I fell inlove with you from You Belong With Me, confirmed my obsession at Crazier, never got to see you at Speak Now (rip) I had my 16th birthday at 1989, and have just travelled to Melbourne for reputation and will see you in Auckland too!! Yesterday, Ella Hayes jumped into the studio and smashed out this amazing cover of I Did Something Bad by @taylorswift over my arrangement. She absolutely killed it and even if you’re not into Taylor (buy why wouldn’t you be?) then you’ve got to listen just for her voice.

For me, I always felt like 'Homemade Dynamite' was in some ways a tragic party song. It's a song about mourning and about loss but not the loss of people and things but of moments.

I think we've all been there. We're at a house party with cheap drinks and cheaper people or at a music festival and you find them: A random stranger that you just instantly connect with. Maybe they sit at your table, maybe they ask for a cigarette on the porch; whatever it is that gets you connected, it's like fucking lightning in your soul. You dance and you sing, you joke and you laugh and then it hits 3AM and you start talking about life and death and the things that trouble you or make you cry. You're sharing your world with these people and them with you.

It's beautiful and it's poignant and you love it. And you say you'll keep in touch and you'll add each other on social media and hang out but you and I both know that's bullshit. It's a thinly veiled attempt at keeping the spark alive because the reality is we let it slip. We let them slip away from us and all that we're left with is a memory and a moment of them and how they made us feel. 'Homemade Dynamite' is the eulogy to these moments.

I wanted to take what this song meant to me and amplify it to 11, utilizing the melancholic strings and the mournful ambiences to really bring that out of Ella's vocals and I think I achieved that. I'm really proud of this remix and I know that doing this has taught me a lot about how I make music, mix and master and what I hold important.
