“For the Fences”

To continue the challenge of creating a new visual representation of movement, I wanted to test it out on a single figure rather than a scene. Where the football scene was more about speed, this one focuses more on the tension created in the torso, visualizing what it feels like when the player swings the bat. I wanted to make sure I carried some style elements from the first piece, but found simplifying a little bit made it a stronger image.

The challenge was to create a new visual representation of movement. Rather than driving myself mad trying to be 100% original, I simply challenged myself to create something new for me, while fitting in with some of the warped moving bodies I love creating.

I call it 34 Blast.

Made for Edyson Julio's short story, "If I Decide So."

This flash-fiction piece tells the story of a young woman in moments of desperation and reflection of her life outside of the prison walls.

"...That maybe the sky is waiting for me to watch it once more, or that the rain wants to kiss my dark skin before the clouds dry. Sometimes I toss water from the sink into the air above me, and let it fall over my head and shoulders. If I close my eyes fast enough it feels natural, like Bronx rain."

Nightmare on Fury Road: Nux Skelington 

It’s that time of year in Halloweentown. This year, Jack has chosen to dress up as the War Boy, Nux, on his journey from the Citadel to Gas Town. He will arrive at the gates of Valhalla, shiny and chrome.
