Thank you to everyone who decided to sign on to my silly little attempts to document my academic journey! More people than I ever expected follow me and I think it's a good time to introduce myself to the studyblr community.
My name is Max, my pronouns are he/him, and I'm a 22 year old graduate student. I'm originally from Poland but I've lived in the UK for a good few years now! I'm also queer and have ADHD - both are super important parts of my identity that I definitely will share a lot about.
I did my undergraduate degree in Politics at Edinburgh University and I'm set to begin my Master's degree in Russian and East European studies at Oxford University in October - I can't tell you how excited (and terrified) I am for it! I also hope for this degree to lead to a PhD in Eastern European area studies or a related discipline.
Outside studying, I knit and read a lot (especially literary fiction but I'm not too picky!) and consume unhealthy amounts of coffee.
This community is so lovely and I can't wait to be an even more active part of it! <3
My name is Basel Ayyad, a 28-year-old Palestinian from Gaza. My family of eight was forced to flee our home in northern Gaza, which was destroyed by the war. We now live in a small tent in Rafah, struggling daily to survive without shelter, food, or medical care.
The most heartbreaking struggle is watching my daughter, who suffers from a rare disease, worsen due to the lack of treatment. We urgently appeal for your support with food and essential aid. Even the smallest donation can make a difference and save our lives. Please help us.

My husband, Ibrahim Al-Nadi from Gaza ๐ต๐ธ๐, is in urgent need of life-saving surgery. Despite our efforts, weโve only reached 2% of our donation target, and time is running out. ๐
As a result of the ongoing bombing in Gaza, his condition has worsened, and immediate medical intervention is crucial for his survival.
Iโm humbly asking for your help any amount, no matter how small, can make a big difference. If youโre unable to donate, sharing this message with others would mean so much. ๐

My winter evenings have been filled with tasty hot drinks, having my heart strings pulled by books, trying to learn how to oil paint and patiently waiting for the warmer days to come again โ๏ธ
Taking it slow these days. I tried to move everything around so I don't have much work before Christmas. I won't be doing anything during the Christmas holidays either. Especially here with all the studyblrs it's easy to get the impression that everyone is being productive all the time. It's not true. I won't be doing anything during my time off. It's my time to rest and I need it.
During the last year and a half I couldn't take the breaks I needed and I'm still paying for it. I won't do that ever again. It's unhealthy to be productive all the time and it negatively affects our ability to perform. (Almost) nothing is so important that you should ruin your mental health for it. Of course, sometimes there's a stretch where you have to get things done and work more than usual. But still, you are not meant to give 100% all the time.
Rest is important, it is necessary and in the end, rest is the best thing you can do to boost your productivity. And to not lose your mind!
love how cold it's gotten, but i don't have clothes for this. i'm freezing ๐ฅถ๐ฅถ

Please bring us back to life without war, destruction, genocide or killing because this is what fills our memories after we forget what a life full of hope is like โผ๏ธ
I'm Ashraf from the war-torn Gaza. I've lived an entire life under siege in Gaza, facing relentless military actions and life-threatening conditions daily. In October 2023, the conflict escalated drastically, devastating my newly built house, my neighborhood,my workplace, and jeopardizing the lives of my family.
My wife, Ghadeer @ghadeerarqan , and I live in Gaza with our baby son Yamen. My wife gave birth to Yamen during the war, and it is all he has ever known. Yamen has spent the tenth months of his young life without a stable home, surviving a genocide.

I mourn the loss of our safe haven, but more urgently, I need to secure a future for my family away from the constant threat of bombings that have become our grim reality.
Meet Yamane, our precious tenth-months-old. Who was born during this war, We aspire to provide him with opportunities that surpass our own experiences, fostering a future filled with joy and prosperity.
This campaign is a call to arms for all who believe in the transformative power of community support. By contributing, you're not just donating; you're actively shaping Yamane's world, ensuring his journey is filled with the promise and potential every child deserves. Join us in making a profound impact on his life
Yamen... he's only a baby. He doesn't understand the fear that grips us, the darkness that engulfs our lives. He just smiles, his eyes bright with innocent wonder, oblivious to the terror that surrounds him. He reaches for me with tiny hands, his laughter a fragile melody in this symphony of destruction. ๐

Thank you for standing with us during this incredibly challenging time. Your support means the world to us, ๐บ๐ฉท๐ฟ๐
But we still need your help to reach our goal. Please continue to share our campaign and consider contributing if you can. Together, we can create a brighter future for Yamane and all children affected by this conflict.
