velvet.
The Equinox has three creators in residence: the artist Marisol, the filmmaker Avery Arnault, and musical act Many Embers. Their work is in bad shape when you arrive and itâs taken a strange, metaphysical toll on the theatre. Time flows backward in areas. Weird things peek out of once-sealed doorways. Unearthly music plays. As the latest Curator, it falls to you to get The Equinox back on its feet.
Due out in late 2015 for PC/Mac/Linux and other platforms to be announced, Day For Night Gamesâ The Black Glove attempts to push the narrative game genre forward by tying story directly into gameplay, allowing players to alter both events and the world around them.
Please consider backing this project here on Kickstarter! The pledge is for $550,000 by Nov 7.
Do you ever find it odd?

 She was about to faint.
Her corset was too tight, her dress was too stiff. She was dehydrated. Anything, anything that could let her faint.
But she never did. And there she was, still very much conscious and looking like a complete idiot.Â
It wouldnât be fair to Robert if she didnât tell him she couldnât afford the schools. That she could barely afford cheese. But, she would love recommendations.
But she had to tell him.
"Mr. Lutece, your offer sounds lovely, but I can barely afford a new pair of shoes."
"Oh." Robert was surprised and wondered if Miss Tenenbaum's lack of funds was the reason why she was so dismissive of her ambition. Yes, that was most likely it. "Oh, that is unfortunate." Robert felt truly sorry for her, she seemed like a pleasant woman with a genuine passion for medicine, but if she couldn't afford shoes, how could she afford tuition? "There are scholarship programs, they could be worth looking into." A part of Robert doubted that those scholarships would be given to poor girls with foreign sounding names, but he was nothing if not optimistic.

 Of course she hadnât.
She had no money. She owned three dollars to her name. Enough for her to buy off an old medical journal from the kind doctor who lived a few blocks down.
The same old doctor that had delivered her and told her mother that âthis little girlâs special. You treat her right.â Her mother had taken the kind doctorâs advice.
But she couldnât tell Mr. Lutece that. She couldnât tell him that she hadnât had a pair of new shoes since two years ago.
"N..no, sir."
"Well I can recommend some if you like." Robert was starting to like this party and was glad he had decided to come. "Columbia has it's own medical school of course, but I can suggest some schools in London and the States if you prefer." Robert made a mental note to tell Rosalind all about this wonderful woman.

"Chemistry, physics, biology, psychiatry..medical journals," she replied, managing a small smile back at the king. She looked away for a moment. "IâŠI want to become a doctor one dayâŠ.butâŠ." she was a woman and she would never be able to afford medical school.
She was a woman. Her place was over the stove with her mother, making bread and selling it to hungry newcomers. Her place was cleaning the dishes and washing the sheets.
That was her place.
"Itâs no matter, really."
"A doctor?" Now that was a surprise. Robert had never met a woman who wanted to become a doctor, most of the women he knew only aspired to marriage with a well-off man, but he couldn't blame them, that was all they knew. All their parents ever let them know. "Why that's wonderful Miss Tenenbaum!  You shouldn't be so dismissive like that, it's a big matter. Tell me, have you applied to any medical schools?"

It was a foreign name to him.
Of course it would be. She was not American, not British. But a poor German girl of Jewish descent.
Of course her name would sound foreign as he uttered it. How he slightly mispronounced her last name. But it didnât matter. He could call her Mary Smith for all she cared, and it still wouldnât matter.
He had acknowledged her and to Brigid, that meant the world.Â
He wanted to sit with her.
He wanted to sit with the girl who wore her motherâs hand me downs. The girl who did not have a perfect hairstyle. The girlâs whose boots she had worn since she was twelve. The girl whoâs hands were rough and calloused from the work that she had done.
He did not ask to sit down next to a pretty girl with her satin and chiffon and her expensive diamond necklace and her perfectly powdered skin.
The king had asked to sit with a peasant.
"Y..yesâŠyou can sit here."
"Thank you Miss Tenenbaum." Robert sat beside her and smiled, hoping to calm her nerves. "I see you like to read." He nodded towards the books. "I've never seen a woman with so many books beside her who wasn't my sister. Tell me, what were you reading Miss Tenenbaum?"
Closed RP with matterxofxperspective
 Her name.
Her name was trivial. She had been named after a fictional character, apparently. Someone that she never knew and never would. It didnât matter. Her name was nothing compared to the very name of Robert Lutece.
But she could not deny Robert Lutece her name. It would be unladylike of her. It would be to deny a king a bow. So of course, she had to tell him.
"BâŠBrigidâŠBrigid Tenenbaum."
"Brigid Tenenbaum." Her name was different from the others he had heard, but it was still nice. "Lovely to meet you." He saw large piles of books beside her and his smile grew wider. The only woman he knew who read that much was his sister. "May I sit with you Miss Tenenbaum?"

 This had been a mistake.
Her first instinct was to run, as usual. To run away from this loud party with all her heavy volumes and go back home to her mother, who must have been worried sick about her. To go back home and bury herself under the covers.
She wasnât even supposed to be in here. But she had heard that some of Columbiaâs brightest minds were going to be there and she couldnât resist sneaking in. She could be them one day. If they would just give her the chance.
All she asked for was one chance.Â
And now here she was, face to face with Robert Lutece. Robert Lutece, the man that she deeply revered and thought so greatly of. The man that at the moment was probably thinking âwhat is this dirty girl doing talking to me?â Brigid gulped and wished she had worn something more comfortable.Â
She could always run. But then sheâd seem like a coward. A silly little coward who could not even tell the man that she revered what an inspiration he had been to her.
"IâŠMy name is Brigid TenenbaumâŠyouâŠyouâre Mr. Robert LuteceâŠitâs an..h.h.on..nor, sir."
An honor? Well, Robert hadn't expected that. He smiled, noticing that the woman looked uneasy. "Thank you ma'am, that's very kind of you." He bowed slightly, as a gentleman should. "May I ask you for your name? You seem to have the advantage here as you know mine, but I don't know who you are."
Send my character 'what-if' scenarios and I'll write something based around it.
Any and all scenarios welcome.
