“When I’m 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I’ll be reading Harry Potter. And my family will say to me, “After all this time?” And I will say, “Always.”
Thank you for leaving your magic with us forever. RIP Alan Rickman.
Matt had decided to go back to America and spend some time with his family. He missed them a lot, especially his siblings.
“I sure hope I don’t.” He mumbled silently, ascending up the stairs. He was prepared for anything to come at him, actually more like prepared to scream and run. He carefully noted his footing below in the darkness as they got up to the floor. “After you,” he said to Astrid, gesturing for her to take the lead so he could hide behind her just in case.
Astrid was more than prepared, of course she was. She welcomed haunted things, from houses, boats, etc. It was a thrill to her. “If you’re really that terrified,” she teased, stepping in front of him as they made their way up the steps.
"I-I'm not terrified!" Matt said in a justifying tone but obviously it failed. "It sure is...dark" He commented, trying the divert attention from his fear. "I mean of course all haunted houses are dark and scary but it's too dim for the daylight outside. I don't even know why I'm rambling..."
“I was supposed to be gone for a year but I was gone for a couple days.. You want to know why? Because fuck America, that’s why.”
"Now now Adam, what did my country do to you?"
“Then explain to me why I have no recollection whatsoever about what happened after that? That doesn’t happen with just a drink, Kaine.”
“I don’t know, maybe you just have a low tolerance? I didn’t fucking drug you Matt. But it’s nice to know you think so highly of me.”
"I'm fairly sure that I don't. I still have a hard time believing that, as much as I want to. Sorry mate, I know I'm not supposed to but I can't help but judge you."
Matt was one of those people who can never get sarcasm and flirty comments, though he’s got loads of that. Some would say he’s dumb but he’s just too pure for the world. A few minutes later, he came out in front of her, wearing proper pants and a checked shirt. “There, better?”
“Yes. Better,” the blonde girl grinned and nodded. “The shirt suits you, really. At least better than the other outfit. And it is for sure keeping you warmer as well.” She had been tempted to make a teasing comment again, but then expected Matt not to understand it again anyway.
"Anything is better than that outfit really." Matt commented with a laugh. "Thanks, and yes, it sure is warmer and comfier. I guess I was out of my mind to wear that on a cold winter day."
“Because you went all awkward when we were talking about him.”
Leslie closed her eyes, inhaled, then exhaled, “It’s not about him, Matt. It was never about him. Let’s not talk about this yet.”
Matt eyed her curiously, trying to decipher what exactly was on her mind. "Leslie, you know you can talk to me about it, right?"
Hang-out
“Memories of watching it with my family. It’s not what you think.” Matt replied with a roll of his eyes.
Leslie let off a nervous giggle. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she acted innocently, playing it cool.
"Oh please," He gave her a side eye. "I've known you enough to figure out what you meant."
“You’re not the real Santa, and there’s nothing you can say that will convince me otherwise.”
"Um, Cami, that's a doll for heaven's sake. What the hell are you doing?"
“Are you challenging me, Spencer? Of course not, you think you can turn me gay?”
“I’ve turned plenty of people gay, so definitely but I mean, if you’re that confident that I can’t, might as well kiss me to prove it.”
“Fine, if it is to prove that I can’t be turned gay then let’s do it.” Matt said confidently, as he leaned in to quickly press his lips to Spencer’s.
“It’s my speciality.” Matt shrugged with a laugh. “It really does. I would love to be back at home again with mum, dad and my siblings but I’d miss this place far too much, and also the people here. That might a little hard but we can always try to.”
“Always has been, innit?” She rolled her eyes, elbowing him jokingly. “Trust me, I get it. I miss my family too. Are you going back for Christmas? I’m sure the weather is much nicer. Difficult, but very possible.”
Matt rubbed his arm, laughing along. “I’m not entirely sure if I will. Maybe I could visit them for a day or so, I don’t know. Are you? I could use some company around.”
“Excuse me? Remember the drinks we had the other night? Yeah, they were drugged. And you were the only one that handled mine.”
“No, they weren’t drugged. Despite what you apparently think about me, I don’t go around drugging people.”
“Then explain to me why I have no recollection whatsoever about what happened after that? That doesn’t happen with just a drink, Kaine.”
“Wait, is this about Ethan? Did you like, have a crush on him or something?”
“Of course not! It’s not about him, Matt. Why would you think it was him?”
“Because you went all awkward when we were talking about him.”
“No, what, why do you say that? It’s just a normal party with normal people, right?”
“Normal party? Oh sweetheart, you’re in for a surprise.”
"Well shit, I'm screwed."
Hang-out
“News flash, Les, everyone has been.” He joked with a grin. “I wonder what you were busy with hmm. This movie brings back so many memories, oh lord.”
“Haha, whatever.” She rolled her eyes as she lightly hit him with a cushion. “What are you talking about? What are those memories hmm?”
“Memories of watching it with my family. It’s not what you think.” Matt replied with a roll of his eyes.
“I don’t think I signed up for this, where’s the contract?”
“I said, hey, can you do me a favour and you said yes. No contract needed.”
"Fuck, I should've been more sober when I accepted it. Fine, what is it you want me to do? Except stripping."
“You’ve done a good job at it, don’t worry.” He commented with a smile. “Slytherins can be a bit…harsh. Not all of them though, some are not your typical ones. Of course not, I’m not a baby. Be right back.” He said as he went into one of the nearest restrooms.
“I know you are no baby….” Kelian laughed and shook her head, wondering if Matt really was so innocent that he wouldn’t get such teasing hints. “But alright. I am just going to wait here then.”
